TTAG recently reported that the ATF’s on-again, off-again, on-again, off-again federal long gun registry was on-again. Well it’s off-again. Yesterday, by a margin of 177-149, the U.S. House of Represetnatives passed H.R. 1. Amendment No.566, sponsored by Republican Representatives Dan Boren of Oklahoma and Denny Rehberg of Montana, targeted the registry. According to gop.gov, “The amendment would prohibit funds made available by this Act to be used to require a person licensed under section 923 of title 18, United States Code, to report information to the Department of Justice regarding the sale of multiple rifles or shotguns to the same person.” In other words, Congress defunded the ATF registry. If the Amendment survives the Senate, the battle will be won. The war continues . . .
That’s great news!
This is going to be the biggest budget battle since my first marriage.
