According to scribd.com, the Washington Post and the New York Times dubbed John N. Synder “The Dean of gun lobbyists.” Snyder is also a “gun law expert” and author of “Gun Saint,” a book about a Catholic saint who used hand guns in 1860 to rescue Italian villagers from a gang of terrorizing soldiers. True story, apparently, leading Snyder to form the Saint Gabriel Possenti Society. I’m not sure if it’s official, but Snyder’s group reckons Gabby is the patron saint of handgunnners, whose protection adherents invoke with the words “Saints preserve us!” when firing a gun in self-defense.
