Who could have seen this coming? A country enacts draconian gun control legislation that makes it virtually impossible for citizens to own firearms and then calls for a complete civilian gun ban. That could be a lot of places, but today’s episode of “Who Wants To Be A Police State?” takes us to Southern Australia, where Supreme Court Justice Michael David has declared, “My view is I think our guns laws are pretty tight, they are not too bad. But my view on guns is not confined to that. In my view, and it is a fairly utopian view, I can’t see why anyone in this city should own a gun. I think a gun with a licence is just as dangerous as . . .
a gun without a licence. I think there should be a law that no-one is allowed to have a gun. I cannot see any logical reason for it at all.’’
Don’t be fooled by the Justice’s admission that a total gun ban is “utopian.” The Justice’s anti-gun extremism paves the way for yet more infringement on Australian’s natural and civil (though not Constitutionally protected) right to keep and bear arms. In other words, Oz’s anti-gunners know an opportunity when they hear one.
Mark McPherson, the father of 18-year-old Lewis McPherson who was gunned down on New Year’s Eve in 2012, supports Justice’s David’s suggestion.
He said he “absolutely’’ supported Justice David’s views on guns and believed there was “no need at all’’ for anyone in the metropolitan area to own a firearm.
“I could not agree more. Nobody in the city requires a gun,’’ he said.
“In a perfect world, no-one would have a gun and no-one could shoot anyone. But the reality is a farmer probably has a legitimate reason to have a gun. But as far as people in the city go, no they definitely should not.’’ . . .
Attorney-General John Rau, who will shortly introduce new legislation targeting those selling or supplying illegal firearms, also said he “totally agreed’’ with Justice David’s utopian view.
“If we were starting from scratch, nothing would be more desirable from my point of view,’’ he said.
“We have to, however, work to where we are, not where we might wish to be.
“However, I do think there is further room to tighten the Firearms Act, in particular to treat an unsecured firearm, whether registered or not, with exactly the same severity.”
And so it goes. So the next time someone recommends “common sense” gun laws, tell them that common sense says people who set off down a slippery slope always end up at the bottom. And that it’s harder to go uphill than it is to go down. Either that or tell them to piss off. [h/t Mark N]
He’s an idiot, and his mother dresses him funny.
This should be the Weekend Photo Caption Contest, if it were:
After having his sexual reassignment surgery, Australian Supreme Court Justice Michael (now Michelle) David has declared that after giving up his “gun” he’s all woman and is accepting gentlemen callers!
Well that’s kind of insulting. The worst trans-gender person is a proud and noble creature compared to this scum bag judge. After all this judge’s legal opinion will end up getting people killed, if he gets his way.
That tarantula on his head must have fried his brain.
That’s not a tarantula, it’s a brain sucker. And it’s starving.
Agreed.
I guess no one ever gets raped, robbed, or murdered in ‘the city’? Well, perhaps not in his circles. Elitist scum.
I wonder who does ita’ hair?
We should also outlaw crime. And that hair. Cause, damn.
A clear cut case where a man with a wig is far more dangerous than most of us with a gun…
Sure go ahead and band all firearms, then insist that law includes every victim is compensated 50K dollars for injury & mental whatever. See how far it makes it through the process. End game it’s all about the coin. What does infringement cost the government…for now nothing but ink on paper.
This is how it works. Look at the UK. Bit by bit, they stripped away legal civilian ownership of firearms.
Now Australia is doing the same. Bit by bit.
“Common sense” today, 20 years from now they go for registration and then confiscation.
Major politicians are on record in this country calling for disarmament and confiscation. But people can’t see beyond TMZ.
One of my favorite things back when I worked in a gun store was meeting immigrants (typically from Australia or the U.K.) and talking about what their previous countries were really like without the mainstream media airbrushing them into Utopian, violence-free societies.
Heh. Yeah, so ‘violence free’ that they have to whitewash and manipulate their crime statistics to make them look a whole LOT better than they actually are.
Kind of like:
King Arthur: [after Arthur’s cut off both of the Black Knight’s arms] Look, you stupid bastard, you’ve got no arms left!
Black Knight: Yes I have.
King Arthur: Look!
Black Knight: It’s just a flesh wound.
Nothing bit by bit about either one–they went in big, wide swaths and took as many of them as they could get in one massive power-grab. The only reason it’s “bit by bit” now is because there are so few left.
and they’d love to ban knives so that they could have us all eating from restaurants… feudalists.
England? There aint such a thing as an English person, so…
Heh, knives. Yes, then this is worth a read:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4581871.stm
“They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen.
None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed.
The researchers said a short pointed knife may cause a substantial superficial wound if used in an assault – but is unlikely to penetrate to inner organs.
Kitchen knives can inflict appalling wounds
In contrast, a pointed long blade pierces the body like “cutting into a ripe melon”.”

