BANS AND MORE FAILED GUN CONTROL: The Democrat Party Platform on Guns

The Democrat Party has released their final party platform for 2020. In it, on pages 47 and 48, they spell out exactly what they have in mind for the little people in America. In short, they want to ban the manufacture and sale of America’s favorite firearms.

But just like a bad infomercial, that’s not all!  They want to establish national licensing schemes, ban internet sales of guns, gun parts, and ammo, ban the private sale of firearms and establish a national “red flag” scheme that will strip people of their fundamental Constitutional rights without a due process hearing.

Joe Biden doesn’t like guns, gun owners or gun rights. He made it clear that plans to make Beto “Hell yes, we’re coming for your AR-15” O’Rourke as his gun confiscation czar if he wins in November.

Joe doesn’t like AR-14s either.

That was even before he lost the ability to remember what he had for breakfast or string together a cogent paragraph without reading it from a telepromter.

Before he became obviously cognitively impaired, Joe famously advised Americans to buy a shotgun for home defense. Because no one needs an “assault weapon.”

If trouble comes your way, just fire two blasts.

Folks, the choice in November is clear. You can vote for people who love America, gun rights and freedom – or you can vote for Joe Biden and the people who loathe America, gun rights and freedom.

Here’s the Democrats’ final position on gun control.

Ending the Epidemic of Gun Violence

Gun violence is a public health crisis in the United States.

No. Gang violence is a public safety crisis.

Over 100,000 people are shot and nearly 40,000 people die annually from guns—devastating countless families, friends, and communities.

Two-thirds of those are suicides. Most of the wounded are injured in gang-related violence.

We can and will make gun violence a thing of the past.

Does Joe Biden have a magic wand?

Addressing the gun violence crisis requires supporting evidence-based programs that prevent gun deaths from occurring in the first place, including by making mental health care more accessible and supporting suicide reduction initiatives, funding interventions to reduce homicides and gun violence in neighborhoods, and strengthening protections against domestic violence.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t support suicide-prevention efforts. However, some people commit suicide because of health-related reasons. Someone healthy and who wishes to commit suicide will find a way to do it, with or without a gun. Unless Democrats ban water, ropes, drugs and stairs.

Democrats will also ensure the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have sufficient resources to study gun violence as a public health issue, including the ongoing health care, mental health, economic, and social costs that can affect survivors and their families for years.

The CDC has proven that it can’t “study” gun violence without injecting anti-gun politics into the process and making the final product junk science. That was what brought about the Dickey Amendment in the first place.

Democrats will enact universal background checks,

Otherwise known as a ban on private gun sales. Which, in essence, becomes universal gun registration.  And we know what follows gun registration.

Guns aren’t sold to end users online. But banning the sale of ammunition online brings control of all guns one step closer.

close dangerous loopholes that currently allow stalkers, abusive partners, and some individuals convicted of assault or battery to buy and possess firearms,

There are no such loopholes, but it sounds impressive to the clueless.

and adequately fund the federal background check system.

Last time I checked, it is funded just fine. It’s been able to handle the biggest gun-buying spree in history this year.

We will close the “Charleston loophole” and prevent individuals who have been convicted of hate crimes from possessing firearms.

Another “class” of people disarmed, for nothing more than having bigoted opinions.  What happened to the First Amendment? And who gets to decide what constitutes a “hate crime?” Especially in today’s society where many say that conservative speech is violence, while the left’s violence is free speech.

Democrats will ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons

Actual military rifles aren’t available to 99.9% of Americans.

Police patrol-style rifles and homeland defense rifles are America’s favorite rifle. Sort of like baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet.

and high capacity magazines.

You mean like those standard capacity magazines that America’s best-selling rifles and handguns commonly utilize?

When one of America’s little people has a whole mob of violent thugs trying to loot and burn their home while threatening to kill their pets, standard capacity magazines can come in awfully handy.

 

We will incentivize states to enact licensing requirements for owning firearms

Oh, like Illinois’ Firearm Owners ID cards? Do you mean the cards that the Illinois State Police currently need five months to process applications for would-be new gun owners?  The ones that keep Murder City USA’s violent crime rate down to dozens shot each week and plenty dead?

and extreme risk protection order laws that allow courts to temporarily remove guns from the possession of those who are a danger to themselves or others.

Oh, the famous ‘red flag’ laws that allow an angry ex, mother-in-law, co-worker, employee or neighbor to strip a person of their gun rights without due process? The kind where the flagged (former) gun owner will have to spend thousands of dollars to hire an attorney and contest the complaint in a formal hearing. And if they don’t fight it, they will lose their gun rights automatically for a year…or two…or more. Yeah, that sounds great!

Because conventional orders of protection are never used as bargaining chips in divorce and custody cases. Neither will red flag orders, of course.

We will pass legislation requiring that guns be safely stored in homes.

Lock up your safety. SCOTUS has already spoken on that in Heller and McDonald. But remember, it’s the Democrat party that interned Japanese-Americans during World War II, for whom civil rights take a back seat to the heavy hand of government. (In fairness, SCOTUS initially approved of the internment in the Komatsu case, under the threat of court packing by FDR.)

And Democrats believe that gun companies should be held responsible for their products, just like any other business, and will prioritize repealing the law that shields gun manufacturers from civil liability.

Otherwise known as standing aside so gun and ammunition manufacturers can be sued out of business thanks to frivolous lawsuits.
