So there we were in the SHOT Show press room. Once again, TTAG’s A-Team was cranking-out post after post on guns ‘n gear. Dan, Nick and Chris were nailing it. Not me. Aside from occasional forays to the floor to photo booth babes, I stayed topside blogging gun rights news. I decided to check the top ten posts. All of them were 2A-related. None of them were SHOT-related. Denis Leary’s voice popped into my head: “Yeah, it’s that important.” Roger that. TTAG’s changed . . .
We’ve evolved from an electronic gun magazine to a Second Amendment jungle telegraph. Works for me. I’ve dedicated my life [now] to defending and extending Americans’ Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms.
We’ll stay true to our catholic tag line. But we’ll do our best to protect our firearms freedom with . . . wait for it . . . the truth about guns. Speaking of which, I’ve got more tabs open than a late-60’s Weight Watchers meeting. Time to get in Digest-tion . . .
As the son of a Holocaust survivor, I’ve got to say it: the Washington Post is as dumb as a post. Germany initiates gun registry, to barely a peep

No matter how this pans out, in the days ahead two words will matter most. Got gun?
Wow so much to take in here, but thanks for the coverage…
Agreed. Thank you.
Note that Business Week is now Bloomberg Business Week.
A couple of years ago some Republicans in the Colorado House tried to kill the Colorado Bureau of Investigations’ background check system, recommending that we just use the NICS system to save money. The Democrats in the Senate sent the bill to a kill committee and it never saw the Senate floor. Now it’s seen as a way to delay gun sales. With Democrat Gov. Hickenlooper having national ambitions and a Democratic majority in both houses, we’re going to have a real tough time beating back legislation here.
I lived in Ft. Collins from 1998 to 2004. The main topic of conversation was the much-despised influx of Californians into the state. Just a guess, but I’d say the lefty-demo stranglehold is somehow related.
I knew a family who did exactly that. Sold their house for big $$$$$ in California and bought a mansion for half that in Colorado.
Two more important words: MOLON LABE.
Gonna have to turn in my junior reporter badge, none of my submissions made the digest. Plenty there I haven’t seen, though!
No. Just keep working toward your senior reporter badge.
RF, just wanted so show my appreciation for your dedication to guns and the 2A. We are lucky to have you on our side. If we could only clone successfully…
“If we could only clone successfully…”
I think Israel would have a shortage on Tavors and models

For those who get upset at the “price gouging” going on I would encourage you to put “price gouging” in the YouTube search box. As much as it sucks, it actually helps the right people.
What we all should realize is how undervalued guns have been.
Did anyone else notice that most of the states considering gun restrictions are not considering mental health issues nor are they considering school safety issues? A little suspicious, don’t you think.
Not suspicious. Just very, very different beliefs about what will actually address the problems we face.
My last job in Connecticut was with a private ambulance service. I would say 50-60% of my work was with drunks, junkies and psych patients. As far as Connecticuts public schools, Im surprised Michael Moore dosnt have a statue in every last one of them
Welcome to New England, hope you enjoyed the ride
The states going for gun restrictions have the highest income inequality and, except for two, the greatest density of very rich folks and academic wonks. They want their kids reined in by bodyguards, not cops. They want to be chauffeured home when drunk or stoned, not thrown in the drunk tank. And they don’t trust ordinary folk with guns. “Dahling, if we have the money and they’ve the guns, how can that possibly be sensible?”
In Massachusetts, there’s a proposal to let police look through the medical records of anyone applying for a gun permit (you need a permit to buy anything, including even pepper spray).
Don’t forget that tasers are illegal here too.
Unfortunately for those of us to your north, when people get tired of the hell they’ve created there, they move here. Then they vote to recreate the same problems for us. Kind of makes me wish Boston was farther south so they would go to Rhode Island or CT instead.
Yea funny thing is, they have Oregon listed as such, but last I heard the Governor said that there wouldn’t be any new legislation. Go figure. Unless I have missed something in the last couple days.
We have to be very careful about what is defined as a mental health issue. Once started down that road, the definition of mental illness will expand until anyone who owns a gun is considered mentally ill.
I like the 2A related conversations here, but don’t forget about the actual hardware either! Keep up the good work.
