This week was one for the record books. End even though I’m dead on my feet I’m sorry to see it end. We’ve collectively walked hundreds of miles, handled hundreds of guns, and bumped elbows with the shooting industry’s movers and shakers. Together, our SHOT Show coverage completely dominated the internet. We carpet-bombed, cluster-bombed, and dropped The Big One on the competition with (by my count) 150 articles posted in five days. Not counting this one. But it’s not all about stats and hits and time on site . . .

It’s also about the drive that brought us all here, and the incredible rewards we’ve been honored to receive. Despite getting lasered twice in the head at close range by clueless dumbf*cks, Media Day At The Range was among the best days of my life. I spent a whole day shooting a case full of ammo through a dozen brand-new handguns, in the company of many most excellent writers and bloggers.

I had the pleasure of finally meeting some of the people who made two of the best guns I’ve ever shot: Arthur at Armalite and Ken at Wild West Guns. I got to see an early preview of an indescribably intense, thrilling movie. I saw Ted Nugent, Nutnfancy, the Gunny and the entire Red Jacket crowd, and personally met two Top Shot winners. And I never had to listen to FPSRussia’s phony Slavic drawl, not even once.

I got to meet my long-distance colleagues Robert, Nick and Dan in person, and was blessed to discover that they’re even more fun and professional in person than they are over the phone or email.

Nick, in particular, is a MONSTER. I ran my bones ragged trying to put up half the content he generated. Someday years down the road, I’ll boast to the guy in the next shooting lane that I got to work the SHOT show with the legendary Foghorn, and he’ll think I’m making it up.

It’s been an honor, gentlemen, and I can’t wait until next time. As long as I have a month or two to catch up on my sleep before then. Don’t be surprised if you don’t hear much from me in the next week; I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep. And miles to go before I sleep.

  1. You guys did a great job. All week I was looking for regular updates and only this site satiated my curiosity. In my mind its almost better than being there. Sure, I didn’t get to handle any of the guns, but then again, my feet aren’t tired and I did not have to deal with the TSA and Airline Nazis.
