Bill takes time out from the normal ass-kissing tribute dinner speech to lavish praise on Mayor Bloomberg for trying to make it impossible for over one million Americans to purchase firearms. Needless to say, the NRA’s the bogey man of the night. Question: why do politicians perpetuate the idea that the NRA is somehow independent of the political process? Guys: they ARE the political process. As soon as gun control advocates can organize their supporters as effectively as the National Rifle Association, they’ll have just as much power. Meanwhile, note: the extremely well-armed members of the NRA aren’t threatening politicians with guns. They’re threatening them with votes. Isn’t that exactly as it should be?
Southern roots? Um…no. On the other hand, he's living up (down?) to his Progressive ideology.
