In December 2012, five months after James Holmes opened fire on theater-goers in Aurora Colorado, a knife-wielding Chinese madman attacked a primary school. Twenty-two children were wounded. Wounded, not killed. Gun control advocates seized on the story as proof that a gun-free society is safer than one like, say, the United States, whose citizens have a Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms. Ignoring the human rights abuses inflicted on China’s citizenry by its own government. Truth be told, there is no such thing as a gun-free society. The Chinese government has guns. And they’re not afraid to use them . . .
Chinese officials say 21 people were killed after a fight broke out during a police investigation of suspected criminals in the latest act of violence in the restive northwest province of Xinjiang.
The clashes began Tuesday, when social workers came across what state media referred to as “suspicious individuals and knives” in a house in western Kashgar prefecture.
“Restive.” I wonder if that’s how the Brits described American colonists back in the day. Voice of America says the social workers met an untimely end.
“While [the social workers] were in the process of reporting this to their superiors they were apprehended by bandits who were hiding in the home. Afterwards policemen and community cadres at the local police station went to handle the matter, and the bandits killed the police and community workers who were inside the home,” said the official.
The Xinjiang official, who did not wish to be named, said the suspects set fire to the house during the clashes. Fifteen social workers and police were killed, while six “gang members” were shot dead. Another eight were captured.
Even if you take this report at face value—a pretty silly thing to do—it’s clear that a gun-free society is not a violence-free society. How could it be?
The antis don’t care about living in a factually free society.Rather they care about “pretending” to live in a violence free society.Weapon control laws serve as a psychological salve for the weak minded. One wonders how a law against hurricanes will keep New Orleans safe.
As long as humans are involved, there will not be a peaceful violence free utopia such as anti’s will it to be.
ST: great post
Roscoe: Humans aren’t any more violent or cruel than any other animal. Animals rape, thieve, and tear other animals apart with their teeth every damn day. Nature is no “peaceful violence free utopia” with or without humans.
It’s all about fluffy bunnies, and rainbows.. The placebo effect as it were..
Don’t forget Unicorns…. 🙂
If we could save just one Unicorn!!! I digress….
The BBC is reporting what this article called “social workers” as “community workers search[ing] homes for weapons”.
Funny how words get garbled when translating Chicom BS to Chinese to English.
We employed the same social workers in the Elian Gonzales case…
Maybe the problem was the police’s guns. They were obviously calling out to the criminals to commit violent crimes so the police would be forced to use the guns to kill people, thereby fulfilling the guns purpose for existing. Or not.
Yes we can have a gun free society just like China. How many millions has the chinese government killed to create their gun free society? And it turns out their version of utopia is still just as fracked up as all the other supposed paradise’s on Earth.
Think I’ll just hang onto my guns, thank you.
On a totally unrelated note. I just returned from my LGS where they are getting pistols in. But what really messed with my mind was a Mosin Nagant m44 for an asking price of 400 bucks.
Get it! Buying “unnecessary” guns is a wonderful and sincere way to tell the antis to pound sand.
I will buy an unnecessary gun in the next few days, A81. It just won’t be a 400 dollar m44. Not when I used to buy them at gun shows for 50-60 bucks.
They are selling for about $360 for an M44 or M91/30. I am glad I got one of each for $79 and $75 dollars respectively back in 2007. Things are a little crazy out there.
Chairman Mao murdered 80 million people. He had guns, his victims didn’t.
That’s Obama’s Vision for a Fundementaly Changed Amerika
BTW soem WH flunkey stated today that Holder cannot prosecute the Boston Bombers because of sequestration
Although the most recent knife attack on schoolkids in China resulted in no deaths, that is not true of several other similar attacks there.
Wikipedia: “School attacks in China (2010–12)
A series of uncoordinated mass stabbings, hammer attacks, and cleaver attacks in the People’s Republic of China began in March 2010. The spate of attacks left at least 25 dead and some 115 injured.”
I haven’t seen any independent reports of that 22 that were supposedly only wounded in the knife attack. I wonder how many died and the Chinese sqashed that part of the story in an effort to preserve the image of the peoples paradise.
I would not be so cynical about every news report out of China, certainly the Chinese government is capable of doing a lot of bad things, but that does not make everything reported in the news false. If anything I would think that Muslim/government clashes are UNDER reported.
My wife is from that region of China. Her family actually used to have a gun to protect themselves from possible attacks from Muslims. The muslims in that area do attack other people, my brother-inlaw lives in a city where several hundred people where killed in a muslim riot just a couple of years ago.
A friend of mine, more world-wise than I was at the time, once told me, “wherever you are, MUSLIMS ARE TROUBLE!”
Yep. He might have added, “people on a mission from the Almighty are trouble.”
The fact the US even has a military with guns is proof already the anti-gun people are a bunch of hypocrites. The very freedoms they enjoy is made possible by people using guns, whether it’s the military, law enforcement, or the militia.
End of story.
Every anti-gun advocate needs to be drafted into the military or serve as a law enforcement officer so the next time they feel it’s necessary to open their mouth and say something moronic, they’ll at least have a better understanding of what makes the 1st Amendment possible, the 2nd Amendment.
That’s the thing about antis and leftists, they’re not anti-gun. They’re anti-freedom. They’re willing slaves, forever licking the government’s hand as they rule over them. They need the stern hand of their overlords to do everything for them.
Guns symbolize freedom, and free people make them angry and insecure.
The question isn’t whether there will be guns; it’s who will have them. Funny how the same people who think slave state, communist China is a great role model for government (which murdered scores of millions of its own people little more than five decades ago), also want to disarm the American people.
I did see a heartning tube video of Chinese cops in action. A guy was holding a hostage in an upper floor & the cop swung over with a rope from another window & shot him dead,no contacting family members,no handing over an obamaphone, no reading of rights, just justice on the spot. Randy
There will always be violence. A gun allows you to choose whether you want to have a fighting chance.
Xinjiang is to the faaaaaaar west in China, one of its special autonomous regions, so it gets a fancy name – “Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region”. Official Communist Party propaganda says the region is under tight control like the rest of the country, but the reality of geography is government control is only so-so. Since its a region that borders not only Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, but volatile areas like Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India, you can be there’s a fair amount of lawless there, along with weapons and drug dealing.
Since many of the people in the region are also ethnic minorities and not Han Chinese, and religiously speaking, there’s a significant amount of Muslims (and not fans of the atheistic Communist party), tension is understandable.
Still, the people there are like people anywhere – some good, some bad, and plenty of folks in the middle. My roommate from college spent a summer out there as an exchange student and swore to me that it has some of the most beautiful and forlorn landscapes he’s ever seen. Quite a recommendation coming from someone who’s from the scenic Pacific NW like myself.
I have been to rural China several times and what he says is true, especially the areas near the Himalayas. that said, there is nothing like going out of your comfort zone to appreciate the freedoms you have at home. I was never happier to be in Chicago then when I landed at ohare.

Mostly from school attacks, then again, we know China has let all the incidents get reported, no, they wouldnt, they would lose face if they did!