^this
hopefully we’ll get ourselves a little breathing room in the near future on civil rights. It’s just that SHOT fell at a bad time. I enjoy the gear, but it has to take a backseat for the time being.
They aren’t going away. Obama and allies will do whatever they can to get this done.
The hardware’s irrelevant if it’s confiscated.
Are you sure the title shouldn’t be “A Funny Thing Happened On the Way To SHOT Show”?
The reference is to this,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Funny_Thing_Happened_on_the_Way_to_the_Forum_%28film%29
which uses my phrasing.
Lol I noticed that too.
“Got Gun?”
plenty but my canoe sank in the lake
As much as I am looking for the latest news about the bans on TTAG, reading the hardware/tech posts are a welcome break between hammering out continuous emails to .gov and reposting the critical news on reddit, twitter, FB, youtube, etc.
The Bloomberg Businessweek article is one of the most outrageous examples of yellow journalism I’ve seen to date. “Most concluded that the party had broken a kind of cultural faith with the rural, blue-collar, white male voters who were traditionally an important part of the Democratic base” The context assumes that all Pro-2A people are blue-collar white males, and also implies that there’s something wrong with being someone in that demographic. I’m disgusted by the negative slant, the condescension and airs of superiority, the cherry-picking of facts, and the outright lies that are being perpetrated. I’ve never considered myself a single-issue voter before, but with everything that’s in the works now I don’t see how I can be anything but.
Well, I am a white male. And, while I’m certainly not “blue collar,” I stand by my blue collar brothers-in-arms.
I am a dentist… A Bite-wing Teeth Party Extremist clinging to his occlusion and gums. Don’t drool on me!
I stand by them, as well. I’ve worn blue and white collars in my life. The color of your collar doesn’t decide your rights.
Nor does it determine your worth as an American, nor does it diminish or elevate the value of your opinions and rights.
Got my brother the dentist into guns. Now he’s implanting accessories, and tells me I need to use a special rinse on my guns once a week. “One day a man will be judged not by the color of his collar, but by the content of his character.” Yeah, right. Not in Connecticut.
haha… I got my non-dentist and Massachusetts-resident brother into guns. 🙂
Wow. I didn’t picture you as a dentist, but my best friend is one as well. He was the best man at my wedding and a gun guy as well.
haha…. LOTS of dentists are “gun guys.”
Well, your part of the right website, The Truth About Gums, hint, brush em or your f’n teeth will fall out, Randy
Hahaha…. The Truth About Gums… love it!
Lots of doctors are too. I ran into my wife’s OBY/GYN at the local gun shop during their February open house a couple of years ago. We had a great conversation about all things firearms. He was picking up a FAL.
in just curious about something since you brought it up: when in the hell did it ever become a bad thing to be “blue collar” or the working class of people that actually produces things in this country???
the “new economy”, elitist keynesian pukes never ceases to amaze me. Right, because America became a superpower by funneling money around to different hands and collecting debt/interest LOL.
Exactly. It makes you wonder: if our country had workers consuming more of the things we produce, how would the current view of things differ? The elitism and condescension in these articles is unreal.
Ohboy! We can expect MORE political editorials? How fun! I think I’ll take my readership a less opinion-oriented blog.
Bye!
no gun gear without gun rights. right?
The Civil War has begun people.
PUT DOWN ThE AR!
It’s not that kind of war, not yet anyways.Rather the Cold War that’s always been in place between the gun grabbing statists among us and those more educated on liberty has turned hot after Newtown.
Now, people are doubling down on one side or the other. The gun grabbers are on the march, and so are we. New York State passes Order 66 while Wyoming tells DC where Sparta stands regarding Federal gun control.
To quote a line from one of my favorite movies: ” Time is Not Important, only Rights are Important.”
The statement about “top 10 posts” being 2A related and not SHOT show related has a simple reason, and it’s not a reason to change this blog’s historic focus. The reason is that the 2A related posts were the only posts “of substance” in the past week. That’s not to say bad things about the SHOT show coverage, but the SHOT show stories were mostly “New from ABC Company” and included a few photos (or a video) and short blurb. No real depth, and nothing to really inspire conversation. On the other hand, there have been several 2A related stories that have generated lots of conversation, so of course they’re going to be at the top of the “top 10” list, because there’s been nothing to really compete with them. Don’t let the site performance of the last week cause you turn this into an “all 2A politics, all the time” blog. Stick (mostly) to what you’ve been doing for the past year; it’s a formula that works.
