5.11 Tactical is expanding beyond selling clothing and gear. They’ve just announced that they’ll be offering free training classes they’re calling ABR (Always Be Ready) Academy in their company-owned stores around the country.
The classes will cover five general topics; trauma care, self-defense, everyday/concealed carry, fitness and outdoor adventure. Here’s their press release . . .
Irvine, Calif. (March 12, 2019) – Global leader in innovative tactical apparel, footwear and gear, 5.11 Tactical, is officially launching a program of instructional classes hosted at its 45 company-owned retail stores throughout the U.S. The 5.11 ABR (Always Be Ready) Academy events are free to the public and will be held monthly at different company-owned retail locations nationwide. The 5.11 ABR Academy shows 5.11’s commitment to the 5.11 Always Be Ready mentality extending beyond just a customer’s apparel, footwear and gear.
“One of the main focuses of 5.11’s company-owned retail expansion plan is to make 5.11 stores experiential retail destinations,” said 5.11’s Senior Vice President of Retail, Jeff Roberts. “We will provide our consumers with not only the gear they need to be ready – but also practical experiences to help them be prepared too.” Roberts continues, “Our 5.11 ABR Academy program will transform our stores into more than just a point of sale – they’ll serve as the interactive consumer destinations we always intended for our stores to be.”
The clinics themselves will provide attendees with lessons in readiness skills within five main areas of training: trauma care, self-defense, everyday/concealed carry, fitness and outdoor adventure. Each class will be hosted by certified experts in each field and provide consumers with first-hand learning and guidance in these areas of practice. The 5.11 ABR Academy mission is to empower the community to “Always Be Ready.”

Launches? Launces, lanches, lunches?
Free trauma classes? Free?
That’s something everyone should jump at.
Lol I agree. But no one on this board will…
“Lol I agree. But no one on this board will…”
As usual, ‘JD’, it shows how little you know.
Is there anything you’re good at, besides being a pompous ass?
Yes, I’m also good at knocking people the fuck out.
“Yes, I’m also good at knocking people the fuck out.”
All hat, no cattle.
All talk, and no walk…
*snicker* 😉
BTW, ‘JR’, you do realize TTAG logs the IP addy of every single comment?
I’ll be happy to ‘take one for the team’ knowing you’ll be in a jail cell praying you won’t be Bubba’s ‘girlfriend’.
Well, that’s provided you make it to that jail.
I carry, and will use it to defend myself from an attack, like if someone does to me a grievous injury, like trying to “knock me the fuck out”.
I suggest you start practicing for your police mugshot… 🙂
Lmao! No, no you wouldn’t.
“Lmao! No, no you wouldn’t.”
Try it, and find out… 🙂
Yawn, if we ever met face to face, you would have a different attitude. 🖕
Show me where a free trauma course is and I’ll definitely go
This is great! I can see moderates and left-leaning folks, who might be anti-2A, but dont want to be sheep attending these. This will shift their mindset and open their eyes. IMO, this is how a company can contribute, directly and indirectly to, supporting 2A. I wish 5.11 success.
Indeed.
Expect a room full of a lot of dudes that are 50lbs over weight, with a douchebag goatee, and lots of tan 5.11. It will be like a gathering of the B-Team.
Or a gathering of ttag regulars.
Am I the only one here who remembers when a 5.11 was a tough crux? Now today, 12 year old girls are eating 5.11s for breakfast.
(Clueless what I’m talking about? Well then JD is probably right about you)
@ Silly Putty
Actually, 5.11’s were just starting to get tough, 5.10’s, not so much. But every gym is different, blame your route setters. Outside, 5.12’s and above are still challenging.
“Or a gathering of ttag regulars.”
Awwww, lookie here at ‘JD’. Isn’t he just soooo cute?
He’s really pissed off that no one here bows at his (stinky) feet and recognizes how great he is (in his own mind).
Bugger off, ‘JD’. The adults are talking… 🙂
Most of these folks look like regular everyday people and these are the one we want attending these:

Apeture Fight Focus held the training session in a 5.11 store in N.C.
5.11 makes good products. They support the “freedom” and Pro-2A communities. Overall, this is a positive step and I support them.
Save the hate for the Dick’s and Nike stores.
Tactical panse will be banned when Empress KAMALA seizes the throne. They cause deep rooted “police anxiety and fear” amongst POC. Skinny jeans will be the new attire for the kick in the door crowd.
Good for 5.11. Excellent company.
Nothing tells you someone is carrying (a.k.a. – HEY BAD GUY – SHOOT THAT GUY FIRST!) more effectively than 5.11 or Propper clothing.
