Piers Morgan Tonight (courtesy deadline.com)

Piers Morgan’s final words on Piers Morgan Live:

I have lived and worked in America for much of the past decade, and it is a magnificent country. A land of true opportunity that affords anyone, even British chancers like me, the opportunity to live the American dream. The vast majority of Americans I have met are decent, hard-working, thoroughly dependable people. As my brother, a British Army colonel, says, “You’d always want an American next to you in a trench when the going gets tough.” . . .

But that’s where guns belong – on a military battlefield, in the hands of highly trained men and women fighting for democracy and freedom. Not in the hands of civilians. The scourge of gun violence is a disease that now infects every aspect of American life.
Each day, on average, 35 people in this country are murdered with guns, another 50 kill themselves with guns, and 200 more are shot but survive. That’s 100,000 people a year hit by gunfire in America.

Now, I assumed that after 70 people were shot in a movie theater, and then, just a few months later, 20 first-graders were murdered with an assault rifle in an elementary school, the absurd gun laws in this country would change. But nothing has happened. The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms.

This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry. So angry, in fact, that some people have criticized me for being too loud, opinionated, even rude when I have debated the issue of guns. But I make no apologies for that.

As Sir Winston Churchill said: “If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time – a tremendous whack.”

My point is simple: more guns doesn’t mean less crime as the NRA repeatedly says. It means more gun violence, death and profits for the gun manufacturers. And to those who claim my gun control campaigning has been “anti-American”, the reverse is true. I am so pro-American that I want more of you to stay alive.

But I’ve made my point. I’ve given it a tremendous whack. Now it’s down to you. It’syour country; these are your gun laws. And the senseless slaughter will only end when enough Americans stand together and cry: Enough!

I look forward to that day. And I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Goodnight, thank you, and God bless America. Oh, and while I’m at it, God bless Great Britain too.

[Please note: ad hominem attacks (a.k.a., flames) against Mr. Morgan will be deleted. Please keep it civil.]

      Ok whew…
Now, Mr. Morgan. I would much rather live here in the US, where we have scary guns, than in the UK. Not that I don’t like Brits, they are a perfectly lovely bunch. Love football, and the country side there.
But with all due respect, the only time I have ever been assaulted in my life was in London. The criminal element runs rampant, and the general public just takes it. We have our rights, and we will not give them up, end of conversations sir. It really is that easy.

      • I like your comment. We in America have a God given right to own guns. As a matter of fact No weapon should be off limits to the public, to protect our freedom from a tyrannical, oppressive government like the one we have now, as well as those telling the government what to do.The second amendment doesn’t say our right to own guns is for hunting. It says we have the right to defend our country from what we have now. We can talk about it till hell freezes over and they will still do as they are doing now. Taking our rights away, and playing God. If we want to keep America, we MUST protect and defend it from those who want to make us slaves, and sell off our country to the highest bidders. We as Americans have a right to the same weapons they will use against us. Believing anything less is foolish to say the least.

        • It’s not only Americans who posess the natural right to keep and bear arms. All human beings are born with unalienable rights. In other lands, the people have allowed government to infringe upon those rights. I do some outreach to Liberty minded people outside of the US. It’s encouraging to hear people around the globe expressing their desire to fortify their right to keep and bear arms. Unfortunately, many of those born in foreign lands aren’t often raised on the notion of unalienable natural rights. It’s something that must be learned later as opposed to being something ingrained in them from youth. We’ve been doing the same to our youth. Many don’t understand their freedom. Give a few more generations and I fear that most in our nation won’t have any more of a grasp of Liberty than those under oppressive governments. We’re undoing the very underpinnings of our free nation.

  1. I find it so odd that he continues to beat that dead horse. It’d be like an American going to England and advocating for the elimination of the monarchy. Incessantly.

When someone moves to a new place, it is incredibly rude to ask everyone else to change their ways to suit them. These diatribes demonstrate an arrogance that’s hard to fathom. You’d think after his ratings plummeted, he would have moved on to different topics.

I guess some lessons have to be learned the hard way.

    • “These diatribes demonstrate an arrogance that’s hard to fathom.”

That is the very nature of statists — they claim to know better than everyone else and they insist on implementing their “solutions” regardless of what anyone else thinks or wants.

    • Its the British monarchy thing, he is absolutely bewildered by the concept that the government is limited in what it can do. That it can’t just snap its fingers and take away a right that was listed as number #2 on a list of 10 absolute rights guaranteed to the American people, bought with blood, and fought for against german mercenaries purchased by the British crown with taxes stolen from a people given no voice in their future. You know what he thought of the Great Britain in V for Vendetta? A good start.

