Govorite bŭlgarski? Should gun guru Larry Vickers decide to share some trigger time with you on the most excellent MG1M, it might be worth learning a bit of Bulgarian. I’m thinking imate li dostatŭchno boepripasi? (do you have enough ammunition?) and stremim che kartechnitsa tam molya (aim that machine gun over there please). Bulgarian-born Texan-proud professional shooter Diana Hufstedler might correct my grammar, but when it comes to guns, we speak the same language. As they say, Всяка жаба да си знае гьола (every frog must know his pond).

  1. Great video. My favorite part of that gun now is probably the cover over the ejection port. More specifically the small rectangular piece that keeps the cover from flapping uncontrollably. Genius.

Farago, who knew you were such a language savant?

  2. My makarov is a circle 10 bulgarian. Couldn’t be happier with it. Outstanding bit of kit. If you use the heavier 115 grain hollowpoint loads in it, it will, like a j frame with heavy loads, let you know.

I’ve used everything from surplus commie ammo to buffalo bores in it. Not 1 problem.

I haven’t priced any lately, but I think feeding that mg would be cheaper in the x54r round. The nato x51 runs a bit higher.

  3. Would *love* to have one of these in my safe, but would love it even more if someone else was paying for the ammo. Though a modified semi-auto version of this in 5.56X45 that accepts STANAG magazines (e.g. Surefire 60/100 rounders, Magpul D60s) would be awesome too. And cheaper, lighter and more reliable than the semi-auto M249 that FN is selling.

  4. Why would you want non-disintegrating links? Wouldn’t that kinda be an issue if you wanted to move around? Educate me…

  5. Doc?

You use non-disintegrating for easier reloading. Most of the belts made breakup into 10 or 25 round SECTIONS which are far easier to reload than hundreds of individual links. In emergency? You may not get time to pick up links, clean and reload or get new belt.

US throw out spent links. I prefer reuse them. Why not? Nothing wrong just clean, blow off dirt dust sand, etc.

  6. Did you know it is legal to won brand new full auto weapons in Bulgaria of course with the proper paperwork. It is illegal in the U.S. to buy a brand new full auto for most people.

  7. I want a semi PKM kit. I don’t even need to shoot it really, just play with it.

One of the meanest GPMGs ever made.
