911 calls rang out in the early morning hours of September 22nd reporting gunshots and a male seen lying on the ground in Henderson, Nevada, according to officials.

If you need yet another eye-rolling reference to provide the next easily led automaton who questions why you need a gun, here’s one more for the dumpster fire. Now, you never really know what anyone is up to taking a stroll at 4 AM on a Saturday, but Henderson is Las Vegas adjacent and we all know that city never sleeps. Not to mention, this is America, and I’ll take a walk whenever I feel like it.

While we should be able to take a walk, go to the grocery store or play with our children at the park without fear of violent criminals trying to ruin our day, it seems the powers that be are far too busy trying to restrict law-abiding citizens while all but giving license to those with total disregard for decency. Luckily, although Nevada is looking far too purple for my taste, it is still a state where gun laws are marginally decent, and carrying a gun is still a way of life for many.

One such individual, our hero in this story, was enjoying those cool morning hours prior to the rise of the blistering desert sun when he was approached by an armed bad guy who demanded he turn over his wallet and cell phone. Having already decided, however, that playing the role of victim just wasn’t his thing, our hero was carrying his own firearm, which he used to politely decline the intrusive demands of our villain, shooting him dead on the spot. Okay, maybe it wasn’t so polite, but you have to admit it was effective, and who can honestly go without their cell phone these days for more than five minutes?

When Henderson Police and Fire Departments responded to the 1000 block of Wellness Place, detectives on the scene were greeted by the only participant of the encounter who still had a heartbeat, a 33-year-old man who was unsurprisingly cooperative with authorities, as most in the 2A community tend to be.

Officials have preliminarily determined that the man, fearing for his life, fired multiple rounds from his gun striking the unknown male assailant. Ever diligent, paramedics did attempt to save the suspect’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, with no other injuries to report.

Carrying a firearm is a huge responsibility, one that we hope to never unholster. Being prepared and well-trained is a great idea, especially if you live in or around big cities, where violent crime is most prevalent. While an induced dirt nap can be unfortunate, for our shooter it is a fact that means he is still with us today to live his life and pursue his goals, quite how the Founding Fathers meant things to be.

  1. Funny thing, as more and more people start taking agency for their own personal safety, these kinds of stories will go down, not up.

That old adage is as true as ever, “An armed society is a polite society”.

People wont go for “Wallet and Phones” from random people nearly as often as they discover that the odds to being able to face an unarmed victim drops.

  2. Now, see, this is the sort of thing that makes us lose public support for the Second Amendment.

First – the incident did not happen, as it was not on video from start to finish; no video, didn’t happen. Even with video, AI makes it impossible to prove “live or memorex”.

Second- while a person has every natural, civil and human right to walk wherever, or whenever, the shooter should have been at home, and not on the street. If not on the street, both individuals would be alive today. In truth, nobody has no business walking around at 4AM, in any city. The shooter has an obligation to society to not do things that could possible result in a crime. It is settled science.

Third – the shooter should be investigated for not using de-escalation methods to disuade the victim, and resolve the incident amicably.

Fourth – by being on the street at 4AM, and armed with a gun means the shooter was just looking for an excuse to shoot someone, probably with cop killer ammunition.

5 – In every defensive shooting, there is a chain of events, that if interupted at any point, prevents the shooting. It was/is up to the shooter to not set things in motion in the first place. Indeed, the shooter used disproportional force in that simply walking away would have broken the chain of events.

    6 – Orange Man bad.

    • what ‘shooter’?

There was a criminal and a victim. Victim defended against criminal – victim gets to go home, criminal gets to go to the grave – end of story.

      • “There was a criminal and a victim. Victim defended against criminal.”

There was a shooter, and the victim of the shot.

(Seriously, guys, don’t overthink this one; the clues are all there)

      • Never had to get to work early by public transport to support customers in other parts of the world in different time zones?

  3. unless a person has documentation to verify their reason for being on the streets after 24:00 no one should be out walking
late night muggings are extremely rare in a well controlled and disciplined society
it appears to me the freedom american citizens cherish revolves around violence

    • There are many many people in America who work late/night shifts and are going home at that time. In so doing, they are targeted primarily because there are few if any witnesses around at that time of night. They have the right to defend themselves from criminals, and our legal system does not require them to “show their papers” because of the hour; they do not have to explain themselves at all absent circumstances indicating their involvement in a crime.

  4. We need more gun porn detail in these stories. What caliber were the firearms?? What model? Distance to perp? How many shots?

    • Where in the body did the shots connect?

Which shot was the cause of death and how long did it take for heartbeat to stop?

How much blood was scraped up off the street?
