Our friends at the Department of Justice just sent us this heads-up re: the little federal agency that could (and now, in fact, will): the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive. Question: why the hell don’t the feds call it the BATFE?

In an effort to ensure consistency within the Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) community, the ATF initiated the ruling released today which provides ATF headquarters oversight of all administrative actions prior to notices being sent to the licensee. This ruling establishes the final approval authority for denial of applications for licenses, suspension or revocation of licenses, or imposition of civil fines.