Ditto. It’s understandable that 2A politics is hot right now. This, too, shall pass.
+1
That Bloomberg post about falling out of love, links to a story titled:
Despite Obama’s Gun Plan, the Real Action Is in States
…..yes….
And that is where the trenches need to be dug.
Correct, and that’s where we’re losing big time.
Mister Farago, you and your blog are providing a great service to the pro-2A community. The statists want our guns; they’ll use any means available to them to accomplish that task. Keep up the awesome work on the pro-2A front, as well as on the the guns and gear and DGU pieces.
What does noted Providence resident Robert Farago think of the Providence ban on semi-automatic weapons? Is he going to call Alan Gura?
Obama is forcing America to make a choice;
It will not be a choice between white and dark
It will be a choice between greed, sloth and theft
The American gunowner has become the Jew of th 21st centuary and there are many conserevitive Jews.
Jews, Leftist Jews/ Marxists that will push that agenda among their agenda, and if not, end up dead!

And now you get to answer the question “why did’nt they just “off Hitler” before the world was plunged into hell?”
As far as I understand, no laws have been passed, as yet, but the proposals are asinine. A disservice to all, as they stand. If, and I say if, a “civilian” is shot during any attempted enforcement of the these proposed laws, there may very well be a crisis as we have only seen once in our history. If LEOs refuse to enforce, and have a stand off with federal agents, and it comes to shots being fired, there very well could be a declaration of Nat’l emergency and resurrection. And a president staying in office till the crisis is resolved. The government has killed before on US soil, under cover of “The Law”. I am not saying anything of the guilt, or lack of it, on the part of the civilian side, just that the government has proven able and willing.
Sorry, that should have been, “Nat’l emergency and insurrection”………..
The Vatican is a sick joke since they are impostors and nobody gave them any authority over Christians; anyone who has read the King James Bible knows that the Apostle Peter had a wife and was an ‘elder’ and was never a ‘pope’ (the word pope is not even found in the Bible and is false). It doesn’t surprise me that they would support Obama when it comes to guns since the Catholic “church” is the original thug organization that murdered real Christians and would make inquisition against people who read the Bible in their own tongue.
A person should have a right to defend themselves, but at the end of the day have you believed the Gospel(I.e. how that Jesus Christ the Son of God died for our sins according to the scriptures, that he was buried and that he rose the third day according to the scriptures)? If you do believe then you already have eternal life since salvation is by faith alone; Jesus is God in the flesh.
Oh and by rose the third day, I mean, “He rose to life again the third day”. In case anyone is curious you can find the verses in 1 Corinthians 15: 3,4

Sounds like Morrissey is a real winner. Kind of hard to bring this up without being accused of running a smear campaign, whoever ran against him. But still, how did voters not hear about any of this, or hear it yet still voted for him?
I am glad one of the freedoms, is freedom from religion. It is the world’s oldest political organization. Divine Right To Rule.
Freedom OF religion.
Hey RF,
Thanks for the coverage TTAG is providing.
I would suggest that you pull out that video of the acting ATF director and make it a standalone post. This is too important to be buried midway down a bunch of other entries in this post. This looks like an internal video that probably wasn’t to be released to the public. Someone took video of a computer screen and leaked it. Does anyone else see the irony in the acting director handing down a stern directive that there will be consequences for actions not following the chain of command and the first thing someone does is leak a copy of this threat, thus not following the chain of command?
DENIS LEARY? You mean that guy who stole Bill Hicks’ material? That guy?
Regarding the Stag Arms backlog: a certain other AR manufacturer reached over $200 million in backlog this past week. Yeah, you read that right. $200 million.
While I agree, that right now I am extremely interested in gun politics, I hate having to think about that. I’ve spent most of my life having to deal with gun control idiots. And when it finally felt like the tide was turning our way, it all comes back again. For right now we have to focus on maintaining out rights, but I look forward to the day when we can devote our attention to the really interesting thing about guns, which are the guns.
