“Republican State Rep. Jeff Leach has filed a bill to give Texas gun-buyers a break — making Texas Independence Day (March 2) a tax-free holiday for anyone who purchases a rifle, pistol, shotgun or semi-automatic,” trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com reports. “Buy a gun, skip the sales tax. Leach calls his bill the Texas Gun Ownership Reinforcement Act. ‘Texas must take the lead in the fight against the federal government’s attempts to infringe on our Second Amendment Rights,’ Leach said in a statement. ‘As we fight against the federal government’s overreach, there is no more appropriate day to instate this tax-free holiday than on Texas Independence Day.'” Yes, well, there might be a more appropriate year. The Lone Star State is hardly immune from the ammo and firearms drought afflicting the nation. Still, it’s the thought that counts.
Not enough time to get it done this year, maybe for next.
If we’re around and there’s a TTAG this time next year. I think it’s cool that Texas Independence Day is on my birthday. Sam Houston’s, too.
Well you know the old saying it is the thought that counts, and if this passes it means every year will be a March second buying madness. What’s wrong with that!
So I give him props..
Generals and Admirals Demand A Plan in support of MAIG
30 Second video

How about we have a video demanding the 2A is upheld with real trigger pullers.
Once again the important people who were guarded by guns don’t think you’re worthy to have a gun. All these guys had PSD teams assigned to them when they were active duty since they were flag officers.
I’ve never heard of any of these guys. Only one was a three star, the rest two and one star. There are many thousands of flag and general officers on the retired list. I will make a guess that ones holding the oposite opinion outnumber these guys by a ratio of ten to one.
Traitors to their Oaths. Political hookers.
Time to invest in RCBS and Dillion accessories.
More incentive to be stationed down there in 2014.
DEMAND A BODYGUARD,
I see where you’re going with that, and I like it!!!!
If something like this happened in CA (ROFL!) I’d be back-ordering the living crap out of anything I could back-order.
Noveske 300BLK upper? Yes please! How about a Noveske 5.56 chrome-lined upper for heavy use in training and competition? Sure, throw that in!
Or as an alternative to Jeff’s overwhelming day of generosity, you could choose one of the remaining 364 days and go buy your gun(s) from Buds. And pay no tax also.
Just a thought.
Or Bud’s competitor Kygunco.com
The only problem with ordering online is if you don’t have a FFL, then the shipping and transfer fee cost more than the tax.
Righteous!
The older I get the more I appreciate and respect Texas.
Like any state, it has it’s good and bad. Google Texas civil forfeiture laws and see if your blood doesn’t boil.
Cool. Now if the Texas legislature could conjur up some 9mm ammo for me I’d appreciate it…
I am finding a steady trickle of 9mm. It is the .45acp and .22lr that have vanished.
Doesn’t something like 85% of all 22LR made in this country come from CCI and gets re-branded for Federal and some others?
That’s it…Texas is now officially my retirement destination…
Why is a Houston station pirating video from a San Antonio station interviewing the owner of the highest-priced gun shop in town?
Maybe they wanted to visit the river walk? Get some BBQ? See the Alamo?
Yeah, the story is from San Antonio and that gun shop is a joke to SA shooters. Before the current price gouging episode, their prices were always twice that of legitimate gun shops/retailers. This shop makes their living taking advantage of those who don’t know any better…
Great plan and I hope it passes!
Dammit! Knew I should have held off on buying that XD!
I wasn’t born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could! I call myself naturalized cuz I’ve lived in Texas longer than any other state.