    • We don’t like him any better over here…

      http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/timstanley/100263513/piers-morgans-guest-explains-to-him-why-he-lost-his-cnn-show-because-he-was-rude/

“Here’s why the CNN gig didn’t work out: Morgan was too rude. A lot of Brits go to America and presume that a) all Americans are fake and b) they’ll appreciate someone explaining to them what’s wrong with their country. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Oh, Americans can take criticism – which is why Christopher Hitchens and John Oliver flourished out there. But they’re not “fakes” and they don’t like being told by foreigners that they’re “messed up”. Who would? Americans are, nine-times-on-ten, honestly nice people who appreciate good manners. Be polite to them and tell them how much you like their country before you offer any spiky observations about their (often) bizarre way of life. In other words, act like a polite guest would. Not like the jerk who turns up uninvited to the party, helps themselves to a beer from the fridge and starts asking the host why his kids are so fat.

To rudeness, Piers added arrogance. Take the guns debate. When the Sandy Hook massacre happened it was right for Morgan to broadcast about it and, as a Brit, he was entitled to raise questions about America’s gun laws. But he acted as though no one had ever thought to discuss the subject before. Like, ever. He tried to make gun control his own personal crusade, to “school” the Americans on law and order. And he displayed a crass insensitivity towards issues such as the importance of the Constitution or the American tradition of self-reliance. The scale of his ego was extraordinary. No US liberal has ever managed to challenge their country’s fundamental respect for gun ownership. Why did he imagine that a guy with an English accent – the accent of George III no less – would succeed where Bill Clinton, Teddy Kennedy or Barack Obama had failed?”

      • In a way, that seems like unfair criticism. I mean, how many here would like to have the opportunity to “school” that tool? To educate him repeatedly in the error of his ways?

  2. A proper gentleman would have said “God save the Queen”, not “God bless Great Britain”.

    • I heard that disingenuous drivel and almost threw a shoe at the TV.

He isn’t anti-American. He is SO pro-American that he spits, sh!ts and p!sses all over it.

  3. I will be sure to send him some peppermints when he gets convicted in the phone hacking scandal and has to serve prison time being someone’s COMMENT MODERATED

  4. “But that’s where guns belong – on a military battlefield, in the hands of highly trained men and women fighting for democracy and freedom.”

Just take out “on a military battlefield” and we’ll be good. Thanks…

    • Where does he think that those stalwart American soldiers came from? Especially in WW II, the US Army training program was no great shakes, especially compared to the Germans’, but one difference is that millions of GIs already knew how to shoot, really shoot, before Uncle Sam put a Garand into their hands.

And what about the millions, maybe even tens of millions, of vets of America’s various wars and peacetime service? Do they suddenly become untrustworthy upon being discharged?

      • Yeah, and boatloads of those undertrained GIs really, REALLY loved those Garands, too. All the years of the Great Depression, most had never even seen such a fine rifle, and Uncle Sugar gave each man his own, brand new out of the box. And they could just shoot the shit out of them! Our fathers and grandfathers, the world will never see the like again.

  5. What is it about a trench that turns a murderous or dangerously inept American with a gun into the last, best defense for “democracy and freedom”? Why do we, as yokel Americans, suddenly turn into thugs and hillbillies when we leave the trench? If I lived in a trench could I continue to be the proper kind of gun owner?

    • You make an extremely important point … make sure you impress that singular point to your family, friends, and coworkers who advocate for gun control. Show them that they are disgusting for suggesting that you are a violent scumbag criminal unless you are in a trench wearing a U.S. military uniform.

  6. “But that’s where guns belong – on a military battlefield, in the hands of highly trained men and women fighting for democracy and freedom. Not in the hands of civilians.”

Fighting for democracy and freedom – according to piers above, civilians shouldn’t be doing this. When has the “military” in recent times ever been fighting for “freedom”

    • From the end of the second world war until the collapse of the soviet empire the American military fought for your freedom in a cold war that got hot on a regular basis. It amazes me when people can look at Stalin and Mao and not believe that they would have spread their brand of slavery world wide if not for the checking influence of the US and it’s military.

The fact that we’re able to discuss these matters on this site is proof that your freedom was protected.

      • ” It amazes me when people can look at Stalin and Mao and not believe that they would have spread their brand of slavery world wide if not for the checking influence of the US and it’s military.