It has to be a parody. Please, tell me it is a parody.
Sorry, but it is not parody. Since guns were essentially banned in the UK, knife crime has skyrocketed. Now in the UK, to own a knife you have to justify your reason for that type of knife. And even then, you can only have it one you in the execution of that justification.
At least that’s my understanding of their law. Check it out yourself here.
Great idea in the face of the Islamic threat. Just last week, law enforcement officers took out a cell that was planning to decapitate innocent Australians at random.
In the face of the existential threat that’s facing Western Civilization, by Islam, it’s time to arm up and prepare to fight for what is rightfully ours.
I wonder why ISIS picked Australia and not, say, Birmingham, AL. Just asking.
Because many armed Americans here are ready and able to arrange for an ISIS coward to meet Allah.
Or Moore, Oklahoma……..
The Islamic beheading threat could simply be addressed by banning hatchets, scimitars, machetes, and chain saws. Nobody needs a beheading implement in the city.
Judge David doesn’t care if he gets his head cut off. After all, he’s not using it for anything except a wig stand.
I assume his head and that wig are more than likely protected by armed state enforcers.
Horse hair most like.
He’s just maintaining a long standing tradition of being a loud mouthed Aussie prick.
I can’t wait until the “nobody needs x” mentality creeps further into other parts of people’s lives. Nobody needs meat in their diet so it should be banned. Nobody needs a house larger than 500 square feet(unless you are part of the .gov or user rich then carry on). Nobody needs more than 1 child( hence the small house). Nobody needs more than 1500 calories per day( damages the environment and uses a lot of resources). Nobody needs a car with an engine larger than 1 liter, nor do they need more than one vehicle per household. Nobody needs to live past the age of 75.
These are all things I’ve read from “deep thinkers”.
Nobody needs food that tastes good, it’s cheaper to feed the population cardboard once money is outlawed and food stamps are mandatory. Nobody needs electricity during the day, that’s what the sun is for. Nobody needs electricity at night, you should be sleeping to prepare for your next day at the labor camps. Nobody needs liberty/freedom of choice, because the guy behind a desk knows what’s better for you.
@scrubula
Soylent green is people!
Ah, you have been reading books and statements written by people in Obama’s inner circle. They are very similar views held by the Fascists in the 1930’s. Scary stuff isn’t it.
That sort of “deep thought” is exactly why we need a second amendment.
That is why we have a 2nd Amendment which was to stop govt intrusion into the lives of the people. Well what do you want from the British anyway. Tell Muslim radicals that they can’t have guns either and see how far that goes. I’m sure there will be many more turban heads heading for this defenceless continent.
Absolutely.
i think thats the plot to “Logan’s Run”
Interesting… You have just listed the current set of decrees from the People’s Republic of China Communist Central Committee.
Just WOW!
Go ahead ban all guns, there several news reports from AUS that criminals have been manufacturing their own guns. No matter what government tries to ban, if there is demand someone will find a work around.
The ban will simply allow criminals to be more embolden since they, having no respect for the law, will be armed against defenseless citizens. I think they should go ahead with their utopian plan, when it all goes bad we can watch the people revolt on CNN while their commentators have a look of being perplexed as to how all this could happen.
The once prison colony will soon make the whole island a prison where the criminals rule over the innocent.
and this kind of BS is why this country has a proud tradition of shooting limeys.
I see no compelling reason to visit Britain, Australia, or New Zealand. Ever. See America First is my motto.
I’ve been to Canada & the bilingual crap annoyed me too much to ever return/J’ai fait une visite au Canada et le merde bilinguelle etait pour moi de trop a considerer a retourner.
Agree with whoever said that the judge’s head is there only to serve as a wig rest.
I am a Canadian and the bilingual crap annoys the hell out of me too. But not as much as our Firearms Act. Not as bad as Australia’s, but not what it should be. We have some hope that our Conservatives will roll back some of the restrictions, but I doubt I’ll ever see AR- 15 pattern rifles outside of a government-sanctioned range. I have almost no hope that we’ll ever get legal CCW.
Come visit Wyoming. 🙂 Lots of guns of every kind here, and you can carry any way you like. Nobody’s going to bother you about it, at least not out here in the NE. As with anywhere else…stay out of the big cities. We have only one, actually.
Actually, wife & I had a great time in Ottawa. Friendly people all around. Went there for a wedding at the Cartier. Guns not an issue this time. Ironically we got shook down by U.S. customs when we returned. I believe we were profiled when our passports were scanned.
Final night in Ottawa, “Je me souviens” tags were everywhere. Have a plastic bottle which says, “lemon juice/jus de citron”. We’ll go back someday.
At least the bilingual system in Canada has an understandable
basis. I live in Maine where about 1/4 still speak French
(although most speak english as well). Until about 50-60
years ago large portions of the state spoke nothing but French.
