OK, so above: calm, collected, fair and balanced. But the article at the link, well, that’s another story (literally). Underneath the headline Gun Day Organizer: We’re Not Extremists, ABC portrays gun rights advocate Larry Ward as an extremist. [NB: notice the collective pronoun in the headline.] “Ward has set up a website, GunAppreciationDay.com, and he’s collected an odd mishmash of sponsors, who’ve all signed on for free, including libertarian PACs, small-time gun-rights groups, ideologically-driven gun-sellers, non-ideologically driven gun-sellers, a family-operated firing range, conservative nonprofits, a small-government-themed rock band, a landscaping company based outside of Pittsbburgh, and, as MSNBC’s Zachary Roth has pointed out, at least one group that traffics in one-world-government conspiracy theories . . .

Ward’s coalition is chock full of fringe groups, but he hasn’t turned any away. Among his backers, influential blog RedState and the aforementioned Revolution PAC have been joined by non-luminaries like What Bubba Knows, a website featuring (along with general news commentary) some anti-Palestinian .gifs, cartoons, and accusations of jihadism.

To paraphrase the old expression, if you don’t have the facts, argue the law; if you don’t have the law, argue the facts; if you have neither, attack your enemy’s character. Despicable. And surmountable. Watch this space.

  1. This is why I don’t want subjective mental evaluations to be used to determine if we get the privilege to exercise our God given rights. If those making the call declare anyone wanting a gun to be deranged then no one gets to have one.

    • Also why the chief LEO requirement needs to be removed for NFA items. You shouldn’t be discriminated against just because of your geography.

      • Careful what you wish for – they’re actually considering removing the CLEO approval, but if they do that then they’re going to make it so that those who use trusts must be fingerprinted and such like a criminal.

I’d rather pay the few hundred bucks for a lawyer and go the trust route than be treated like a felon.

    • Thank you. You want to own a gun? You must be crazy. No gun for you.

It could turn out like the old Soviet Union. What Comrade, you don’t like glorious communism? You must be crazy. Send to mental colony in Siberia.

      • The US did that to the Native Americans.

“[The Native Americans] didn’t have any rights to the land … any white person who brought the element of civilization had THE RIGHT TO TAKE over this continent.”

~Ayn Rand, US Military Academy at West Point, March 6, 1974

And now that the natives have been destroyed, the New York capitalist city-slickers, along with their Potomac enforcement goons think they have THE RIGHT TO TAKE your stuff now.

  2. The video talks about “Limiting Magazine Clips”…uh what does a magazine clip look like? Is it a Magazine with a “thing that goes up” to make it a “weapon of war”?

    • +1, I don’t understand how they still don’t know the difference between magazines clips and some weird combination of them

      • at least they didn’t talk about “the thing that goes up.” its like calling a seatbelt a rope.

      • I’m pretty sure that they do know the difference by now, but they see that saying “clip” when they mean “magazine” drives us all crazy, so that’s why they’re still doing it. Just ignore them and they’ll stop. Or maybe we should fight fire with fire and we should start saying “clip” when we mean “magazine”.

    • I think we should just go ahead and let them limit the clips to 10 rounds max. As long as they don’t limit the capacity of MAGAZINES I think it’s okay to let them limit the capacity of the clips.

      • The problem is that there always seems to be a sneaky-bastard legislative aide around who does some basic research and changes it to “detachable ammunition feeding device” before the bill makes it out of committee. It would be nice if the opposition were that consistently stupid.

On the other hand, I really was hoping that those horribly written bills in IL would make it far enough to be publicly ridiculed before being withdrawn in disgrace.

        • My stripper moneyclip is usually empty before I get to 10 rounds. Much to the disappointment of the nice young ladies who are all apparently working their way through college.

  3. Slavery, segregation, Japanese Internment, McCarthyism, sexism, GLBT (what ever they are calling themselves) discrimination, prohibition, suffrage, all prove that cultural norms do not just policy make.

    • Excellent article, tx for the link. Anyone who is interested in rational discussion with anti-rights proponents needs to read this article.

  4. So What Bubba Knows is a fringe website because it has
“some anti-Palestinian .gifs, cartoons, and accusations
    of jihadism”?

FYI one of the anti Israeli groups based in Palestine, until
they moved to Syria and Iran THIS YEAR, was the
Palestine Islamic Jihad or PIJ. Even al Jazeera and
Wikipedia confirm this and that there were active jihads.
And here I thought both were the go-to websites for
research in the MSM. So apparently now, websites that
actually report news are now being classified as extremist
and are guilty of harboring fringe elements.

I look forward to more stunning revelations about how
biased and insane members of the media really are.

    • If you believe that there is such a thing as Jihadism or Jihadist, you are further out of touch with reality than if you believe in Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy, didn’t you know? Just ask Cen Gov, they’ll set you straight. Why with such mental problems, you’re obviously not qualified to own a fire arm, or even be on the street

      • Jihadists are as about as common as Communists – there’s a lot of loose talk, but no one’s actually ever TRIED it yet.

Not that I think they should.

  5. My thanks to the mass media for motivating millions of Americans to go out and buy their first guns and join with the pro gun community.

    • Yeah. Great. Now somebody tell all those fracking newbies that ammo doesn’t usually cost this much and that if they’d just ease back on the throttle a bit, we’ll all be happier.

Kidding, of course. There’s no way it’s just the newbies buying up all the ammo. Wonder how much the credit-card debt average is going to jump when they report numbers in February?

      • That is BHOs real game. He will take credit for stimulating the economy later. The Money Trust gets what they need too, ever increasing consumer debt.
