Facebook recently announced a ban of all pages that sold guns privately. Immediately after its decision, firearms-related Facebook pages that don’t enable private one-to-one sales went dark. This does not represent a widening of Facebook’s ban. My information: anti-gun Facebook users are reporting these pages. Facebook then pulled the plug without any further vetting. When we contacted Facebook directly, they verified the fact that the pages are not in violation of their policy and republish them. Here’s a report on the process from 1 Million Moms Against Gun Control . . .

Yesterday, we worked together with Facebook to restore a few pages that were removed for violations of the “Community Standards” update on the sale of firearms. The pages included Santa Cruz Armory and NorCal MedTac, among several others, including a private group of firearms instructors.

Facebook has stated that firearms retailers and ffl dealers would NOT be subject to removal, and based on Facebook’s quick action in restoring these pages, we believe this was a coordinated attack by people who have nothing better to do with their time, and not some Facebook retaliation on Gun and second amendment groups. Although we do feel that multiple false reports to Facebook should result in some action against that users account . . .

If you or someone you know has been affected by Facebook’s policy change, and feel you/they were removed in error, please contact us here and I will put you in touch with my contact at Facebook who has the ability to escalate the situation and restore your page. I will need the link to the page that was removed.

Please please share this status so it can reach others before they’re shut down.”

If you’re an instructor, legitimate FFL or Second Amendment page that needs help getting your Facebook page restored, please send me an email with your company name, website and Facebook URL. Put FB HELP in the subject bar and send it to [email protected].

We are working to get the issues resolved as quickly as possible. If you know someone who is having issues please email them the information above and we will address it as quickly as possible. Thank you.

    • To everyone who has emailed me. We are working as fast as we can.
Right now I have confirmed a second time, someone needs to report the page for it to get flagged. This means anti gun nuts are hitting pages. The flag then automatically unpublishes the page.
I am just volunteering as a go between. I am not paid by Facebook.
Make sure you have the Url of the Facebook page that was unpublished. If you do not they can not do anything.

  1. We need our own Facebook. We could call it Gunbook. Then we wouldn’t have to put up with this crap.

  2. Everyone of us need to report anti gun sights as Civil Rights discrimination and hate speech. What they say about guns, insert a race or sexual gender or curiosity of your choice or a religious affiliation and watch the keyboard commandos cry.

  3. they need to ding Shannon and her minions. .. . I am sure FB can trace it to her, only question is if they have cajones to do something about it and piss off the midget Billionaire.

      • Dan, why spread “I’ve heard” rumors without researching it or backing up your claims? If you researched MeWe, they’re very Pro 1st and 2nd. It’s emphasis is on user privacy. It’s also a full social media platform, unlike gun pages that are merely for guns and gun groups. It’s everything you wished Facebook was.

  4. People hostile to the 2nd Amendment might as well be hostile to the spirit of the 1st*.

*note: I know full well that the Constitution applies to government action and Facebook, as a private entity, can ban anyone it wants. But the spirit of free expression that is the point of the 1st Amendment is one that liberal gun grabbers love to crap on whenever said expression does not fit within their world view.

  5. So, if you can’t win in the arena of ideas (And thinking you can convince people by insulting them shows – um – somewhat flawed understanding) shut them down, shut them up, purge them from the public square, slime them, smear them, spook them, and squeeze them, to stifle them, because we’re bugged that they exist.

Tolerance and diversity, right there. Also running a responsible utility, with equal access to all. Oh, wait.

    /Rant

Where have we seen this before? (Operation choke point, anybody? *This* is why co-opting allegedly independent businesses, to impose the regulators’ agenda is bad. Because even if you agree with them this time – on guns, say – next time it’ll be you … a notion it is apparently impossible to get into the brains of the righteously strident, until they get stifled a few times themselves. The closer The Zuck’s public / private universal service gets in bed with the politicos, the more it becomes an arm of the govt. “Nice tech company you got there, Davos-boy. Would be a shame if you were buried in a pile of National Security Letter data requests. BTW, what’s your policy on these gun things we dont’ like?” Where do the financial services companies booting gun business come from, do you think?)

Yeah, lovely people these anti-gun folks. Remember, “the process is the punishment.” Sadly, most of them are useful idiots vs. strategically malevolent. Get a clue, people.

    Dear anti’s:

Why do I feel like I might want a gun? Because people like you demonstrate every day that you’ll do whatever you can get away with to get your own way. If you’ll righteously drive people from the public square, because you can, maybe I should take seriously the calls for violence from people who advocate what you do. “We must shoot the gunny folks, to reduce gun violence.” All-righty then.

Act civilized, and maybe I’d feel a bit less need to protect myself.

    Sign me:

    – You are the “them” I’m protecting myself from.

    “Million Moms” got it right.

    – Mobilize.

    – Have a press program. We’re playing to the audience here.

