The above is the raw audio feed from the local law enforcement and fire radio network from the area responsible for Umpqua Community College. The radio recording runs from the first radio call reporting the incident and runs for 30 minutes. At 4:52 police officers report exchanging gunfire with the attacker, and confirm that the attacker has “a long gun.” Within 8 minutes the subject is in custody.

    • So I just read an eye witness report that claimed the shooter had a handgun. Possibly he had both but it’s too soon to tell right now.

  1. Annoying to hear a former navy seal and other former military being interviewed over the phone about this using terms “assault rifle” and “automatic”.

  2. Oh boy, here comes the panic buying. Anyone want to buy an Anderson stripped lower? Only $500!

    • Can colleges and universities opt out in their school’s code of conduct to prohibit students from carrying?

      • A school can ban guns on the campus, however that makes it a trespass and a school violation. As opposed to carrying a gun in a GFZ. There is only one school that I have seen post something in their student handbook about guns being banned in accordance with the ORS that talks about concealed carry.

    • Umpqua Community College has a strict no weapons policy, possibly in violation of Oregon law.

““Possession, use, or threatened use of firearms (including but not limited to BB guns, air guns, water pistols, and paint guns) ammunition, explosives, dangerous chemicals, or any other objects as weapons on college property, except as expressly authorized by law or college regulations, is prohibited.

Possession of knives with a blade longer than 4” is prohibited.

      Brandishing weapons is prohibited.

Misuse of personal defensive weapons – e.g., pepper spray, etc. is prohibited. The owner is responsible and accountable for any misuse of these devices.”

So add to the Disarmed Victim Zone death toll.

      • FOUR INCHES? That’s INSANE! Knife laws are sometimes more ridiculous than gun laws. For many years I’ve regularly carried an EDC (which variess from time to time), a watch pocket backup and a left rear pocket backup. On occasion, a neck knife also. None of these are very significant, really, besides the EDC, but different tasks will require different knives. I’ve worn then everywhere, and I DO mean everywhere, without regard to law or propriety… except for courts and municipal and state offices which prohibit them… which is stupid, also. I never leave the house with any thought or intention of using a knife to harm someone. I’m NOT ABOUT that. I just love knives.

I really got interested in them after 9/11, when the reputed use of “box cutters” led me to assume that the bat-shit crazy gun grabbers would go after edged weapons next.

It didn’t happen. Not yet, but it led to a redoubled interest in knives and various bludgeon-type defensive weaponry.

      • Never mind the knife restrictions…”water pistols”? Seriously? Nothing like getting expelled for carrying a Super Soaker or $1 squirt gun…

  3. 5 minutes to engage. They got there quick (no sarcasm). Probably due to the size of the community no doubt.

    • I thought I heard on the audio that one patrol car happened to be in the immediate area when the calls came in.

  4. 30 minutes OMG. PULL the FIRE ALARM!!!! Time to sue to school for violating Oregon law.
Gun control = TREASON. The school shooting is tragic and about as far away from Texas with its lawful campus carry. Why didn’t this dirtbag go to Texas to show how tough he really is? THIS is why people should not be harassed about carrying guns.
No double standards put DC politicians on Obamacare and SS.Thanks for your support and vote. Pass the word. mrpresident2016.com
