A 19-year-old man is facing charges after an altercation inside a crowded Walmart in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Christmas Eve escalated into a shooting, police said.
The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) reported that Labron Gibson, 19, was charged with four counts of aggravated assault after allegedly initiating the confrontation, during which he displayed a firearm.
The Incident
The shooting occurred around 12:45 p.m. at the busy Walmart where hundreds were busy doing last minute Christmas shopping. Officers from the CPD and deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to several 911 calls reporting gunfire inside the store.
When law enforcement arrived, they secured the store, ensured there was no active threat, and searched the parking lot for the individuals involved.
Investigators determined that Gibson was the primary aggressor, brandishing a firearm during the incident. Another individual, who was shopping with his family, acted in self-defense, according to police. The armed citizen fired multiple shots, striking Gibson.
Gibson managed to leave the scene and drove himself to a local healthcare facility for treatment. He was later transported to a hospital in Nashville and will be taken to the Montgomery County Jail upon his release, police said.
Police Clarify the Situation
In response to the concerns of citizens in the area, authorities emphasized this was not an active shooter situation. CPD spokespersons stated that the armed citizen acted to protect his family in a moment of immediate danger.
“This was not a random act of violence,” police clarified. “The defensive actions taken by the second individual were in response to a direct threat.”
Pending Investigation
As the investigation continues, authorities have not released further details about the armed citizen or the circumstances leading up to the confrontation. All individuals involved are cooperating with law enforcement.
Gibson faces significant charges stemming from the incident, highlighting the importance of responsible firearm use and the legal implications of brandishing a weapon in a public setting.
The actions of the armed citizen underscores the value of lawful concealed carry and self-defense, particularly in protecting innocent lives during volatile situations.
Latrine wanted that last 57″ flat screen, yo…
Labron Molignon Tutsoon
Labron Gibson……’Nuff said. But wait, how did he acquire a handgun at 19? Hmm, looks like we need to make tougher laws that only affect the law abiding.
The thing these idiots believe is that they are the only individual there with a weapon. They fail to understand there are others that are armed with the skill and the determination to use those skills. Good luck to the idiots. lol
fyi
I shop at this Walmart. It’s about 15 minutes from my house. They have had two other shootings at this store. One where an employee was killed. And one where a customer was killed.
Also they had a gun fight across the street. I took pictures of the over 100 brass casings, left all over the ground.
As I have said before on TTAG. I carry a gun wherever I go.
Some parts of the united states are simply more dangerous than others. That is something that the gun grabbers are incapable of understanding.
Which makes them just as dangerous as the criminals.
Hi Chris. Stay safe, man!
And while you’re doing that, consider please, that 60% of all non-suicide deaths by firearm are from…wait for it…
Gangs.
None of these resulted in deaths (that I know of), but I think we can still apply that 60% figure just to the gun crimes you mentioned.
So the incident of this article is 1.
Two others as noted by you is 1+2=3
And the shooting across the street is 3+1=4.
None of these were suicides.
4 * .6 = 2.4, so…
2.4 of these COULD have been committed by gang members.
Round down or round up, and you have 2 or 3 of these incidents were started by gang members.
Be careful, Chris. It’s possible that you and your law-abiding family and neighbors have a gang problem in your area.
I would even go so far as to say if that’s true, then it’s possibly the fault of the Liberals and Libertarian voters suckling off the teet of conservatism in the Nashville area.
Yeah, that’s probably really insensitive of me to say that.
I’m pretty sure Nashville has almost always been liberal. They used to be pretty normal, but I heard they got caught up in the woke social issues lately with the rest of the idiot left wingers. It’s a combination of affluent virtue signalers and young alt lifestyle type people. The good news is that conservatives fleeing blue states have been moving there.
Only two TN areas voted Dem in 2020: Memphis and Nashville. So the state redrew the district lines to dilute the Nashville vote haha. They split it into three different districts. There’s no chance of diluting the Memphis votes.
which is telling ’cause the highest crime rates in the state are Nashville and Memphis thus giving the state what looks like a higher crime rate is stats for states when in reality its concentrated in the blue areas in the state, and its not the state its self.
“That is something that the gun grabbers are incapable of understanding.”
Actually, it is inarguable that if there are no guns among the populace, gun crime automatically drops to zero. Anti-gunners understand this, pro-gunners maybe not so much?
Related note: While personally opposed to the death penalty, the public would probably prosper if all law breaking carried a mandatory death penalty.
a few years ago I read an article, the abridged version: Basically…. proposed all violent crime perpetrators receive a mandatory maximum 5 year sentence, no parole. During that time they are given expedited priority access to the appeals process, and all the free legal aid and attorney representation and resources they need, but a max of three appeals. If at the end of the 5 year period their conviction is not over turned they are executed, and if over turned before the 5 years is up they go free.
“If at the end of the 5 year period their conviction is not over turned they are executed, and if over turned before the 5 years is up they go free.”
Quite an interesting proposition, but inefficient; takes too long. Convene a jury upon arrest, conclude the penalty while the jury is still on the scene.
There will always be guns; all gun control does, is give undisputed control of guns to the government. Explain how *that* is such a good idea.
“…all gun control does, is give undisputed control of guns to the government. Explain how *that* is such a good idea.”
Not a matter of good/bad, but a mathematical certainty; can’t do something for which there is no tool, so, at the core complete elimination of firearms in the hands (legally or not) results in the complete elimination of gun crime/violence on the part of the populace. The anti-gunner stance has solid logic, on that matter.
You’re too funny…’complete elimination of firearms’ is the same as saying the complete elimination of oxygen would eliminate cancer. There is NO way to eliminate all guns, whether it’s a good idea or not.
When most of us make an argument we use a modicum of logic. You might want to to try that some time. Wishful thinking is the world of unicorns and democrats. The rest of us actually think before we open our mouth (or type on our keyboard.)
Gee Thom, are you new here? Never mind, we all know the answer to that question! I see that you haven’t been exposed to Sam’s very dry and sarcastic wit… or at least haven’t learned to recognize it yet!
That’s OK, we were all new here at one time. You’ll get used to it – if you stick around.
Ok obviously someone is an Idiot, thinking let’s brandish and try to intimidate someone in Clarksville Tennessee. Too bad they did not win the Darwin Award
The perp might win the next “room temperature challenge”.
i was in a wal mart once, near valpo. we needed ammo and beer.
Oh, look! One of the usual suspects! Say it ain’t so!
Its why i carry. I hope I never have to use it. Was a civilian and military cop and thank the lord I never had to use my weapon.
A simple “like” would suffice for my response to this story.
Weapons cannot be used indiscriminately
No kidding! Fortunately for the citizen who was defending his loved ones, this is NOT the case.