    – And “Hit back twice as hard.” Conveniently, we don’t have to hit them at all. Just record and publicize what they’re doing, and they’ve already done it to themselves:

Play fair, like it’s just a mistake, but the fungo-bat goes: “Dude, doesn’t making yourself look like a REDACTED, while exposing yourself to shunning and perhaps legal action kinda defeat your purpose? Just askin. I don’t see how this helps you.” (<- That's very loaded language, BTW.)

Fair's fair. Or rather, not-fair is not-fair. I'm OK with the anti's who come straight out with declaring that pro-citizens are insane, violent, don't care about anybody else, and probably a racist. They're wrong, but honest about it. *Implying* that crap with every utterance is, well, don't go full-Piers Morgan. "A big enough REDACTED to get booted from two different media tribes, an ocean apart, is no way to go through life, Musket."

So, I don't mind asking anti-activists when they stopped beating their significant other. With sticks sized to compensate for their REDACTED. Or, why they have to make themselves look like such REDACTEDs. Or, when they realized their argument is so weak, they decided to resort to abuse and shunning.

You only insist the other side shut up when you can't out argue them. So, thanks for validating our position. Also, if you aren't winning, you throw a "get people banned" tantrum, like a 2-year-old? That's what you got? OK, arguing from authority, I'm gonna listen to people with the reason, discipline and behavior of two-year-olds. Oh, wait. (I should lay off the insinuation. It's unseemly to keep pummeling opponents so inept. Really, I'm not even annoyed that they play this way while acting all righteous. It's that they're so bad at it. Go read anything from the Algonquin Round Table. Come back when you have some skill with the language. I'll wait.)

Creeping toward somewhat higher ground, I will say…

I look forward to regular press updates referring to the MM stats page, counting up the people and businesses targeted, appealed to Facebook, that Facebook had to unwind. "Look forward to" doesn't mean "expect to see", but you know, I could be surprised. (By these folks, not yet.))

As MM seems to be pretty organized, *the failure to report the story, becomes the story, eventually*. So, put out the press releases. Rally support, like via TTAG. Contact media folks, and reporters on the tech beat; business folks noting the implosion of Web 2.0 (I thought that was the last one, but apparently, these people can only count up to 10-base-2.); free speech / civil rights advocates; anti-corporatists and occupy proclaimers.

The record of all this outreach becomes fodder for the other story, which puts the people who decline to follow the original story right in the docket. (See how I didn't say "cross-hairs" right there? Also, not calling for "muscle" to drive people I don't agree with out of an allegedly public communication venue.)

Why make the message-management the issue? The stifling of out groups? The use of anonymous, mass media? The identification of scapegoat minorities, from which we can take a little for the greater good. It's OK because there's only a few of them harmed – or rather not bugged at all, given that they go along with an egregious hurdle despite the burden, imposed – and besides, they aren't real people anyway: they're just bitter clingers.

The othering, message management, attack through calumny, labeling and silencing *is* the issue, because the propaganda machine of the National Socialist Workers Party in Germany is supposed to be a negative example, not a how-to manual.(*)

Next we'll have signs on businesses, campuses, and govt offices saying "pro-gun not permitted."

    Oh, wait.

(*) Yes, I went full Godwin's law. And apparently, I wasn't done slamming these dishonest REDACTED. However, if the jackboot fits…

  6. Godspeed, sir. I’ll continue to publish my “extremist” right wing agenda which includes such radical ideas such as limited government, checks and balances, freedom, and respect for civil rights.

  7. My ( at the time ) teenage daughter’s 50 year old male Spanish teacher masqueraded as his imaginary teenage daughter on Fake Book. Sort of my opinion of the whole thing.

      • Agree MurrDog and Geoff PR.

I can’t imagine what it is like to go through life with a high ambition to be a vindictive thorn in the side of people who you know nothing about, but whom you decide to demonize because they don’t fall in step and conform with your, or you’re political group’s, demands. As far as I can tell, these anti-gun followers and doo-gooders don’t even have any “skin in the game” to justify their malicious behavior.

Intimidation, vandalism; isn’t that the tactics of anarchists and union thugs – and the Democrat party.

  8. Sounds to me like its time to report the anti-gun FB pages. After all, they publish lies, they promote women getting raped, and they are anti-Constitutional freedoms.

  9. Its the same game they run on dissenting voices on Youtube. If you cant win the debate, silence the opposition.

  10. This is part of the culture war Pat Buchanan spoke about. He was called a racist for saying that. He is not a bigot but calling anyone a bigot instead of addressing an issue is classic distraction tactics.
The progressive does not believe in individual freedom.

  11. Moms demand action for gun sense and their minions were openly bragging that they got the go ahead from face book to use the search function and troll every gun page they could find and report them. It is widely believed that Sheryl Sandberg is a member or at least very friendly to MDA. Don’t believe us? Go to their page and see for yourself. Kind of funny that Facebook won’t hold MDA responsible for their violations of their so called community standards isn’t it?
