A new Rasmussen poll showing President Joe Biden has lost ground among likely U.S. voters for his handling of crime and law enforcement issues helps explain the continued interest in private gun ownership, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

According to Rasmussen’s survey, 51 percent of likely voters give Biden a poor rating for his ability to handle rising crime. Back in July, 48 percent of poll respondents gave the president bad marks on this subject. Rasmussen revealed 77 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of Independents rate the president’s handling of crime and law enforcement issues to be poor.

According to the FBI National Instant Check System (NICS), more than 35.7 million background checks have been initiated so far this year, and while that number does not reflect actual gun sales, it does indicate a strong continuing interest in gun ownership.

“Since Joe Biden took office,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “millions of Americans who had never before owned a firearm bought one. During the week leading up to ‘Black Friday’ in November, there were more than 687,000 NICS checks initiated, and we anticipate strong numbers for December when the final tally is available.

“Since Biden took office,” he continued, “police agencies have continued to lose personnel, crime has spiked upward and increasing numbers of Americans have taken more responsibility for their personal safety and that of their families. For a guy who came into office promising more restrictions on legal firearms ownership, Joe Biden has only stoked gun sales because his policies are making Americans feel less safe, because, in fact, they are .

“Joe Biden and his handlers need to face reality,” Gottlieb observed. “Their policies and performance do not resonate with the majority of citizens. When you throw in Rasmussen’s revelation that 67 percent of likely voters think the country is headed in the wrong direction, you have a disaster on your hands, people have lost faith in their ability to lead, and they are preparing for the worst. It’s a signal that Biden should leave gun rights alone for the remainder of his time in office.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

  1. Apparently a lot more people were taught about the bill of rights than they thought! Or they’re just plain too scared to be unarmed. Either way, the cause falls directly on D.C.!!!

    • Is this a bad thing? Fewer cops to enforce unjust laws. More citizens who are increasingly preventing violent crime. More criminals who understand that while crime pays, they are getting a paycut, and a terminal retirement plan. I think this is a return to a simpler time.

      • There is a great truth to that, and that’s an official Martha Stewart ‘Good Thing’.

Criminal makes a simple reward/risk calculation and decides not to attack someone who appears easy prey, because he doesn’t know if the target may or may not be armed.

“I think this is a return to a simpler time.”

And we may be 6 months out on finding out… 😉

    • Biden has a lot to answer for, but IMO it’s the governments of blue cities, counties, and states that deserve the credit and the blame. They’re the ones responsible for making and enforcing fair and impartial law.

  2. biden has low approval ratings.
    americans like firearms.
at least they somewhat reworded the headline a bit.

  3. We’ve always found ways to come together. We could find that unity again, and the message said end of message.

    • “We’ve always found ways to come together.”

The last time we’ve had actual political unity was a brief time immediately following the 9/11 terror attacks.

Since then, not so much… 🙁

      • I don’t really remember much unity after 9/11. I argued long and loud against the Patriot Act, the Department of Homeland Security, the invasion of Iraq, lax border security, the TSA, and other stupidity in general. Always, it seems that I argued alone, or nearly alone. The masses of sheeple seem to be happy marching in lockstep to the beat of a tyrant’s drum.

        • Paul, I am sure you did argue against the Patriot Act. You didn’t mind that 19 terrorists crashed three airliners and killed 3000 people. For your edification WMD were found in Iraq; even the NYT had to admit that. Laxed border security has been a problem mostly under DEMONcRAT administrations. What is your problem with the TSA and the Dept of Homeland Security?

        • ” For your edification WMD were found in Iraq ”

Gee, I must have missed those headlines. From what I’ve been reading, no WMDs were found — certainly not the ones that the Bush administration claimed were there.

” What is your problem with the TSA and the Dept of Homeland Security? ”

The TSA has shown itself to be a useless agency time and time again. One never hears about how they stopped any serious threats, only about how lax the enforcement is. TSA, and to a large degree DHS, have turned into a jobs program for flunkie wanna-be cops.

As soon as I heard the term “Department of Homeland Security” my first thought was Gestapo. Fortunately they have proven too inept to pull that one off.

    • Reminds me of Will Roger’s story about the bootleggers in Oklahoma.
They all voted No on repealing prohibition.

  4. Joe Biden and his handlers need to face reality. Their policies and performance do not resonate with the majority of citizens.

The Ruling Class does not care what resonates with the populace. Rather, the Ruling Class cares about what increases their wealth and power. To that end the Ruling Class will do whatever they can get away with. Any efforts to “resonate with the populace” are merely efforts to pacify the populace.

…67 percent of likely voters think the country is headed in the wrong direction…people have lost faith in their ability to lead…

Again, the Ruling Class does not care. And there are credible reasons to believe that the Ruling Class actually wants the populace to lose faith and feel despair because that is a necessary precondition to accelerate the pace and magnitude of exploiting the populace. Saying it another way, it is easily explainable as part of an actual plan to literally “wear people down” to the point that they will comply with almost anything.

    • ” precondition to accelerate the pace and magnitude of exploiting the populace ”

I’d say that exploiting the populace when the populace has lost faith in their ability to lead is a bit of a non sequitur.

      • UpInArms,

In my comment above, government “leadership” means having great policies which are obviously effective and have widespread popular support. Note that such a situation would invigorate the populace which reduces the pace and magnitude to which the Ruling Class can exploit and abuse them.

Do not think for a moment that poor “leadership” means government lacks the ability to violently enforce the will of the Ruling Class.

In order for one entity to exploit and abuse another entity without resorting to full-on physically beating every single member of that other entity into submission (which is difficult to do and runs the risk of the victim entity lashing out), the aggressor has to inflict a series of demoralizing mental “blows” which wears down the victim into submission.

