Aero Precision Rifle frozen during test

An Aero Precision rifle has successfully completed a series of rigorous testing procedures required to meet National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standards for law enforcement. Following that process, the rifle was evaluated with a 10,000-round endurance test.

The weapon experienced zero malfunctions during the 10,040 round NIJ assessment, even in extreme conditions that fall outside normal use.

Evaluation to NIJ Standard

The evaluation process was conducted by a West Coast law enforcement agency and included the following phases:

• Initial 60-round test fire sequence
• 12 hour Freezer period with subsequent 30-round test fire
• 12 hour Oven period (120° Fahrenheit) with subsequent 30-round test fire
• Water submersion with subsequent 30-round test fire
• Sand submersion with subsequent 30-round test fire
• Six (6) position drop test with five (5) rounds fired after each drop.1
• Initial zero with optic and iron sights2
• Final zero conducted with 3-round zeroing shots near the end of the endurance test with an acceptable zero of 2.75 in.

AR-15 Builder kit
In addition to complete rifles, Aero Precision is known for offering a range of AR 15 kits for people who want to build (or upgrade) their own rifle.

Endurance Test

• The test consisted of 10,000 rounds fired in 1,000 round increments.
• The rifle was cleaned and lubricated prior to the beginning of the test.
• It was subsequently lubricated in 1000-round intervals.
• The firing schedule for this rifle consisted of 150-180-round increments from various shooting positions and firing rates.
• There was an 8-12 round cooldown period between firing cycles utilizing a 4’x4′ industrial fan.
• The gas rings of the rifle were replaced at 6,040 rounds.
• A final zeroing test was conducted at around 9,960.

The Aero Precision rifle completed both the NIJ Standards and Endurance Test with zero (0) operational problems.

AR15 Aero Precision Uppers
Every AR15 upper from Aero Precision, stripped or complete, is engineered, built, and inspected to the highest possible standards.

¹The charging handle lever on the port side broke during the drop testing sequence and the flash-hider and pistol group came loose. None of these issues impacted how the rifle functioned. Loosened parts were re-tightened.

²The T&E optic failed during the drop test; no effect on the rifle test. A second T&E optic also failed. A third T&E optic was used during the endurance firing sequence.

      • Fantastic work-from-home opportunity for everyone…Work for three to eight hrs. a day and start getting paid in the range of $13,000 to $19,000 a month…qa01 Weekly payments…And best thing is.
        It’s so Easy…

Follow details on this website……. http://Www.BizPay1.com

  1. Good stuff.

My next AR-15 build will be with all Aero Precision components…or whatever they have in stock. 🙂

    • I love their M4E1 lower. It uses a grub screw to hold the ping pong paddle in place and doesn’t have that open section in the trigger guard, which means I don’t have to hammer roll pins in place. It also has one of those upper receiver tension screws to eliminate rattle.
I’ve never tried freezing it or dumping it in mud though.

    • Aero makes good stuff…After using an Aero M4E1 stripped upper receiver on a recently completed carbine I was so impressed with it I purchased another. Fit and finish were very good and well worth the added price. I’ve used Aero stripped lowers but nowadays to save money I use Anderson lower receivers. Thus far Anderson has worked very well with the Aero M4E1 stripped upper.
Aero also has nice carry handles and the price on Memorial Day was right so another was purchased. Fulton Armory did not have a Memorial Day sale this year so maybe on Father’s Day I can save 10% on an A1 Stock Assembly. This latest build gets either a Criterion or a Daniel Defense carbine barrel and they are not cheap.

  2. I don’t mean to hijack an article/comment, but I have to ask. It is June 6 isn’t it? Now I get the media ignoring what should be a US/European national holiday, but TTAG not mentioning it?

    • GF, nobody has acknowledged that today in history was the start of The D-Day Invasion. I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting either, as declared wars ceased after WW2, so paying homage to events such as this is a paean to a time long gone by. Nowadays, we have BECOME the evil that we were against, and will only prop up other like minded dictatorships through proxy wars, which will soon become UN steered actions. We have met the enemy, and he is us.

      • The ONLY way we could pull off anything like Normandy in today’s world would be for somebody to sneak in before dawn and pound in ” FREE SHIT ” signs for the entire length of the beach.

        • IN fact NORMANDY would, taking everything into consideration with PRECISION weaponry and long range artillery, probably no worse and no better than in ’44. The Allies managed to insert 300,000 tropps into the Middle East in Gulf ONE don’t forget. But on the other hand there has also been great advances in the potential of DEFENSIVE technology as well.
The thing is though that conditions that prevailed in WW2 on all fronts are NOT the same as the conditions that prevail today. For one thing the average Western Soldier is far better trained, better equipped, better OFFICERED far fitter and is more professional that at any time in history.
What idiots like you, with no knowledge of history other than that you glean from HOLLYWOOD fail to appreciate is that the Allies had THREE years to prepare for OPERATION OVERLORD and the MASS CONSCRIPTION of over TEN MILLIOON Personnel by the USA, the UK and the Britrish Empire.
OPERATION OVERLORD was an ALLIED EFFORT and planned by the BRITISH from the time of the DUNKIRK EVACUATION.

WE have all heard of OMAHA BEACH and the casualtis suffered by the AMERICAN forces on OMAHA – most of which were was a result of the incompentency of the local American Command structure .
What is LESS well publicised is the success of the AMERICANS on ‘UTAH’ Beach which went ahead PROPERLY LED, on schedule and with few casualties.
THe potential casualties pre-OVERLORD wee calculated at a possible 25% – the actual causlties were less thann3% EVen OMAHA suffered less than half of expected casualties.
I make m no apologies for inserting a little history that does NOR rely on HOLLYWOOD or JOHN WAYNE into most of my comments

      • “GF, nobody has acknowledged that today in history was the start of The D-Day Invasion”

Perhaps your favorite ‘ entertainment’ sources were occupied with promoting more propaganda.

I’ve found the MSM to often be a reliable source of information and historical fact. You should check it out.

The Associated Press and the Washington Post both noticed the Normandy invasion anniversary:

“Joy, sadness intertwine at Normandy’s D-Day commemorations

        As did USAToday:

“Photos from D-Day give glimpse into historic World War II invasion 78 years ago
        Wyatte Grantham-Philips
        USA TODAY published 12:15ET June 6, 2022”

        And ABC news:

“World War II veterans honored a day before D-Day anniversary

    • It was noted in my news feed this morning. Only one article, but at least it was mentioned.
But maybe we shouldn’t talk about it to loudly–China might get some ideas it can do the same to Taiwan.

  3. The oven test seems a bit mild, leaving my rifle on the bench, in the sun gets it hotter than that in the Arizona summer.

  4. It’s always “just the beginning” with tyrants.
Despite a hundred years of gun control in NY it’s still “just the beginning” and they’d never take it all in one shot because sooner or later they’ll need to beat on an “other” for points.

  5. That’s nice and all, but I’m a little perturbed that this “article” that looks suspiciously like an advertisement isn’t labeled as such.
