America’s most prominent gun control activist—Republican New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg—owns Bloomberg Media. It’s impossible to know how Hizzoner’s unrelenting antagonism towards civilian gun ownership affects his media empire’s coverage. Does Bloomberg (the man) tell Bloomberg (his employees) to spin, surpress or distort their gun coverage? Is there institutional racism—I mean anti-gun bias? Merkel Gunning for Germany as Luxury Rifles Draw Russians is another one of those Bloomberg business features where it’s impossible to know if Mayor Mike’s minions are laughing, sneering, cheering or jeering at the the firearms industry. For example  . . .

Extravagance is a common theme running through the high-end clientele of German gun manufacturers. Some aristocrats want their castle engraved on their rifle, [Merkel Marketing Director Oliver] Schmider said, adding that gold inlay is increasingly in demand. One U.S. customer had an Indian chief on one side, a cowboy on the other and a bald eagle on the bottom, he said.

Blaser, whose sales have boomed in Germany in recent years, has followed through on a customer request to engrave a pair of bull testicles on a rifle. Other off-piste initiatives to boost the brand have included a cooperation with Jaguar Land Rover Plc, for which Blaser designed a special edition of the rugged Defender vehicle that’s limited to 60 units.

Which TTAG covered, ‘natch. Click here for that great moment in British history. And speaking of history, one wonders if Bloomberg’s Jewish ancestry made it necessary for his media mavens to focus on  the German gun industry’s history of doing business with the Nazis.

Sauer, based in Isny in southern Germany, exports almost 70 percent of its production, and sale rose 8 percent last year. Founded in 1751, the company has provided rifles to monarchs including Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm II. Nazi Reichsmarschall and Reich Master Hunter Hermann Goering also favored Sauer guns, which featured inlaid swastikas during the Third Reich.

Merkel has also attracted a varied following. The company has provided rifles or components to King Juan Carlos of Spain, former Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev and Dwight Eisenhower when he was military governor of the U.S. Occupation Zone of Germany in 1945. Goering also went deer-stalking with a Merkel.

I guess that means that German guns are well-made and profitable but tainted by evil. Just like American guns. According to you-know-who.

  1. Bloomberg is no more a Republican than I am the Queen of France. He swapped from a Democrat to Republican in 2001 because he knew there was no way he could get elected after Giuliani’s run. The Democrat party appointed a no-name candidate to run against him and dumped all their money into Bloomberg’s election. They essentially inserted a Trojan Horse into the office.

Pics or it didn’t happen. 🙂

  3. Whatever on Bloomberg-that’s like yelling at water for being wet.

The stock on that rifle is beautiful, however. So I’ll just sit a while and stare at it.

    • “If I were a rich man…” There is nothing quite like a AAA Turkish walnut select stock on a Blaser rifle, but $25k for the Lux is WAY outta my range. Pardon my drool.

  4. Methinks hizzoner’s ego is just a bit overinflated. I’ll take Mayor Blameburg seriously when New York City has clean streets.

  5. Egotistical elites, unconcerned with the common man’s daily experiences hopes and fears, have ruled over the sheeple for thousands of years and continue to do so today. The elites titles and relations with the masses have changed a bit on the outside, and yet that is only to create the misconception of progress and democracy in a fiat republic so to keep the peasants from revolting. Those who do not see and feel the weight of their chains are the most enslaved of all. The more things change the more they stay the same.

  6. So your irrational hatred of German guns is okay, but Bloomberg’s isn’t? Interesting.

  7. Show me a .30cal., five-shot group at 100m, fired from a cold barrel off a bipod that prints under an inch, and you’ll have my attention.
