“Impatience and pressure for a decision have been building among residents and business owners, as well as police officers, who have been working 12-hour shifts with all leave time canceled since Saturday, said Jeff Roorda, business manager for the City of St. Louis Police Officer’s Association.” Yes, well, now that St. Louis County prosecuting attorney Bob McCullough’s office has let it be known that they’ll be announcing the grand jury’s decision tonight at 8:00 p.m. central, those police officers – along with the National Guard – will likely be putting in a lot of hours. Governor Jay Nixon, flanked by various local officials, is about to make yet another obligatory plea for peace. Many Ferguson businesses have boarded up and are closed up tight. Police and Guardsmen are being deployed all around the city. Hatches have been battened and area traffic has been surprisingly light for a Monday evening. Stay tuned.
Stay frosty my friends!
Oakland CA will see it’s rioting, errr I mean protests. I am sure OPD is pulling in everyone, and getting their gear ready to go.
My job takes me to Oakland at least twice a day. Fortunately I work school schedules and I’m off this week.
My company has me in Oakland Mon-Fri on a project. I packed extra heavy these last couple weeks if you know what I mean…
Announcement in 5 minutes, last chance to bet me 500 rounds of .22 LR that no one will die.
NO INDICTMENT

The time to buy a shotgun and shells has come and gone. If you’re already prepared, good on you.
If not, I hope nobody dies because of your stupidity.
No reason to not have a scatter gun and some shells at hand other than stupidity… They’re cheaper than most people’s cell phone bill.
I don’t actually expect Ferguson or any other place to burn. Protests will get loud and ugly, sure, but I’m not expecting Armageddon. If I’m wrong, then all I can say is, “in case of fire, bring hamburgers and marshmallows.”
Everybody loves a cookout.
If things go bad (and I’m in Phoenix so they would have to go biblically bad for me to care) I’ll be the one bringing the fire, if you catch me.
Could be a case of all-hat-no-cattle saber-rattling, but there are multiple scanner reports of black males flashing firearms at people in Ferguson.
If you don’t hire violent people to agitate and incite to riot, how can you impose martial law? It’s tyrannical government 101 folks…. if your citizens refuse to give you an excuse to go totalitarian on them, create one.
So if there are riots but America doesn’t immediately descend into a dystopian nightmare of Orwellian proportions and the Guard goes home when the looters do, will you consider that maybe this shit just happens?
Or will you bring this canard up the next time, and the next time, always thinking that someone must be masterminding everything?
Remember the LA Riots? Were they controlled by the government too?
Yeah Yeah Yeah. See it at 9pm EST.
Also known as riot o’clock.
Could they have picked a worse time for the announcement…
What’s your point? Is there a better time?
Thanksgiving day 10 am?
Super Sunday?
It would have been bad at any time but at night, when it’s dark? It was, in my opinion, an intentional prompt for the looting and vandalism. On a normal day, most break-ins happen under the cover of darkness! They wanted the violence, no other explanation for the timing and wording Robert McCulloch chose.
Friday afternoon, maybe. That would’ve been just like happy hour for all the looters.
I was thinking they might just do it as a surprise — no TV cameras, no time for protestors/looters to gather and work themselves into a frenzy, just a laconic brief from the state prosecutor’s office released to public view on a Tuesday afternoon.
But a cold Monday night works too, I guess.
On like Donkey Kong!
Well, it is going to be 40Fgoing down to 27F St. Louis tonight. Might put somewhat of a damper on things.
Should have done it last week when the temps were in the teens. Hard to get excitable when all you want is to go home where it’s warm.
Also when it’s windchill zero, it’s awful easy to stop a riot with a firehose and a misting nozzle. Nobody wants any part of that.
Three wishes:
1. That justice is served according to the facts of the case.
2. That the protests or celebrations, if there are any, remain peaceful.
3. That any and all attempts at looting and violence are ended instantly by gunfire from armed citizens exercising their right to self-defense.
I give a 33% chance of a politically motivated manslaughter charge and double that if they have the civilian equivalent of the military charge of an act of Mayhem.
These are my sentiments.

That is all.
On the bright side, the black Friday mobs will prevent the “protesters” from looting the stores that will have good deals.
I believe if they protesters would take a lesson from the Vietnamese and the Chinese; (Among others) they would be successful at having a higher percentage of the minority ethnic population with advanced degrees and being entrepreneurs than even the white population.
But that would mean giving up a privileged victim status; with all the goodies and bennies that go with that.
I have a personal anecdote of this. I was friends for many years with a woman that immigrated from Vietnam with her family in the mid seventies. Herself as a young girl, her three siblings and her mother and father.
Her father did construction until he got his contractor license and her mother owned a Vietnamese food deli.
Now she has a Bachelors in Physical therapy and her siblings have two masters and another bachelors. All are living the upper class American dream. Yep; with hard work and keeping the nose to the grind stone, anyone can be successful in America
here we go……

Hopefully fergy don’t burn, they are nice tractors.
I’m no legal scholar but isn’t it true that the grand jury reached a decision, not a verdict as stated in this post’s title?
