From the CCRKBA . . .

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s declaration of a “disaster emergency on gun violence” is a desperate attempt to shift blame to guns and the firearms industry to mask his own incompetence in dealing with rising crime in the Empire State, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

Cuomo announced his “emergency” after 51 people were shot across the state over the July 4 holiday weekend, including 26 in just New York City. Asserting that, “We went from one epidemic to another epidemic, we went from COVID to the epidemic of gun violence,” Cuomo argued that “more people are dying of gun violence than of COVID.” But CCRKBA fired right back.

“Since he brought it up,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, “Cuomo’s incompetence in dealing with rising violent crime is as bad as how he botched the coronavirus outbreak by putting COVID-19 patients in nursing homes. Trying to fix blame on gun manufacturers and their perfectly legal products when the fault is with his own policies and his party’s soft-on-criminals agenda is simply pitiful, and I don’t think his broadcaster brother is going to be able to talk him out of this mess.”

The Democrat governor announced plans to use $138.7 million in an effort to prevent crime and create employment programs for “at-risk” youth, with 21,000 summer jobs through local, city and state agencies. But Gottlieb said Empire State residents should be wary of any efforts that “just throw money” at crime problems rather than focusing on making offenders accountable for their criminal behavior.

“Signing legislation that essentially encourages municipal governments to file junk lawsuits against the firearms industry actually runs counter to existing federal law, and Cuomo knows it,” Gottlieb observed. “The governor must think public attention will be diverted by legal dramatics so his inability or unwillingness to take meaningful action against violent criminals will melt back into the shadows. We’re not going to let that happen.

“As governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo has been a train wreck with mass casualties,” Gottlieb said, “and his emergency declaration is an intellectually dishonest maneuver to convince voters none of this was his fault. But he’s the man in charge, he’s been in charge and he’s got to take ownership of this disaster.”

With more than 650,000 members and supporters nationwide, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (www.ccrkba.org) is one of the nation’s premier gun rights organizations. As a non-profit organization, the Citizens Committee is dedicated to preserving firearms freedoms through active lobbying of elected officials and facilitating grass-roots organization of gun rights activists in local communities throughout the United States.

  1. I read this interesting comment on another site earlier, but it’s worthy of mention…

Now that Cuomo has formally declared guns to be a “public nuisance”, would that mean the NYPD can now be sued for having the largest stockpile and therefore posing the largest danger to the public?

    • “would that mean the NYPD can now be sued for having the largest stockpile”

no. the target isn’t guns. the target is certain people – anyone not under their direct and personal control.

  2. Maybe he can put them all in nursing homes. Didn’t that solve the last crisis?

  3. C”Mon cuomo man…You democRat ratbassturds made a bunch of trinket promises in the sixties and convinced Jim Crow Gun Control beat down gullible Black Americans to join your democRat Party. Out went content of character and in went nothing but pure demoCrap.

And now your lowlife granny murdering democRat butt wants to blame Guns. Well I blame you and your democRat Party ilk for it all. Instead of using Blacks to pick cotton you ratbassturds have used Black Americans for nothing more than to harvest votes.

You and your dirtbag democRat Party ilk reduced Black Americans down to that level of voting for the party of their slave masters. With that said you expect people so dumbed down to handle firearms responsibly?

C’Mon Man and cease pointing fingers at guns and make Monetary Reparations for the Content of Character that you and your ilk have clearly stolen from so many Black Americans.

    • “make Monetary Reparations for the Content of Character that you and your ilk have clearly stolen from so many Black Americans”

character can’t be stolen, only revealed.

    • Hate to tell you this DebbieW, there ain’t gonna be no reparations. Squawk and holler all you want.

      • Those who never were slaves want “reparations” from those who never owned slaves.

Perhaps they should start with the families and descendants of plantation owners. But they may be among the Democrats’ elite.

  4. Cuomo argued that “more people are dying of gun violence than of COVID.”

But not for lack of trying. Right, Gov. Soprano?

  5. “Cuomo’s ‘Gun Violence Disaster Emergency’ Meant to Distract From His Incompetence”

he’s not incompetent. he’s hostile, and having a great time at it.

  6. The emergency declaration is nothing new for Cuomo–he did the same thing when he passed the SAFE Act, which apparently has not had its intended effect, so he is merely doubling down. On top of that, his passing the buck is simply more “true to form.” He has done it with every other crisis during his administration, from Covid to people fleeing the State, to guns and crime, to accusations of sexual harassment. His answer is always the same: “Not me. I didn’t do it.” So I do not really see this new declaration as deflection, just more of the same failed policies he has pursued for years. He is another dyed in the wool gun banner, just like Sen. DiFi and Governor Noisome. You will never persuade any of them that there attempts to ban gun will have no effect whatsoever on human nature or the crime rate.

    • “Emergency” was invoked for the SAFE Act specifically to shove it through quickly and avoid the public review period called for in the state constitution. Possible the same trick is being used here, and the only emergency is that if the public is allowed to weigh in, they might persuade their so-called representatives to vote against it?

  7. Yeah, it’ll fool the dumbest voters. But hopefully there are still enough folks who still love their city!!

    • It will be especially fun if the summer employment for “at risk youth” follows the typical model of employing the children of donors and local democratic politicians and the management/administrative positions for the program end up being appointed/noncompetitive (does not need to go through any testing or meritocratic selection process such as we have) for various higher level supporters (business, media, bigger donors that want medical insurance etc). Glad I will not be anywhere near this pending dumpster fire professionally but typical annoyance at the waste of resources.

  8. Governor Nipple-rings is responsible for more unnecessary elderly covid deaths than all deaths by gunshot in the entire country over the past year. At least!

  9. Cumho , hes to old with to many responsibilities. Every picture I see of him he looks like hes at a loss what to do.

    • Don’t worry, there are well indoctrinated operatives nearby to tell him what to do.

Any democrat (communist party USA) at that level has a political officer who will make sure everything said or done complies with party doctrine.

    • the first time i saw kumho tires they were on my boss’ ex- wife’s car.
we both got a belly laugh out of that.
