I couldn’t care less what consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedroom. Or, for that matter, on a public thoroughfare. Want to walk down a city street wearing nothing but a dog collar and a LGBT bandana? You go girl! Boy. Boy -> girl. Girl -> boy. Whatever. But I do have a problem with a federal agency spending my tax money recognizing “the accomplishments and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans to ATF and the nation, and to promote awareness of the LGBT culture.” So what contributions have LGBT Americans made to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (and Really Big Fires) that has anything whatsoever to do with their sexual orientation? The press release gives us the 411 . .

ATF Pridewith the primary goal of ensuring equal employment opportunity and enhancing development opportunities for LGBT employees at the agency.
So the ATF’s LGBT members’ most important contribution to the Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight (so to speak): they’ve made it easier for LGBT employees to ascend the career ladder. If this was a blacks-only organization, they’d be accused of racism. Oops! Sorry, I meant whites-only.
Anyway, doesn’t the ATF have better things to do? I’m thinking . . . seppuku. Did I say thinking? Dreaming.

Yeah, it seems all the government agencies are good for are to force deviant social agenda’s down our throats. Maybe if they stay distracted with the LGBT affinity group they would forget about gun control or confiscation.

I am not quite as concerned as you. It seems that the ATF held an “observance” of LGBT contributions to their agency, and they brought in Barney Frank, an openly gay member of congress to speak. Since this event was in Washington, I’d imagine that there was little or no expense to get Frank there as a speaker. This was not a huge public display, and I would imagine that there were minimal costs involved.
Do we all feel the same way about the millions of dollars spent on armed forces recruitment by supporting NASCAR racing teams. From what I have read, those have enticed relatively few new recruits while spending almost 100 million dollars over the past decade.
As a gay-lesbian-transgender-lady boy, I am offended! What I do/put/slash/change is for me to shove down your throat, not for you to comment on or wonder about! I am offended that I was not given the chance to display my person to you without your consent or my care! I demand recompense for my loss! I’m gay dammit and the world should know! But don’t tell me about your straightness as I may be sick.
This answers a lot of questions for me, Buuurr. But it doesn’t mean we can’t make a fine shooter out of you someday. It’s about skill and discipline, not what hormones or genital hardware you are sporting.

Since I have not seen any AKs and ARs with the new “Rainbow Pride” rainbow colored stocks yet, I would assume not. The lack of trendy accessories to go with the ARs could indicate that the cartels may be in need of sensitivity training and more inclusion of LGBT individuals in their armories. Who said that drug cartel’s guns should not be fabulous?
Seems to me like the industry is missing some marketing opportunities here.
I find some of the comments on this thread strange. Given the seriousness of the ATF’s other problems and the fact that this initiative does not even amount to rounding error on their budget, it seems an odd thing for someone to riled up over.
Ya know, I respect other people and their lifestyles, as long as they’re not hurting children or animals or each other. That said, I don’t want it shoved down my throat-what a pun. The whole context is strange and a bit questionable. Obviously a diversionary tactic given the ATF’s troubles.
Ya, the shoving down the throat is what gets me too, Cujo. I have worked with too many people that tell you everyone is gay but just don’t know it. The crap gets old fast.
If the ATF wanted to check out some real accomplishments by LGBT people, the bureau didn’t need to go further than the Pink Pistols. Their motto is “Armed Gays Don’t Get Bashed.” But I guess that doesn’t really accord with the ATF’s vision of a disarmed and defenseless American citizenry.
Was Morgan Freeman who said that racism wouldn’t stop until his interviewer stopped thinking of him as a black man and he stopped thinking of the interviewer as a white man? Maybe that thinking should be considered here. After all – does genitalia or sexual orientation affect shooting – firearms – 2A rights – or the ATF blatantly breaking the law?
I think folks here are right – this is nothing about nothing and is just some pathetic attempt to smokescreen the public
