It was one of the most jaw-droppingly idiotic things I had ever seen. In the middle of the rush for gun control legislation following the Newtown shooting, Joe Biden did an interview in which he advised the U.S. population that it was perfectly OK to blindly fire a shotgun through their front door if a stranger knocked on it, and to crack off a shot in the air if they felt threatened. One man in Washington foolishly followed the Veep’s advice, discharging his shotgun recklessly into the night sky, and was promptly charged with a crime. As a defense, he had planned to claim that Joe Biden told him to do it during trial. Now it seems like that won’t be necessary . . .

A prosecutor says he’ll dismiss a firearms charge against a man who contends he was following the advice of Vice President Joe Biden when he fired a shotgun in the air to chase off intruders….
Barton will instead face a charge of obstructing a police officer, Clark County Prosecutor Tony Golik said Tuesday.
Barton, 53, acknowledges firing the gun in July 2013 to chase away three men who appeared to be breaking into his vehicles in Vancouver.
He planned the so-called “Biden defense,” based on a statement the vice president made in February 2013 that people don’t need automatic weapons because shooting a shotgun in the air would scare off intruders.
Golik doubts a jury would be persuaded beyond a reasonable doubt that Barton violated the law.
Honestly, I’m a little disappointed. I was looking forward to watching the trial and seeing how the “Biden Defense” held up in court. On the other hand, it’s good to see a district attorney decline to prosecute a legitimate defensive gun use — even if it might not have been conducted in the safest manner.

If you think about it, what Joe Biden said was actually very good advise because his advise was to his wife who would never face any charges for anything if Mrs. Biden fired a shotgun into the air on her balcony. Now if you or I fire a shotgun into the air on our balcony, we will face charges.
That is simply one of the perks of being a member of the ruling class: the ruling class has a lot more “leeway” and “discretion” in the law. The working class … not so much.

When do upland game hunters use buckshot?
Even buckshot is not going to have more energy than a medium sized hailstone coming down. Because shotgun pellets are not spin-stabilized, they fall downwards at basically terminal velocity after being fired, even at angles that aren’t near vertical.

Get robbed and defend yourself and your property in a manor specifically detailed and prescribed the be the Vice President of the United states, Obstructing a Police Officer.

Vancouver is right across the river from Portland Oregon, a rabidly Progressive city. This is a place I know well. With the potential for a jury containing a number of loyal Progressives, the defense just has to point out that Joe Biden told the defendant to do it, and there would be a guaranteed acquittal.
Using a firearm for nonlethal crime deterrence? An example of wise proportionality, and they call that a crime? This country is upside down on common sense. So are the police. I’m surprised they didn’t charge him violating noise ordinances.