Sure – But instead of Stalin and Mao spreading their brand of slavery world wide, we have the United States Regime spreading their brand of slavery world wide. Instead we have VADM William H. McRaven and LTG Joseph Votel commanding Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) and authorizing drone strikes on the soil of sovereign foreign nations (we would call this an act of war if another country performed this to us) killing who? US citizens with no due process whatsoever. Collateral damage? Who cares… we are the USA. We are spreading freedom worldwide missile after missile. Who wants some freedom? We drop some freedom on you. We got a drone with freedom painted on the side of it. You just keep dreaming that the US military are freedom loving individuals with morals in mind instead of orders. Just keep telling yourself that. Whatever makes you feel better.

The fact that we’re able to discuss these matters on this site is proof that your freedom was protected.

The fact that we are discussing these matters online anonymously? Sure. I feel very protected – especially from the “five eyes” global surveillance program revealed by Edward Snowden with the NSA tracking all your internet activity. Discuss your matters on this site all you want – as it is scanned by the NSA (who doesn’t answer to the laws of the United States) for dissident comments. Feel your freedom being protected. Just keep telling yourself that. Whatever makes you feel better.

  7. If I made my point as Morgan suggests, “like a pile driver”, it would only be deleted.
So the politically correct version is: I disagree with Mr. Morgan and hope he doesn’t get another show. I don’t believe he loves America. He is here because he was driven out of his own country after making false allegations against his military and then creating props to make his fabrications more convincing. He saw America as a place to be exploited, where he could live in luxury and be surrounded by his own armed security.

  8. Bizarre he quoted Winston Churchill. Didn’t we DONATE a bunch of private & public weapons to Britain during WW2? Because they had already turned Britain into a gun control paradise? Because Americans had the RKBA? Good to see him FAIL.

    • It’s odd that he would quote Churchill since that gentleman carried a pistol with him most of the time.

    • Yes. In WW II (I think WW I, also, but not sure) US citizens would affix their names and addresses on rifles that were sent to England (prior to US involvement). I think there was a couple of American Rifleman articles about it.

      • They hoped to someday get their beloved firearms back. Instead, GB destroyed them, thank you very much, we know what is good for you. Next time, they certainly will not get mine.

    • The U.S. government sent boatloads of firearms, some of them donated out of American citizens’ personal collections, to the British for use in the war. When hostilities ended, they just couldn’t stand the idea of the peasants bearing arms, so they destroyed many of the weapons donated to them. British soldiers weren’t even allowed to bring guns home as war trophies. I guess old habits die hard.

    • Let’s just hope that his replacement is not even worse. Has CNN actually learned anything from this fiasco?

      • Excellent concept. My bet is that his replacement will be as bad or worse, but cautioned to maintain a lower profile.

  9. Also said by Winston Churchill,
“The truth is incontrovertible, malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end; there it is.”

    and
“A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.”

Here’s to hoping that that this lie of a man (Piers) who has already gone halfway around the world, will complete his journey full circle.

  10. Mr. Morgan, thank you for being concerned about our well being, but it is AMERICA’s Guns that kept you and your country from speaking German. Your welcome. Now please go away.

  11. In the end; we won, (this battle). Just as we have been winning more than losing across the country; a few of the slave states have increased their gun control efforts. But more of the more free states have been increasing American gun rights.

It will be interesting now the Obama Care (gag) is out and so many people are so angry about it. even leftists; what will be the results at the polls come election time.

  12. “The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence.”

As a lifetime member of the NRA (40+ years), I would like to thank Piers for his ringing endorsement.
I take great pride in being able to bully politicians into cowardly silence, and I wish it would work on the more obnoxious ones – Pelosi, Feinstein, Schumer, Obama the Feckless, etc. Mr. Morgan’s comments have provided me with a wonderful Schadenfreude moment. Plus, I gloat. BWAAAHAAAAA ..

    • When the government fears its citizens, it listens and acts for them. When it doesn’t, well, it acts selfishly for itself.

    • Once again a grabber calls out one gun rights org by name. The NRA. And yet there’s low info sheeple commenting on this site that will not join or support the NRA. Cause Wayne gets paid a lot? You pay a workman what his efforts are worth.

The NRA is the 800 pound gorilla in the room for guys like morgan.

      • And yet there are low-testosterone statists commenting on this site that will not support the actual right to keep and bear arms but will fully fight for privileges in its place.

      • I’ve got some differences with the NRA, but the fact is that they do wield influence – both because of the resources they have and because individual NRA members are committed and act as a block.

They ain’t perfect, but when the last push for gun control started, I knew what I had to do. I joined for three years and wrote a check to NRA-ILA that day.

