Another day, another crime-infested urban area, another gun buyback. “Organized by the city, the CPD’s Chicago Alternative Policing Strategy and several faith- and community-based non-violence groups, the Gun Turn-In event will be held simultaneously at 23 churches between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m,” huffingtonpost.com reports. “Firearms can be turned in for a $100 MasterCard gift card, and replica and BB-guns will be accepted in exchange for a $10 gift card.” Just in case you thought the initiative was anti-crime not anti-gun, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy puts the program into perspective: “There’s way too many guns in the state of Illinois.” Alternatively, not enough. Anyway, Windy City entrepreneurs looking for a tidy profit might want to snap-up a couple of hundred $2.95 Super Cap Guns from Amazon. If the gun grabbers balk, remind them that no questions asked means no questions asked.

  1. Every time I hear about one of these gun “buy-back” programs, I recall the scene in “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” when the bandit chief is trying to convince Humphrey Bogart that he should give up his gun, saying Bogie doesn’t need “that old iron”, and that he has the “wrong idea”. The bandit says “We don’t want to steal your guns, we will pay good money for them”.

Then, after the bandits have the guns, how long would Bogie and friends keep that money, or their lives?

Do you have to be a Chicago resident? I mean, “no questions asked” and all…. I’m tempted to order a metric ton of BB guns so that I’ll make enough money to pay for gas to Chicago and back as well as pick up a new PS90.

  3. I dunno, I wouldn’t risk it with the cap guns…With how much integrity, honesty, and honor do you think these gun-grabbing scumbags will treat the phrase “no questions asked” when they can’t even comprehend and honor the simple phrase “shall not be infringed?”

The only time they’ll stick to “no questions asked” is when it applies to their monstrously corrupt politics.

    • There is no such thing as integrity, honor, or honesty in Chicago politics. Biggest bunch of elected criminals anywhere.

  4. I’ve got some really crap guns that are worth diddly, and I’d LOVE to trade them in for $100 gift cards, but they never seem to run these programs in my neck of the woods, or if they do, it is so poorly promoted that I hear about it 4 days after it’s over. Off the top of my head, I should be able to get $320 based on the Chicago prices quoted above and that would get me pretty close to a compact 9mm or an AR15 lower with some extras, or most of a Walmart bolt action rifle in .308. Any of you guys hear of a buyback in the north Philly to Scranton area, give me a heads up.

      • They used to have them from time to time near Philadelphia. Gun people liked them. You can sell bunch of rust hunk guns which are easy to come by for well over what they are worth, and then put the money toward a new functional gun! They of course caught on quickly.

  5. last gun buyback they had here in california they gave 100 dollars cash for each gun. i took a busted .22 someone gave me and a m44 i bought at a gun show for 40 bucks and with the 200 dollars i bought a russian sks. great rifle that the anti’s bought me. and the other aspect of those gun buybacks,no questions asked. it puts the state in the position of possibly aiding and abetting felony level crimes as some of those guns are no doubt stolen and some of them may have bodies on them. and the state disposes of the only real evidence that could connect people to these crimes.

  6. What normal people see when reading this headline:

    “Chicago Gun Buyback Initiated”

What gang bangers see when reading this headline:

    “Chicago Evidence Buyback Initiated”

  7. I think gun buybacks are great. They provide a good source of drop guns for the local PD, make the politicians appear like they give a sh!t and allow newspapers to print treacly stories about saving the children. A win-win-win if you ask me.
