“It’s time for us to make a choice. Do we want to live in a free country, a country where decent hard-working men and women can live their lives in whatever way they see fit, sipping from a can of whatever we fancy, firing whichever shotgun we prefer at whichever targets we select? Or would we rather live in a totalitarian dystopia where we exist only to work and obey, and not get fat or shoot things or smoke or do drugs or anything fun at all?” – Ben Pobjie, Cover your Pepsi, stash your shotgun: The nannies are coming [via abc.net.au]
The problem is that, every time you use that phrase, a large block of the population sits up and asks “yeah, but what about me?”
Bingo!
The problem is that, every time you use that phrase, a large block of the population sits up and asks “yeah, but what about me?”
Except its asked in some other language than English. Or an ebonical dialect based loosely on English.
Which implies it is an issue of race or national origin, which it is not (or, at least not as your post would seem to suggest). 40% of all those living on entitlements are white, and their accent is more likely the Bronx or Southern.
Entitlement is a mindset–a learned worldview–that knows to racial or language barrier.
Agree with your last statement, but “whites” represent 77.35% of the population (2014), yet only constitute 40% (your figure) of entitlement receivers…
A little Social Darwinism goes along way. We just need to let it happen.
Seems like a very poor job of attempted trolling. The Left simply isn’t very good at this sort of thing, in part because they can’t understand the Right well enough to mimic them with the slightly discordant language necessary to pull it off.
I’d have to agree. Seemed more like a piece for “The Onion” than a true expression of opinion.
“And yet our current Government would actually rather you be eaten by pigs than allow you to experience the sweet taste of freedom. Or the sweet taste of Fanta, for that matter.”
Government only cares about extracting the most money over the longest period of your life while denying lawful self defense and individual liberty.
It’s not about sugary drinks
Yup. At core we’re all cattle to rancher government.
Maximize profit, minimize loss. That’s all it’s about.
Concepts like liberty, happiness, individuality, discrimination, danger are all artificial constructs used to manipulate and guide the herd like panels of fencing.
“It’s time for us to make a choice.”
Ya think?
Titanic’s resting on bottom b1t<h, but. . . ~ ok.
Australia is not “at the crossroads”, it’s at the bottom of the off-ramp on to the service road with no on-ramp for another 15 miles. Do a U-ee in the vacant field beside the highway and drive against traffic and back up the exit if you have to.
Best reply in weeks! Bravo, sir!
Is he wearing lipstick?
No, it’s wearing him.
Try not to look too close.
Sweet mother of God. This is one of the most hilarious little articles ever listed.
This was the icing on top right here:
But when I do it, they see I’m white and call me racist. Then they learn I’m Muslim and call me a terrorist. Just wait until they learn I CC every day; they’ll collapse frothing at the mouth.
Australia seems to be doing very fine without a high homicide rate.
Former PM John Howard had saved a lot of peoples lives and thanks to his laws Australia has prospered and is considered one of the best, safest, wealthiest nations in the world.
Most Australian support the NFA-96 law.
They’ve still had no mass killings to this very day.
Still false, no matter how many times you repeat your lie.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_massacres_in_Australia
Am sure the same could be said for you using a debunked Wikipedia article.
Australia has had no mass shootings since 1996.
http://www.vox.com/2015/8/27/9212725/australia-buyback
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/05/world/australia/australia-gun-ban-shooting.html?_r=0
Australia is now considered one of the best safest countries in the world with great education, healthcare, economy and personal freedoms.
A good chunk of those incidents on there are domestic disputes and not actually mass killings.
Again you use Wikipedia which is known to be very biased.
Try again…
Then move there so we don’t have to listen to your whiney crap anymore.
And please feel free to play with the wildlife when you do. Heard they are just as harmless as the criminals.
And you quote the new York times….. which is also slightly biased.
Keep trying maybe someday you will have a good response
It’s not about Wikipedia, it’s about the linkable sources under the “references” section of the page.
Yes, they in fact have… but that is not what you said in your first attempt at deception. You said, “They’ve still had no mass killings to this very day.” 12 mass killings since 1996 for a country with 15 times less the population of the US. Australian equivalent of 180 mass killings in the US over 20 years.
Murder and Suicide were already falling since the late 1980’s, before the ban, and continued to fall at the same rate as before the ban (murder rate actually went up after the ban for several years). The ban had very little to no known affect on the overall trend. The graph is in the NYT article you referenced. Although I don’t expect you to actually read past the title of your chosen propaganda.