  13. To believe what Piers does you have to believe that your government will never – no, not EVER – turn against you. And to believe that, you have to be blind to the ugliness of past and current events. If only Mr. Morgan was alone in his opinion, but how many millions of our fellow Americans also feel that the government and the police are there to protect us; that they will never do anything to hurt us and therefor should be the only ones allowed to handle guns? It makes my brain hurt. And my heart, a little bit. Getting rid of Piers is such a teeny, tiny part of the problem. Still… door, ass, etc.

    • To believe Piers, you have to completely ignore human nature, especially as it relates to power and money by sticking your head in the sand and saying LA-LA-LA-LA-LA repeatedly.

Many who get a taste for power, soon desire absolute power, answering to nobody but themselves. You already know the saying about absolute power corrupts.

  14. I am just glad to see him go. The man is a bully. I understand his view point, because he shoves it down our throat all the time. I don’t even mind that he opinion differs from mine. What I never liked is that he treated guests with no respect. He was loud, rude and when he was “losing” he just resorted to name calling. Much like most anti-2A people. All huff and no substance. Happy to see him off the air.

  15. I suspect that Mr. Morgan will eventually turn up some where else with the same boring message.
We just gotta kept playing “whac-a-mole” with this Brit until he has finally had enough.
Good bye for now, I hope you vacation in the UK and decide to stay.

    • @ g boyd I doubt it. I don’t see any network taking a chance on him. CNN did and it was a galactic failure. CNN tried because they were desperate. As distasteful as it is for Piers Morgan, he’s a nobody who desperately wants to be a somebody, but his character flaws render him virtually unemployable on two continents.

The most important thing in a job is to get along with others. Morgan doesn’t do that. Among his many flaws, he’s arrogant and egotistical.

I’m glad to see him gone and hope he stays gone.

  16. Just leave and go away already you loser. And while you’re at it, you might want to take your pal, leland yee along. Oh wait, isn’t he under arrest?

  17. “But that’s where guns belong – on a military battlefield, in the hands of highly trained men and women fighting for democracy and freedom. Not in the hands of civilians.”

    Piers:
SOME of those “highly trained men and women” are “civilians” — members of the National Guard or Reserves of the Armed Forces of the United States.
SOME “civilians” are honorably discharged veterans of our Armed Forces, who have reverted to “civilian status”.
ALL of them were “civilians” before they became “highly trained men and women” in service to their country.

I don’t care about your brother’s service. What service did you perform for your country — either the country of your birth or that of your residence?

  18. Ten years in the states and he still hasn’t grasped the American concept of rights vs laws. In his defense, half of America doesn’t either.

  19. Maybe he’s right guys? If we ban guns like Britain, nobody will ever die again unless the government wants them to. All the criminals will cheerfully surrender their weapons like when Ralph’s has a gun buyback!

  20. In his arrogance he miscalculated what he could force feed his audience. He assumed Americans to be far more gullible as a people. He should have remembered the idea of a gun behind every blade of grass when contemplating invading America. In the end no one watched. As Yogi said ” If the fans don’t want to come to the ballpark, there’s no way your going to stop them.

    • And in the end the American viewers expressed their disinterest in him and his message, and left.

    • You know, that’s a good question. MSNBC, for example, is so far out there that his malignant stupidity might just be a draw. Falls into the “who cares” category, since all who watch are damaged goods already.

  21. IF any of the anti-gun crowd can produce a bill that would actually stop people from doing things that are ALREADY illegal, I would support that bill 100%. The core problem with all gun control laws is that they try to prevent behavior that is already illegal by banning things that have legitimate legal uses and are not bad or illegal in and of themselves under the premise that these laws will be obeyed by the very people who are intending to break other laws. If gun control actually worked as advertised it would be completely and utterly unnecessary because other laws already cover the very behaviors gun control laws are allegedly targeting. Criminals, by their very definition, break the law and people intent on doing harm and violence will always find ways of doing so whether or not they have access to firearms and those that wish to use guns can always find ways to obtain them even if they are barred by law.

  22. “But that’s where guns belong – on a military battlefield, in the hands of highly trained men and women fighting for democracy and freedom. Not in the hands of civilians.”

What he is really saying is that guns only belong in the hands of government. Sounds more like a concept of tyranny than one of freedom and liberty. Morgan may have lived here for a decade, but he does not have the slightest concept of what it means to be an American. He is right when he says it is our country and our laws, but he does not believe that in his heart. Gun crimes are already illegal. No amount of extra legislation can make it any more illegal and while the Constitution does not guarantee safety. As always quoted by Ben Franklin…….Those Who Sacrifice Liberty For Security Deserve Neither.

