If one of the guns used in the shooting originated with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Fast and Furious gun smuggling operation, it will ratchet-up the heat on all the presidents’ men to the point of political immolation. And force the mainstream media to finally report on the F&F-related deaths south of the border, recently revealed by Univision. If not, not. Either, the border issue just got a lot hotter.
Sad. Any word on whether they were armed with real ammo, or were they trying to fight drug smugglers with bean bag rounds?

Wow truly a sad day. My thoughts and prayers ate with the families of the officers.
Also I am proud of Univision for their reporting into F&F. They have been very critical over this administrations actions. Selfish reasons aside, they have actually been reporting, instead of supporting through omission.
Sad and tragic. It appears in this case the guns used to attack and kill these Agents weren’t found, so no link to F & F will be determined.
My sympathies to the Family of the dead Agent, those of the injured Agent and to the surviving Agent dealing with the trauma of the loss of his partner.

The agents were on horseback, approximately 8 miles EAST of Bisbee, AZ, whereas the Naco BP Station, now the Brian Terry BP Station is in Naco, AZ, which is just outside of Bisbee, to the WEST.
The focus of your outrage puzzles me. 3 BP agents attacked, 1 dead, 1 wounded and suspects on the loose. The headline is off on the location? So what?
If you lived here in Sierra Vista, AZ, where I live, and know firsthand, as I do, how incredibly pathetic our “secure” border is, then perhaps you might understand the very big difference between that headline and what actually occurred.
So your point is that all of this went down within 25 miles of you. That wasn’t clear in your first post.
If the agents staged out of the Naco station, and there isn’t a different station nearer the incident, how is the headline misleading?
Meanwhile the real news story is the recent polls showing Dear Leader ahead by a few points.

Both candidates fail. Neither have much of a plan regarding what to do about the border situation. Obama: business as usual. Mitt: self-deportation, aka business as usual (unless he flippity flops on that suddenly, which is far from unlikely).
Anybody else feel like we should be moving US troops from Afghanistan to the southwest to fight the narcos?

What “we the people” want doesn’t matter. What matters is winning elections. And actually securing the border might alienate one or two percent of the population who are of Mexican descent. If you believe the mainstream media when they say that the polls show this to be a close race for president, neither side wants to risk losing 1% of the votes.
There has never been a time in US history when the Mexican border has been “secure.” And working for the BP in that area has always been a lonely and dangerous job, where individual officers ride off into the desert alone and without any real possibility of backup. Violence along the border has existed and will continue to exist with or without F&F. Just like hoods in the US, the mexican cartels have no difficulty illegally obtaining weapons; what makes anyone think that arms control along the border will have any effect on crime?–it has no effect on crime in the rest of the country.
2.4 million people die in the US every year, about 6575 per day. What makes this one special? Oh thats right, law enforcement are better people than everyone else…
