The response to our content contest has been, well, overwhelming. So much so that we haven’t been able to get to – let alone post – all of the worthy entries we’ve received so far. But this isn’t Nam, Smokey, there are rules here. We said we’d announce a winner today, and so we will. But given the fact that we still have a passel of entries to read and publish, we tend to agree with Marilyn Monroe: if we’d observed all the rules along the way, we never would have gotten anywhere. So the winner of the entries we’ve received and read so far is…Michael Stephenson for his heart-tugger about getting a gun for Mr. Lee. If you haven’t read it yet, you should really do it now. Michael will soon be shooting a beautiful new FNS-40 Long Slide. But wait, where does that leave the rest of the more than two dozen entries we have in hand? . . .

We want to be fair to those writers, too. So we’ve prevailed on FNH USA and they’ve generously agreed to provide a third gun (in addition to the original and the prize for the video contest). So we’re taking the presidential approach and arbitrarily extending the contest deadline buy executive fiat. We don’t need no steenkin’ Congressional approval here either.

So if you’ve already sent us an entry, you still have a shot at a gun. If you haven’t, you now have another week. Just email it to us by midnight Sunday, December 8 (again with CONTEST SUBMISSION in the subject field). We’ll continue to post the best and will announce a second winner early the following week. Good luck and get to work.

  1. Looks like my procrastination has been rewarded. Potentially…

And kudos to the winner of the first gun!

  2. The chosen story about the 1911 for Mr. Lee was by far the most captivating of the entries I read. Good choice by TTAG.

  3. Thanks guys! Looking forward to breaking in the FNS-40 and letting you all know how it performs. I guess my Christmas wishlist will now consist of .40 ammo with a side of .40 ammo.

  4. Congrats! I enjoyed reading all the entries. I wrote one, but I am not a professional writer and it did not get posted. This only goes to show that TTAG guys are professional and only posted the best entries. Congrats to all who entered and congrats to the grand prize winners!!

  5. how do i know if my entry was received? i emailed it last week and never got a response from anybody. is it an unmanned email account?