  23. Mr. Morgan is entitled to his opinion and not much more. There’s a little thing called a Constitution here that allows its citizens the right to bear arms. If only the military and other government entities are allowed to posses guns because they are “highly trained” I see a huge problem with that. The war on guns will be like the war on drugs. An epic failure that will cost billions. But in the meantime, it will create jobs and make people insanely rich. There will be no less guns and no less violence. However, you will keep guns away from reasonable people, who are sane, law-abiding citizens.

I am for gun regulation in terms of background checks and trying to ensure guns don’t get in the hands day 1 of somebody who obviously doesn’t want to use it for home protection or target practice. But the notion of banning guns and such is just laughable. It just creates a huge underground black market.

Anybody hear of Leland Yee? He was anti-gun and signed all kinds of legislation. Turns out, he always was making a lot of money gun running.

  24. You are correct, Mr. Morgan. It is OUR country. Not yours. You’ve made that painfully clear more than once. Don’t come here to tell us how to live. We know how we want to live. We don’t need holier-than-Thou types to make our decisions for us.

  25. I’d say it’s been a pleasure but if I did I’d be so full of s765 that my eyes would be brown

    • Yo! My eyes are brown and I’m not full of s***. 😛

As for Piers Morgan’s final comments, I give him my most damning response: No Comment.

  26. Well Piers Morgan – You’ve worn out your welcome months ago, if not longer. You just don’t get it… never have, and you undoubtedly never will. You’re a Brit, and we don’t expect you to. Our country was founded by a group of brave souls who fled your country in search of freedom… from the confines of British society.
This country was built on several core principles, and one of them being the right to keep and bear arms. Using your way of thinking only the government and the military should keep and bear arms, making the rest of us just sheep. That’s not how it works here, and we grew tired long ago of your constant basking of our beliefs.
Don’t go away mad, just go away. We’ll be happier, and so will you wherever you may end up.

  27. In the 90’s on an extended vacation in England watching the news about the Irish group Sinn Fein, the volume suddenly went off. I looked at my host and they thought nothing of it. Asking why, she relayed the government does not allow that leaders words broadcast on television. After years in the military, in that moment I finally understood how precious our 1st amendment is. Limited free speech, limited gun ownership, seems our allies still fail to understand the depth by which we hold our Rights, and what separates us from the rest of the world, and how much better we are because of them.

  28. civilian guns mean more mayhem ….
I have not seen any dead guys with gunshot wounds on my farm, and I have seen NO ROBBERIES or muggings or any of that. I will stick with my side of this argument Mr Morgan, and you can just give me a call the next time you are mugged.
    Robert Seddon

  29. He seems to ignore his brother the Colonel wants a Yank next to him in the trench…where the hell does he think that Yank learned to use that gun in his hand? Civilian gun ownership is the sole source of quality military shooters. Britain got their butts kicked in the Boer war simply because their conscripts lacked, among other things, decent skills with a firearm and so the Boy Scouts was created to fill that gap. WW2 could not be won by today’s crop of unqualified Brits…if he believes guns belong only in the military, may as well dismantle the British military entirely.

    • Exactly. And as for politicians being bullied by the NRA, I was an instructor at an NRA pistol course yesterday sponsored by my local state rep. Wayne LaPierre was not there twisting his arm behind his back. There is a waiting list to get in this course.

  30. This is Piers’ typical liberal lame-ass way of diffusing his diminishing ratings by making it sound as though he “voluntarily” left for family, or whatever, reasons, when he was getting his sorry ass booted anyway.

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

  31. I don’t like him, but at least he ended his show with his honest opinion that no civilian, except a policeman, should be allowed to own any sort of gun. None of that “common sense” incremental false compromise crap.

  32. “My brother the British Army Colonel” – because saying it over and over gives him what? credibility? testicles?….

    • That’s the person – his brother-in-law or whatever – that Pierth said he would like to put on his uniform and shoot Alex Jones. But only after Alex had left the set.

      Thweet!

  33. He is still upset, like many British, that they lost to us years ago and then needed our help to finish not one, but two world wars.

  34. … sure am going to miss Piers.

    🙂

Yeah, I know. 100,000 comedians out of work and here I am auditioning…

  35. Take a moment, won’t you, to send Piers Morgan a message.
You no doubt have a plastic fork laying around the house. You know, the one from KFC or El Pollo Loco or that grease bucket down the street…

You can also write “You’re done” with a sharpie on the handle. Please, no threats, profanities or white powders.

