If you don’t have kids and are looking for an affordable way to hide your arsenal in plain sight, Skinner Sights has announced their new HTF Garment Bag just in time to alert Santa. The HTF lets you stow a lot of gear in among your suits and gabardines, then folds up into a handy tactical bugout bag should you have to hit the road. Press release after the jump . . .

A unique way to economically and discreetly hide firearms from burglars is now just a closet away. Skinner Sights, well known for its phenomenal line of firearm sights and accessories, has invented a unique solution for low-cost firearm storage.

The patented, all-American-made and all-American-material sourced Skinner HFT Garment Bag is a secure hiding place for firearms and accessories that is nearly invisible to a thief but accessible in seconds by its owner.

Home break-ins are typically snatch-and-grab operations that last just a few minutes. The Skinner garment bag keeps firearms safe and secure in plain sight. Ask yourself: Who steals clothes from a closet?

Opening the Skinner garment bag reveals fast access for one long gun up to 42 inches in length. There are quick access pockets for various accessory items such as knives, flashlights, valuable papers, extra ammunition or smaller handguns. The bag also has two attached handgun holsters which can be removed for temporary use and each has a magazine pouch on the holster. Special interior pockets are designed to hold at least 6-pistol magazines and four 20-30-round rifle magazines.

The HFT Garment Bag is constructed of 1000-denier heavy-duty Cordura nylon and finished with heavy-duty zippers attached with heavy-duty thread and nylon webbing. The hanger is rated to at least 200 pounds and, like a “real” garment bag, it folds in half and has wrap-around handles for easy emergency evacuation if necessary. And for further camouflage one could hang a couple of shirts inside the bag.

“Sure, an 800-pound safe is best,” says Skinner Sights owner Andy Larsson, “but will the floor support it in a covert location and allow quick access if necessary? The owner’s real needs and, of course, budget are all important things to consider.”

    • In theory they are in there looking for a gun safe or something sitting on the shelf, like jewelry boxes, not a bunch of suits in someone else’s size. I expect the average burglar (Hollywood BGs excepted) has little use for a suit in any case (no pun untended).

    • The FBI has some great offender stats. Burglars are overwhelming white and male. Between 18-25. They live near you and the break in occurs after 9am and before lunch. This kid doesn’t look out of place walking around your neighborhood. The offender spends just minutes in you home, taking what will fit in a backpack and is easy to pawn or trade to fuel his substance abuse problem.

There are very few professional skilled burglars, but, there are some out there.

  1. Pretty awesome but not new. They also make some great cases for break down rifles/long guns. Good quality for sure.

  2. Are the zippers quick-deploy biometric zippers? Open with a key fob or wristband?
Will my AR get wrinkled? Will Ballistol repel moths?

Interesting concept and I can see the appeal in certain settings.

  3. I’ve already spent a lot of money on pistol safes and rifle safes, pistol hideaways that look like lamps or books, and magnets to secure guns under tables . . . and now I have to buy another closet?

  4. I don’t know about you, but my closet rods barely hold up the clothes being hung upon them. That looks like quite a bit of weight in that single bag. I guess it will have to hang right next to the wall, or near a support. Just don’t slide that thing to the center by accident!

  5. Looking at the photo, my first thought was, wherever I’m going with that thing, I’m not gonna need a passport.

  6. That would be a hell of an X ray at the airport!. Best place to hide your guns is with your “work” clothes!

  7. My first thought was, “Shut up and take my money!” Then my second thought was, “No, seriously! SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!”