Think about an abusive husband. If he simply beats his wife to a pulp every day, she will fight back or leave. Instead, he has to continually wear her down with constant insults and demoralizing events. His “leadership” skills are not a part of the equation. In fact, if he had great “leadership” skills, that might instill a glimmer of hope in his wife that he can be better and inspire her to pursue collaboration rather than consign herself to one-way exploitation and abuse. She could say, “See, you worked with that other person and the results were nice. We can do the same so stop abusing me.”

  5. So I guess everybody is going along with the DNC in claiming that Biden had some sort of approval rating to begin with…

  6. UUUM , HE HELPING IN AWAY TO SELL MORE WEAPONS AND AMMO ???
TRUTH IS I BOUGHT 2 MORE OK OK THREE WEAPONS N 2021 OK OK FOUR , PART OF BUCKET LIST AND PLANNED GETTING THEM IN NEAR FUTURE ANYWAY BEFORE ANY MORE PRICE INCREASE ..THER NOW YA ALL KNOW THA WHOLE STORY .
PAPER TARGET GOING DOWN . YES BANG AWAY .
OK OK IS WAS FIVE .

  7. It is unfortunate that many law abiding firearm owners may be put in the situation of having to defend themselves against our own government if this continual overreach in all areas of American Society continues. Our Founding Fathers were very clear in condoning removal of tyrannical governments by any means necessary when they have breached their oath to protect and serve their constituents. I am not sure I can find a single example where this administration has made a serious effort to legitimately protect and serve American Citizens as a whole. We have far more problems now than when a legally elected President Trump was in office. Now we have an illegally elected President acting like a Socialist Dictator. I don’t think the vast majority of American Citizens intend to put up with this much longer and quite frankly I don’t think either our local law enforcement or military is going to do the same. You can’t abuse your population which vastly outnumbers your supporters and expect to win the day.

  8. Here we go again: quoting stats, without details of how the stats were derived. “Approval” polls are particularly misleading. When you ask a person “approve, or disapprove”, there will always be people who are dissatisfied because whichever politician is not doing enough, either way. If Biden isn’t tough enough, both Left and Right will disapprove for different reasons. Reasons that tell us nothing.

Do the majority of disapprovals regarding law enforcement mean law abiding people are upset because not enough people are punished for crime? Or do the majority disapprove because the president isn’t doing enough to make to keep people out of jail?

    Don’t take “approval” polls seriously.

    • I appreciate you Jack! Did you ever think five years ago think every second or third ad out of five or six should turn out to be biracial couples?

      • well Joe…If it’s not Shouting Fire when there is none it’s called free speech and often includes couples consisting of two men which makes me wonder which one decides who the husband is, etc?
Ads work this way…either they sell or they do not. When they do not they change, in the meantime wait for them to fizzle or ignore them, don’t watch any tv or change the channel. It’s called Free Speech and like The 2A you must defend it otherwise forums like this that also appear to you in Black and White are at risk.

  9. “Did you ever think five years ago think every second or third ad out of five or six should turn out to be biracial couples?”

As President Slojoe said, “They’re selling you something.”

  10. theBidens approval ratings are 99.9 per cent, however false news propaganda twist those facts just to make him look bad.
theBiden is the most greatest president America ever had.
I love him and so should everyone else.
He will get my votes, all 5 or 6 of them, maybe more depends on how many postage stamps I have.
I’ have pictures of him plastered all over the house, even took down my Ho Chi Minh’s to make room for his.
I even made a statue of him out of mud, good wholesome mud, not republican mud.
Now I know it may look like a phallic symbol with a head on it because I’m not that good with mud statues, but trust me it’s the President Joe theBiden
If a person doesn’t love theBiden and what he’s did to America then they should move, or better move, to a different country.

    • “Now I know it may look like a phallic symbol with a head on it because I’m not that good with mud statues, but trust me it’s the President Joe theBiden.”

      Yay. Let’s go Brandon.

  11. So just what is Biden supposed to do concerning crime? He isn’t the governor of any state with control of state police policies, he doesn’t have control of legeslative bodies of the states that write the laws of said states, he isn’t the mayor or Sherriff of any city or country who gives the orders to local or county LEO’s At best he can direct the DOJ to enforce or ignore Federal laws. Few of which have any real impact on crime in any particular area. Sure, the Feds can, and should investigate and arrest those involved in interstate crimes. As they should investigate those involved in crimes against the country like treason or terrorism.
Now, I have my reasons for not supporting Bidens agenda. And my opinion is he is not competent to be in the office he currently occupies. But, then I could say much the same for many people holding elective office from the local level through the White House.

    • “So just what is Biden supposed to do concerning crime?”

Issue Executive Orders, and sponsor federal legislation, that makes all crime a federal felony. In addition, lead a federal takeover of law enforcement at all levels, in every state.

    • Creepy Joe could, at the very least, shake a finger at the Squat Squad, and shush them. And, he could scold Soros for funding all those do-nothing, undermine-the-constitution prosecuting attorneys.

Oh, I’m sorry. Sleepy Joe approves of all the crazies in his party. That’s why he’s in the party – the crazies approve of him and his version of crazy.

Immigrant Joe contributed to the lawlessness pretty directly, when he told the world to “Surge the Border”.

    • ” So just what is Biden supposed to do concerning crime? ”

You’re right — Street crime is not in his wheelhouse. He should have known that before he started making a lot of noise about doing something about it. Meanwhile, those areas that are in his wheelhouse — like illegal immigration and corruption (see: Hunter Biden) — he ain’t done jacksh!t.

  12. If only all those jerks who said they would leave if Trump had been elected had just kept their word. Instead they hang around and whine about Trump replacing Ginsberg, bitch about the 1st and 2nd Amendments, and vote for that senile idiot Biden. Ugg!