  36. I wonder if, a decade or so hence, if freedom continues to advance and these idiotic anti-freedom gun laws continue to be discarded, WHEN the crime rate continues to drop, will the ethical journalist hiding inside Mr. Morgan creep timidly out and admit that he was wrong?

I look forward to that day, but I’ll continue to breathe regularly just in case he doesn’t.

  37. As Sir Winston Churchill said: “If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time – a tremendous whack.”

excellent point. we should follow that more. no more subtlety. no more cleverness. time to pile driver the antis with the truth. GUNS SAVE LIVES.

  38. To quote the Von Trapp Family Singers: “So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, good bye.” He and Lucas electrical systems should have never went beyond Land’s End.

  39. Well, maybe he can go find a new job. In finance, maybe. Like at Chase, for example.
Then he can get a nice London penthouse on the 30th floor and send himself off of it.

  40. I had a nice chat with some British army officers a few weeks ago. It was interesting to hear them talk about guns in their country. I could have sworn they sounded like me in how rubbish most gun laws are. I gave them some stats on guns in the U.S. And how the guns targeted most often were last likely to be used in crime. They also went and shoot ARs one weekend while here and enjoyed it. They wished they were armed like us.

    • I had the pleasure of shooting with some Irish guys who were in the U.S. once for a long distance shooting competition a few years back. They were very happy to have the chance to shoot the Arsenal AK, DSA FAL, and SIG 9mm I owned at that time. Great people – too bad the UK is the way it is.

  41. At least he is absolutely clear that he is not advocating for “common sense gun laws.” Instead, he is pushing for complete and absolute confiscation of all guns from “civilians”:

But that’s where guns belong – on a military battlefield, in the hands of highly trained men and women fighting for democracy and freedom. Not in the hands of civilians.

Guns in the hands of civilians are a tremendous impediment to totalitarian dreams of utopias.

  42. Dana Loesch declared today #PiersMorganRangeDay

… and encourages everyone to post their range photos at hashtag #PiersMorganRangeDay

  43. “As Sir Winston Churchill said…”

Churchill also said back in the ’40s or ’50s that feminism (or the Suffragette/ Women’s Movement) is the tip of the liberal spearhead that will weaken Western societies to embracing many liberalizing values which will weaken society. In the past 50+ years the West has moved from a position of strength to increasing weakness socially, morally, and politically.

Piers Morgan, and others like him, want the people to submit to a police/security-nanny state leaving the average citizen dependent and (un)protected by governments which are increasingly self-serving, elitist, and morally bankrupt.

  44. Statements meant to enslave people are inherently evil statements. The entire statement is evil, and the manipulation of facts and reason is transparently evil. You cannot reason with evil, and you cannot use facts with evil. You can only defeat it, or in this case, have it thrown off the air. As he says, ”
As Sir Winston Churchill said: “If you have an important point to make, don’t try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time – a tremendous whack.””

  45. Mr. Morgan, you used your “pile driver” and the citizens of the United States have responded. They have voted with their wallets, purses, and at the ballot box. Gun and ammo sales have exploded and anti-gun politicians have been handed their ass in local elections in many States. Your puny, anti-Second Amendment pile driver awoke the masses, and we smashed your pile driver into a million pieces. Good bye.

  46. As much as it pains me to say it, I’m going to miss him. I think his fanaticism actually helped the 2A cause

    • He can’t go back there, or he’ll be arrested! Forced forever to live amongst the thavages….

  47. Isn’t that the guy from CNN that had such terrible ratings that it drug down the network and got him fired?

Sorry I need to be more specific.

Isn’t that the BRITISH guy from CNN that had such terrible ratings that it drug down the network and got him fired?

  48. I’m not going to make an ‘ad hominem’ attack against Piers; that’s just another way of saying I can’t call him out and criticize.

I will say this though: Mr. Morgan….you wish to remove firearms from all law abiding citizens in the US. No one ever mentions removing firearms from the criminal element. Hell, in this country, it seems our Govt wants to arm criminals. Whatever. I just have one question…..how has the gun ban worked in Britain? How’s that violent crime thing working out over there? You know, the crime against your law abiding citizens. You know, the ones that wanted safety and security so much that they let their govt disarm them. There may not be as many shootings as before or whatever but I daresay, that’s because no one wants to argue with a armed thug. Here in the States, we have the option of cowering and whimpering (liberals) or electing to defend yourself and your own like the independent and hardy Americans that we are. The police doesn’t prevent most crime. They are only there to clean up the mess.