Today a far fewer number speak spanish but guess what
language everything is translated into 1st.
The wig is there to cover his lobotomy!
Again?
Utopia does not exist. If you choose to live or die believing it does, go ahead. Darwinism wil take care of you eventually.
Just don’t try to take anyone else with you through your erroneous, opinionated, laws.
One of the greatest things the founders did, was ban judges from wearing those goofy wigs.
If I give my opinion on this fellows fashion sense I’m afraid I might insult decent cross dressers everywhere.
Maybe it’s halloween in oz?
And while you are at it, ban drugs and alcohol. And ban crime! See how that all works out for you!
The thing about Oz is that even though many guns have been banned, don’t believe that many otherwise law abiding citizens don’t have those banned guns stashed away for a rainy day. I have friends and family there and know that many still have the ability to fight back.
Are you saying that your friends occasionally pour motor oil in their flower beds?
Whats the bet the kid was shot by a thug with an illegal weapon. Criminals don’t follow the law and the cops are afraid of them.
Such advocacy makes him unqualified to adjudicate, in my opinion.
Now I’m never going to Australia. Just think how many HEADS get cut off if you DON’T have an armed citizen…
Says a guy in a powdered wig.
He said he “absolutely’’ supported Justice David’s views on guns and believed there was “no need at all’’ for anyone in the metropolitan area to own a firearm. Including the government?
Stupid words from a stupid liberal totally disconnected from reality. Until the Australians get some guts and run the fools out of town….they can live with them.
I’m not criticizing you Patrick, but in MHO these grabbing progs are anything but stupid. Giving the impression of being stupid is a type of intellectual and agenda camo.
And they wonder why:
…their women are raped at more than three times the rate of American women are.
…their homes are broken into — while residents are home no less — more than twice as often as American homes are.
….their cars and other property are stolen much more often than American cars and other property are.
….their people are assaulted far more often — by armed attackers no less — than the American people are.
….their people people — especially their women — are kidnapped at over twice the rate of the American people.
It is, at least partly, because they are utterly unable to defend themselves on-the-spot when attacked by the vicious barbarians among them. It is also, partly, because self-defense just in principle has in fact been made de facto illegal, and it bears itself out exactly that way in their crooked courts.
Where did you get those stats? Not arguing, just want to verify.
What maroooooon. Too bad too many here feel just as backwards.
The State will take care of you OK??
It seems that Lewis McPherson who was gunned down on New Year’s Eve in 2012, was shot over an Ectasy drug argument. The assailant used a .22lr small auto pistol. It seems that the gunman attempting to murder Mr McPherson’s two best friends – James Lamont and Liam Trewartha – in the same incident. Tthe killer teenager was grossly intoxicated when he fired four shots at the trio.
I live in New Zealand, where maybe the Police sit on their hands a bit more, or the politicians are too disorganized to go after our weaponry, but we haven’t had the hard time the Aussies have had. We can still have semi auto rifles (only 5 rounds per mag, and no damned pistol grips! They make guns ten times more dangerous!). But we still have the ban on civilian self defense, and carrying a handgun is strictly a go to jail, no $200 deal. Australia has many more Muslims than we do, especially Lebanese, and these are causing a lot of problems for our kangaroo cousins. Gangs of Lebbos go around raping young white girls, because, well, they can. But Antipodean women typicaly have a more relaxed attitude than most to carnal encounters, so who knows? But beheading infidels is a new low for the scumbags. Islamicide. There’s a good word. Should be a bug spray. Keep practicing.
maybe the judge is just trying to get into the “receiving end” of some lebbo action of his own He looks like that kind of pervacious potentate.
he looks and dresses like a fairy,(,fairy=an effeminant male) you cant uninvent the gun, theyre here to stay legal or not so easy to fabricate a basic one and a more than basic just a bit more work. submachineguns are easier to fabricate than a semi auto as they require less parts to work well.the aussies are pretty good at improvising ,after all in ww2 when japan invasion was imminant, they converted a bunch of mark 3 and mark 4 .303, enfields bolt actions to full auto,, now thats a real task! not sure i could tackle that task. and their pansey govt begged the U.S, for some junk single shot pistols which were delivererd to stave off the enemy.which we delivererd. lluckily the invasion never came at least in force beyond some recon.
Like the US, Australia’s extensive coastline is a smuggler’s paradise. There are plenty of guns available in OZ. You just have to know who to talk to and be prepared to pay the price. And I’ll bet the black-market price for handguns is not all that different from worldwide retail prices. Guys like this can prattle on forever but, If the market is there, it will be served regardless of how many laws get passed.
those filipino gunsmiths love austrailia
Wow, can you imagine the field day one armed guy would have there?.. It’s a low fruit picking utopia for anyone with the notion to float south and stake their claim…
A whole country built just like California. It wouldn’t take more than 20 Texans armed with Ar-15s and Glocks to conquer the whole continent. The disarmed would be unable to stop them, and the few armed people would probably help them. So, I’ve got my Glock 21 and My Spike’s Tactical rifle. Who wants to help me rule Oz?
