Why would CBS News give so much airtime to a fringe group of extremists bent on denying Americans their natural, civil and Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms? Because guns! To be fair, props to the “Tiffany Network” for giving Gun Owners of America jefe Larry Pratt five seconds of air time in a 1:15 infomercial for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America and, laterally, its parent company Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Could this news package (and related Pratt-less online gun control story) be any more profoundly biased in favor of civilian disarmament? Perhaps someone should . . .

take Manhattan-raised CBS News president David Rhodes back to his father’s native Texas, avoiding his alma mater (Rice University: A Hotbed Of Wild-Eyed Liberalism That Undermines Family Values) and reacquaint Rhodes with honest-to-God (literally) gun clingers. Maybe his younger brother Ben, President Obama’s deputy national security adviser for strategic communications, should tag along. I’ll buy the beer! Yes, David. Beer.

  1. They only used Pratt to provide a Face of the Opposition. Really, snipping that one comment in that context just passed him off as a stubborn, old mean man who doesn’t care that kids are dying. The last time I saw Pratt in an honest debate (I forget where) I was impressed at how calmly he could provide rational thinking to an otherwise screaming argument.

    • My favorite bit was the clip they used while introducing him showcased his finger-gunslinging. That, followed by the really awfully ineffectual soundpiece of his just showcases the bit’s bias.

Also: “The NRA has had 30 years”? The NRA’s been around for a lot longer than that, Ms. Watts. Credit where credit is due, I think.

  2. Drop him off in Texas? Better to drop him off in a NY slum with no phone and no gun. He’ll see the need for a gun right quick.

  3. Our day will come.THEN God help them. Our people need to lay low right now. There is an underground movement to including Democratic Senators and Congressman. Hold on!

  4. I don’t think people respect Bloomberg’s personality. He’s rich, but even among his own kind, the corporates, he’s long been known as a fairly anti-women anti-democratic bully. Shannon? Nobody even knows who she is other than TTAG readers. When she’s on TV people get up to refill the Doritos bowl. I live in the thick of liberal affluent east-coast suburbia: My neighbors are quietly acquiring something to defend their homes as the rate of burglaries continues to rise, burglaries (and some muggings) approximately all conducted by people from outside the county, i.e. ‘commuters’ from the city. We could tolerate some crime near our offices and hospitals in the city. When that crime increasingly follows us home to our family’s abode and neighborhoods, the mindset changes. People do not like to talk about it, but it has definitely changed. To me this implies that even within the Democrat party the pressure for gun restrictions is fizzling. They may not like MSR’s, but they increasingly want the right to carry a pistol.

  5. In Fulton Co.PA not far from the I-81 shooting, a man followed a man and woman home. He got out of his truck and walked towards the couple with a gun. When the man pulled out his own gun the bully ran to his truck and took off. Police caught him. This happened 2 days ago. Your right

  6. Daily school shootings? Their own “reports” show her to be a liar and mugging for the camera’s.

  7. 80 seconds for them and 5 seconds for us is the Left’s idea of an “open discussion” when they are feeling extra charitable.

  8. When Mom’s Demand Action start demanding ‘action’ on our failing inner city schools, I will start to give them a modicum of respect.