  49. “We already run the misfits outta our country. We sent them back to England.”
    Matthew Quigley

  50. Morgan, like most Brits, is an immoral ignoramus who wants to deprive people of their God-given natural right to self defense, which our 2nd Amendment merely protects. Like any delusional proggressive, he ignores the ample empirical evidence demonstrating that more guns does result in less violent crime, and that his preferred gun-control policies kill. Empiricism trumps ideology every time.

  51. Results of Australia’s Gun Ban:
    Armed Robberies up 69%
    Assaults w/Guns up 28%
    Gun Murders up 19%
    Home Invasions up 21%
The favor of your response is requested Piers.

  52. And yet all types of violent crime in the U.S. continues to decline, while the number of guns owned goes up and while violent crime levels in the U.K. have yet to return to the level they were at previous to their pistol ban.

  53. Mr. Morgan, I see that China Central TV is hiring commentators. You should submit your resume. You don’t even need to speak Chinese, since the majority of their commentators are Canadian or British. And Bejing’s air pollution is getting better since the Central Committee announced their new law forbidding it. Why, it’s almost as good as living in Manhattan, but cheaper.

Best of luck, old chap! Pip pip! Stiff upper lip and all that…

  54. a decade later and he still doesn’t know why Americans love freedom. now two continents hate him… what continent will reject him next?

  55. “It’s your country; these are your gun laws.”

Exactly and if you don’t like it, leave and go back to your “Gun Free Paradise”, England. But if you don’t want to travel that far, I would suggest the “Gun Free Paradise” of Mexico.

  56. “Piers Morgan’s Parting Sh?t on Gun Control”…….

    I believe you got a vowel wrong…….

  57. I would ask Mr. Morgan if he ever given any thought to his brother’s observations about Americans – that “You’d always want an American next to you in a trench when the going gets tough.” – and why, exactly, that is the case? Could it be the culture of personal responsibility and ability to think for themselves, and perhaps, just perhaps, a familiarity with firearms which makes them such great and dependable warriors?

Something for him to think about while he’s sending his resume to Wonkette.com, hoping to get on their staff.

  58. Has the man without a TV show ever contemplated the fact that if it weren’t for Brit’s we might not have developed the gun culture we now enjoy and fight for?

    • “Has the man without a TV show ever contemplated the fact that if it weren’t for Brit’s we might not have developed the gun culture we now enjoy and fight for?”

      “Contemplated the fact…”

Ha. I see what you did there. In what universe is the assertion that “if it weren’t for Brit’s we might not have developed the gun culture we now enjoy and fight for” a “fact?”

And who is “we” in that sentence? You and Piers?

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

  59. “It’s your country; these are your gun laws.”
EXACTLY. And we are trying to put ACTUAL common sense into them. Go home already Piers.

  60. I am a Brit living in America. I now own many guns and often meet other Brits in Gun Stores.
Most Brits would want less gun control In The UK.
And Most Brits can’t stand Morgan

  61. Who’s he? Oh some limey who had a teevee show that hardly anybody watched. Hence he’s now without a teevee show. The Brits sent him over here because they didn’t want him, so the USA was stuck with him for a few years. Ok Aussies, Kiwis, or Canucks, time to step up (don’t you’ll be sorry)! I guess he’ll shlepp off back to ol’ England.

  62. It would seem he wants to eliminate one of the very things that made Americans so useful in a trench.

  63. “No, Honey, I like the way you do it just fine, it’s just that I like the way my ex did it more…”

Yep, your comment is kind of like that, Piers.

Also, I’m sure that’s not the first time you’ve heard that.

  64. As my brother, a British Army colonel, says, “You’d always want an American next to you in a trench when the going gets tough.” . . . So far, I’m agreeing with his brother….

Each day, on average, 35 people in this country are murdered with guns…in America. 35 every day? There used to be more murders each day, and fewer guns. Yet Piers objects? “Ideological position freeze versus statistics” might be the explanation.

The gun lobby in America, led by the NRA, has bullied this nation’s politicians into cowardly, supine silence. Even when 20 young children are blown away in their classrooms. Since when is doing what the voters want “cowardice” in a politician? And since when is grave-dancing on the tombstones of 20 young children in Connecticut a virtue? They were extremely unlucky because…Nancy. And Adam. And no school safety officer. Two-thirds of that has been fixed.

This is a shameful situation that has made me very angry. The situation is so “shameful” that a plurality of Brits recently polled on their political priorities listed “getting their gun rights back” as #1 on their list (specifically ‘handguns.’) Rights? What was I thinking? “Permissions formerly granted by the upper classes….”