His wig looks like the cauliflower in my garden. Why is he wearing a bib?
To catch his drool.
“I can’t see why anyone in this city should own a gun. I think a gun with a licence [sic] is just as dangerous as . . . a gun without a licence.” — Australian Supreme Court Justice Michael David
Thus a person must meet with Justice David’s approval before they can do something. Today, Justice David forbids firearms. Tomorrow, Justice David forbids short-sleeve shirts, feminine napkins, private ownership of lands, or whatever else against which he decides to crusade. In a nutshell Justice David suffers from “contempt of humans”.
Why on Earth would the good people of Australia bow down to a “Justice” who expresses utter contempt for the good people around them?
“…Australia is entirely peopled with criminals, and criminals are used to having people not trust them…”
So I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you!
the vessel with the pestle…
A person should lose all credibility any time they use the phrase “in a perfect world” and then justify decisions based on it.
In a perfect world we wouldn’t need guns. Problem is we don’t live in a perfect world and never will–so I’m keeping mine. I suggest you keep yours too.
In a perfect world we wouldn’t need judges.
I care less what some nitwit says. Humans are violent creatures and nothing EVER is going to change that.
With the basic human right to protect ones self, the fact that guns will NEVER EVER be eliminated, his words are at the most, interesting for general discussion, but woefully meaningless. I’d bet my last dollar he has armed security and that renders him nothing more than a entitled hypocrite, like out national nanny here in the USA, M.B.
With all due respect, (which is none) they can blow it out their ass.
If the Australians allow themselves to become the poster child for civilian disarmament, they deserve whatever misery that choice brings them.
At the bottom line this is about stamping out Human Freedom and Individual Self-determination in order to control shrinking resources in light of the expanding Global Human Population. A small percentage of the Human population owns and controls the vast majority of necessary resources and intends to keep it that way. The rest of us are a means to their ends. As soon as we become too numerous they will deem us expendable and we will be treated as such. A disarmed populace cannot rebel or resist effectively, hence the relentless assault on our gun rights (which are really our right to ensure our freedom and individual self-determination).
The Australians do not understand this.
Guns are unnecessary only in a society of angels, which is also the only society where they are harmless. Me, I’ll take the tradeoff.
Dangja dangja today mates we are looking at the ever deadly white wig of facisism dangja danja mate! Like a stingray towards liberty.
“I think there should be a law that no-one is allowed to have a gun. I cannot see any logical reason for it at all.’’
Really? I can think of a number of reasons why someone would want to own a gun, first among then would be for shooting tyrants like you in the face.
I wonder if the Honorable Shittyhair is guarded at work by an armed agent of the state?
I don’t comment on how others countries are governed. I have a utopian view that they are governed as the people choose and if the people don’t like the government they have the where with all to make a change. Conversely I am not interested in a foreigner’s opinion of our laws and government.
Certainly, but other countries offer useful test cases on the mindset of late stage gun control.
The recently passed law in Massachusetts, which allows a police chief to go to a judge if he doesn’t want to issue a long gun permit to a person who has not been convicted of a felony or violent misdemeanor, but one he feels is unsuitable anyway, is a clear step towards Australian-style late stage gun control.
Calling Austraila “Oz” is totally appropriate. These people live in a fantasy land.
Note how closely he resembles a Lord Justice of the Crown Court. A picture is worth a thousand words.
His opinion also demonstrates quite clearly why the Colonies decided to “withdraw” from the Commonwealth.
What he is really saying is that you are of no value to him, therefore your life can be destroyed by any armed criminal, as far as he is concerned. He is an exemplar of the ruling elite. The most able go into business, to increase the family profits, the fit but dim go into the military (and yes, Australia has an air force and an army with weapons), and the utterly incompetent go into the law or into divine orders (future pedophiles). This judge embodies the reasons why some people are simply ill advised to breed. A pity we can’t just pat him on the head and send him on his way. Unfortunately his words influence the odfficial government in parliament.
Seeing as how the ‘weapon of choice’ for Jihadist’s is a knife of the style that Crocodile Dundee would carry, methinks they are attempting to ban the wrong ‘arm’.
What worries me is this misguided old fool is a high court judge. This senile old, out of touch duffer sits on high dispensing the law. And if anyone knows Australian custodial sentencing, people like him are handing down appallingly short sentences for very serious crimes. Maybe he should keep his opinions to himself and put more effort into fixing our stuffed up judicial system.
Also after the total pistol ban in the UK in 1997, gun crime has risen over 70%. Maybe he is just trying to drum up more work for himself.
