Name someone, … anyone … , who appears to love the sound of his own voice more than Bill Mahr. Seriously, I dare you.
I did not watch the video, and normally I would never comment without watching a subject video or reading a subject article. But I got all the info I needed from the static image and I just didn’t want to waste 6:10 of my life, I could never get back.
Christians have been killing people for thousands of years, so I don’t see why he’s trying to make it an issue.
haha! Good one, Ralph. Errmmm… Joe?!
JOE says that “Christians have been killing people for thousands of years, so I don’t see why he’s trying to make it an issue.”
Which is why the UBL crowd still calls us “crusaders.” Which is why they won’t let the Holy Cross basketball team play any of its away games in Abu Dhabi.
I don’t understand this at all. Bill Maher’s getting his panties in a bunch about killing Bin Laden? Meanwhile, he has nothing to say about Jose Guerena. Hey, Billy, baby — KMA.
Cops are the Wardens of the Holy God-Empire, infallible in their judgment and wisdom. Why would Maher ever question them?
Bill Maher’s I’m sure has nothing against killing Bin Laden, his beef is more with religion, and Christian specifically. So any time he thinks he can get a dig in he spills his bile. And like most atheists, they tend to pick and choose the bible verses they use and generally take them out of context and without understanding of the original language. As a Christian who served in the US Army infantry, I was often asked how I could be in such a field and still be a Christian. I would point to two passages.
First, Matt 5:9 ““Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”
The word peacemaker is a verb. You make peace. (Note it doesn’t say peacekeeper.) So if I see a woman getting raped and I pick up a ball bat or pistol and prevent her assailant from harming her, I am a peacemaker. So when our guys killed OBL they were being peacemakers.
Second, Romans 13:3-4 “For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil.”
Again governments purpose is to be a minister of God to bring wrath on evil doers. That they did again in OBL’s case. Enough of my sermonizing.
“they tend to pick and choose the bible verses they use and generally take them out of context and without understanding of the original language. ”
Can be applied to anyone talking about a religion not his own.
Okay Blammo, here goes. I’m attempting to name someone who loves the sound of his own voice more than Bill does.
Bryant Gumble.
Did I get close?
And no, I didn’t watch the video, either. I also didn’t want to waste precious moments of my life watching a Bill Mahr video.
Chuck Schumer. Roy and Blammo, you’ve been Trumped. Oops, that’s two.
Bin Laden got free lead courtesy of Uncle Sam. What could be more charitable than that?
Obama ordering a hit squad to take out Bin Laden was a dark day in American history. That’s what third-world shithole countries do and inner city gangsters. Everyone knows we’ve done this before with the CIA, but it should not have been done so openly with such widespread support. This kind of thug-behaviour should be covered up and hidden behind layers of plausibile deniability.
Why, because it’s wrong. Terrorists like any other criminals should be arrested and tried. That’s what advanced civilized societies do. The US is going backwards.
I agree with most of what you are saying, MikeB. I do, however, have to add that some people need to be removed because their not being removed is far worse then the bad press
What amazes me is that this is an issue at all when we’ve already adopted preemptive everything, let alone what’s going on with supposed surgical strikes, whether manned or drone. National sovereignty would not exist without recognizing it as a personal precept. Our own sovereignty, personal and national, is in jeopardy due to our repeated and increasing disregard for that of others.
Sometimes attempted capture-but-don’t-kill operations go wrong, and people get killed. Even if the mission was “kill bin Laden”, it makes sense, as he was a strategic military figure in a time of war. But it makes at least as much sense to think that the SEAL team was assigned to capture him if they reasonably could, and it turned out they couldn’t. Getting in there at all, safely, without bin Laden twigging to it and running off, was difficult. Getting an uncooperative prisoner out again alive (after losing a helicopter) would certainly not have been without its special dangers.
