Today’s NY Daily News ran an editorial claiming that the Congressional investigation into the ATF’s Gunwalker scandal is a red herring. It’s just the Republicans trying to score political points. “What we really need are tougher gun laws,” the headline and body copy proclaim. I find this analysis so appalling that I have nothing to say on the matter. Instead, I’d like to republish something that U.S. Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry wrote and kept on his person. It was on his body the morning that drug thugs wielding ATF-enabled firearms shot and killed the Marine, who never saw that his employer was aiding and abetting his enemy. Which is probably just as well . . .

If Today Is to Be the Day…So Be It

If you seek to do battle with me this day, you will receive the best that I am capable of giving.

It may not be enough, but it will be everything that I have to give and it will be impressive for I have constantly prepared myself for this day.

I have trained, drilled and rehearsed my actions so that I might have the best chance of defeating you.

I have kept myself in peak physical condition, schooled myself in the martial skills and have become proficient in the applications of combat tactics.

You may defeat me, but I’m willing to die if necessary. I do not fear death for I have been close enough to it on enough occasions that it no longer concerns me.

But, I do fear the loss of my honor and would rather die fighting than to have it said that I was without courage.

So I will fight you, no matter how insurmountable it may seem, to the death if need be, in order that it may never be said of me that I was not a warrior.

  1. There isn’t a way to spin it. A brave man was ready to die and the people who wrote and signed his paycheck got it cashed. That’s what it is.

  2. The editorial was written by a Congressional Representative. The only person trying to score political points is Maloney.

Unreal. The woman is seriously delusional.

  3. The mainstream media is no longer relevant.

They, and we, know this and they are now in their final death throes – grasping and clutching what remains of an ever-dwindling readership with taller and more ridiculous fairy tales.

Reading one of its articles/editorials is like reading a rambling, delusional, incoherent essay by a schizophrenic. It has no bearing on what I believe and is a total waste of my time – just like reading a ranting diatribe from any radical group would be. While it’s mildly interesting and amusing to get a glimpse of some of the people who share citizenship with me, I view them in much the same way that I view my fellow citizens who are Marxists, KKK-ers, Socialists, Nazis, and who have been abducted and programmed by aliens.

History will record these past few years as the years that “traditional” media died and Internet media/bloggers took over. The only challenge for me, is wading through the huge amount of information on the Intertubes to determine the reliable sources. Fortunately, this isn’t too terribly difficult, and I thank TTAG for being one of the good guys.

  4. Those that were responsible for Agent Terry’s death know nothing of honor, courage or integrity. Nor do they know shame or repentance. I can only hope that they will feel the hand of justice and that a just retribution will be rendered to them.

Rest in peace Brian Terry. Semper Fidelis. Watch over us and keep faith that your true countrymen will see that justice is done.

  5. Melson , Holder and their fellow lackeys should be made to read this out loud at the hearings every time before they swear their oaths and then be FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. If one person dies from a gun, than it is too many, well except for this instance because it’s not convenient and questions our own ability to manage the weapons we strive to keep for ourselves only.

  7. “Baloney Maloney” as she is known by some in her district is just another example of how the longer you stay in Congress, the more you are corrupted by the place.

She has obviously “gotten the memo”, and is lining up behind Elijah Cummings, and the administration to double down, in desperation- just another sign of how low they will go, to pervert the truth.

    1. “Like the Bush admin” – is both a logical fail
(tu quo que “they did it too!) that any parent of teenagers can see thru,
    and
    an outright falsehood.

    Specifically, the Bush era programs guns;
    a. WERE tracked, and stopped prior to going over the border
    b. WERE coordinated with partners, in advance, most important MEXICO
    c. WERE approved at highest level, with consent and approval.

    2. The repeat reference to the already proven false facts of 90%, 84%, 70% (pick your own) of “guns from US gun shops in Mexico crimes” is just another outright lie, that is particularly mendacious coming from someone who has done good work in complicated investigations in corruption cases and fiscal investigations earlier in her career.

    3. I’d give credit to the high-minded moralizing on “political game playing” if it didn’t come from someone rated by the NRA as “F” for her consistent votes on gun legislation.

While its clear the Congresswoman knows no shame, I wonder how her constituents feel about how she represents NY to the nation, and by extension, how she reflects on their judgement, in keeping her in office in future.

Keep spreading the word, Robert- bit by bit, its getting out there.

  8. We need gun control laws alright, laws against government agencies telling shop owners to break the law because of some James Bond secret plot going on. How about we pass gun control laws that prevent our government from selling guns to foreign entities? Let them make their own tools.

  9. i sleep soundly at night knowing hard men like Bryan terry are out there protecting us, i have nightmares that cowardly men like Eric holder are their bosses