What is “one of the best’? And all this “one of the best” talk is only related to the gun confiscation of 1996? Also, being that the US is in the top 20 of everything you mentioned, does that mean Australia should have the same firearms laws as the US?
So deaths from supposed “domestic disputes” only count when you’re claiming “hundreds of mass shootings in the US everyday”?
And Vox and the New York Times are pillars of journalistic integrity! Next you’ll link to something on CNN.
We keep telling you to do the same, but every time you get called on your BS propaganda, you simply don’t respond. Why is that?
Look, Dingleberry, go to google (www.google.com), enter oppressed and see what comes up. Then enter opressed. You’ll see that you’ve been misspelling the word from the get-go. If you’re going to speak please try to do it intelligently (I know it’s difficult for you).
And thank your for removing the word “Patriot” from your pen name.
@NYC2AZ, please be kind to AmericanAgainstGunSuppressors . He needs our sympathy and support. He also needs a job and a non-inflatable woman, but that’s not our problem.
Writing nonsense is as much a part of SuppressingAmericanGun’s therapy as modeling clay, coloring books and Adderall. He buys the first two at a pharmacy.
In short, it’s not his fault that he has to answer “Yes” to Question 11.f. on Form 4473. We should be more understanding of his disability.
Yes please be kind to someone who has kicked your butts in numerous times on this website.
Using ad-homien attacks will get you nowhere and proves your losing the debate.
Like I’ve said many times before, Australia has suffered no mass killings after the PA tragedy.
I wish I could move and enjoy Australia, While you can stay in the USA and enjoy your daily 24/7 mass shootings.
Because guns are worth more than helping your own friends and loved ones that have to suffer for your selfish “right”.
Citation needed.
There is a difference between insults and ad hominem attacks. Here’s a quick video on how to tell the difference. See, you are in fact a lying fukcin’ moron (that’s an insult).
More of your lies. See above.
We also wish this. See! We can agree!
Citation still needed.
Aaaaaaand you still won’t get it.
@Ralph It’s the first day I’ve had completely off in a long time. Arguing is actually therapeutic for me. Maybe it’s the only NYC part left in me. 😀
@AmericanAgainstPositveFreedom
The prime minister of Australia in 96 was vehemently anti-gun and simply enforced his dream upon the people of Australia. He took freedom from them and empowered the state over their lives. We typically believe the people should have freedom, not the government.

Australia and Europe, for that matter. will be under Sharia Law within two decades. Muslims are outbreeding everyone else by 4 times. I can’t wait to see all those hardcore feminists get fitted with their burkas and accompanied by a male relative whenever they leave the harem.
And sharia courts hand out punishment based on 14th century terms.
It’s called “satire.”
Look it up.
Didn’t lose anything. Just pointing out if it’s so great in Australia, you should move there.
You are the one who loses ever debate before it starts.
You want to know why?
Because people are waking up and realizing the anti gun left has no one’s interests in mind but the elitists that helped them get in office.
That living off the government is not living at all.
I have a serious question for you patriot.
If someone breaks into your home and threatens your family, what are you going to do? Dial 911 and hope the police get there in time? Or take matters into your own hands and stop the threat?
I’m thinking he’d just continue to hide in his mommy’s basement.
I wrote detailed reply then lost email after I hit send. So briefly –
Have never met an actual shooter who likes our current laws here in Australia.
Media only runs anti / look at the idiots “stories”.
Over a million shooters here but less than 20% in SSAA which is our version of NRA
Two attempted mass killing in the last week. One by petrol/ fire in a bank with 20 including attacker injured and one I have mentioned earlier in the week by knife
Have never noticed much difference between rural Australia and rural USA but city voters dominate politics here
Please keep your troll we have enough here already
Virtual high five to RCC. Laughed so hard I damn near spit coffee everywhere. Thanks for the laugh!
Thanks Chris
Back in USA next year but not Texas at this time. Friends from army retired near Fort Hood and trying to get back there sometime.
As mentioned above city areas dominate voting here as electoral boundaries are by number of voters.
In Melbourne a district can be under 2 square kilometres. Where in my state one district is larger than Texas and two others almost as big. Not many people but it is where the farms, mines and forests are so we have jobs and pay a lot of tax it seems just to support city areas
No electoral college to balance things