Winston Churchill was an alcoholic racist who despised the lower classes in Britain. His one good work in life was talking the lower orders into fighting two world wars to protect the House of Lords and the Royals. Well done, Winston!

And to those who claim my gun control campaigning has been “anti-American”, the reverse is true. You meant “opposite,” not “reverse.” Not ‘anti-American’ but typically milk-toast left-wing-posh British. Britain, though, truly is a wondrous land of gorgeous landscapes, rich lords, lairds, and bankers, and fine old piles in the countryside, and …..no defensive pistols. Practically heaven for Piers. Why on earth did Piers leave Britain? It makes no sense! Utterly no sense! Ah, deeper problems? Got it.

And the senseless slaughter will only end when enough Americans stand together and cry: Enough! Piers, if you consider the ‘slaughter’ senseless, go tell it to the gangs and career criminals in the hood. They never watched your show, so try urban radio!

    • “As my brother, a British Army colonel, says, “You’d always want an American next to you in a trench when the going gets tough.”

Makes you wonder if he ever stops to think that maybe Americans – Texas cowboys, Kentucky hill folk, Kansas flatlanders, and hunters from all over – maybe those people are such effective fighters because a lot of them know how to handle a rifle long before they think about putting on a uniform.

But what do I know? I’m just a guy who was taught to shoot by my father before I could write my own name and had no trouble qualifying expert with an M-16. I couldn’t possibly have the depth of understanding that Piers Morgan does.

      • Well @#%*! Our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers pulled his ancestors asses out of the German fire. TWICE. Maybe we should think twice next time.

  65. Gee, the moderators don’t like free speech. Sort of fascist-control-freak-like….just like a progressive/socialists…you know..like Hitler, Stalin, and other true baby-killers.

    • “Gee, the moderators don’t like free speech. Sort of fascist-control-freak-like….just like a progressive/socialists…you know..like Hitler, Stalin, and other true baby-killers.”

Kind of like the way this one got censored? Actually, we don’t mind idiots publicly displaying their foolishness for all the world to see, it merely gets tedious after a while.

But thanks for sharing that with us! 🙂

      • The mods here don’t want people acting like howling chimps having a feces battle because that doesn’t accurately portray the gun owning community. It makes us look like a bunch of howling chimps having a feces battle.

But they’re very tolerant of differing points of view.
Lots of liberal gun owners have been posting here lately and none of them have complained of being censored. People here may hate your point of view, but they won’t try to stop you from speaking it. That kind of thing earns my respect.

  66. Somewhere in the Heathrow arrivals lounge, Jeremy Clarkson cracks his knuckles.

    And smiles.

    And waits.

So long, Pierce. It’s been annoying as hell listening to you loudly express ill-informed opinions on topics you know less than nothing about. You will be missed in the same way one misses a cold sore.

    • What makes anyone think he’s actually leaving the US? He’s just leaving the show and the network. Personally, I think he should try and start a cable network for Jezebel or Wonkette.

Don’t think they want him back in the UK, except in the meaning of “wanted for questioning.” And then there’s Clarkson, of course.

  67. He started with “….Now, I assumed that after….” and followed that by dancing the blood of the victims, waving the bloody shirt as high as he could, and then confused the coffins of those victims with the soapbox he wants to stand on.

    What a right-royal git.

I was supposed to say “Pierce who? Never heard of her.” But I got distracted with the macabre visage he promotes and how thoroughly he doesn’t understand what it means to be a Citizen instead of a subject.

  68. Ha..Ha… Now someone show this clown the door! This guy did everything he could do to attract attention to his liberal cause and in the end LOST! Besides no one watches that network anyways.

  69. Piers…
    You have been weighed,
    You have been measured,
And you have been found wanting…good riddance.

  70. “In brief response to the activities of those who knowingly indicate themselves to be among the burgeoning hordes of Anti-American; Anti-Constitutional Republic; Anti-‘Rights’; Anti-RKBA; Immoral; Illiberal, Digressive Statists — “Kiss My Buttstock”.”
    Gw
[ P.M.? One of those people who walks into a room and makes you feel like someone just left.
In sum:- Mostly Harmless, but suffice it to say this cat has absolutely no clue where his towel’s at. ]

  71. I am glad he is gone. He hates the second amendment and the constitution. More people are killed with cars and knifes, should they ban those too?

  72. It’s funny what he says about having an American in the trench beside you, because my Dad, who fought in WWII and Korea said the same thing about Brits. Only he used the term “Limey” in a sense of fondness. Not derogatory.
