As someone who lived in the UK for more than a decade, I can assure you that the Oxbridge establishment hates the United States with a passion undimmed. They view Americans’ as idiots. Boors. Cowboys. Make no mistake: the rest of the Eurozone shares the Brits’ antipathy to all things American. The ultimate example of the U.S. inferiority? Our individual right to keep and bear arms. Who cares? Our Oxbridge equivalent: American statists “educated” in our top colleges and universities. Anyone else?

    • Actually, it is quite the opposite: they love our rights.

The reason that foreigners express/direct so much “disapproval” toward U.S. citizens is because the foreigners are jealous of what we have that they cannot have. The foreigners want to spoil our fun as “revenge” for not having a life as good as we have.

    • The same twats who are against our civil rights are the ones voting to stay in the EU this week. The other side is more open to the idea of natural rights, and hopefully they can win the vote to get out of the EU (assuming Parliament actually cares how they vote and doesn’t just decide to stay anyway, or re-vote until the citizens vote to stay like they did in Ireland).

  1. Russia Times/UK obviously cares.

Al Jazeera does or did, but as I recall they are broke or are soon to be.

  2. He is a terrible person, assuming awfulness is hereditary it’s no wonder his niece kills earthworms. He shouldn’t have access to a video camera.

    • He’s also wrong about the problem being solved. So the knife drawer is locked, his neice is still a homicidal maniac. If she can’t get to any knives, she’ll just switch to pencils or some such – her desires and intent are still intact.

But also, he’s also just a comedian doing a bit.

  3. Machine gun ???
    350 mass shootings in a year – roughly one a day ???
(I need to maybe watch the US news more)

I do agree with the way the US media sensationalizes everything – to their favor (and the Liberals/Democrats)
Think he took a dig at Hitlary without even knowing it – Saudi comment.

    • Yea, what a self absorbed asshole. Machineguns? Then this jerk actually goes on to say, and this is a quote:

“…we can report this and still leave these people
with some dignity and and and facts go out the window
ok if we don’t we’re not interested in fact”

He actually used the word fact in this middle of this prozac infused rant.

Whatever dude, just keep yourself on that side of the pond and I will be happy.

    • It’s a conflated statistic. Drive by shootings in ghettos, gang violence, gun deals gone bad, anything where 4 or more people are shot is called a “mass” shooting by the FBI, which gullible people are happy to pick up on, imagining that all of them are spree shootings. Our media is only to happy to feed the ignorance.

      • Not the FBI. FBI requires 4 dead. ShootingTracker counts anything where 4 people receive injuries, including pellet gun shots.

        • The so-called “Shooting Tracker” counts literally everything it can find — even when there’s only one shooter, nobody else was even around them, and nobody got hurt.

  4. I can’t stomach those Chamberlain appeasement liberals and their holier-than-thou sniping. Their guttural accent is as repulsive as their cowardice. It only serves to underscore that they will soon be on their knees worshipping allah! Remember, the Nazis were wiping them out in WWII until we stepped in. Lets see how long it takes for the muzzies to go ‘third world’ on them. No guns eh? I’m gonna say it won’t be long before they’ll all be wearing their laundry on their heads.

    • The muslims will not take over europe. Before he allows that Putin will ‘rescue” the europeans from the muslims.

Course, then they’re stuck with Putin.

      • At some point soon, Europe will be better off under Putin’s thumb. I certainly wouldn’t care; the Russians are far less of a threat to Western civilization than haji is.

    • Chamberlain had no choice but to be an appeaser. Had France and Britain gone to war with Germany at the time of the Munich Agreement , they would both have been defeated in six weeks. Liberal pacifists had so gutted the militaries of France and Britain that they could not fight a war and Chamberlain knew it. By September 1939, the French still couldn’t.

US liberal-progressives of today act surprisingly like their French counterparts of the 1920’s & 1930’s.

  5. The rest of the hates us. That’s fine with me. Let them fear our 300 million guns and not try to take what isn’t theirs.

  6. The brits are an emasculated people. It’s not funny to micro agress them because they have no “agency.”

  7. We kicked Britt ass twice so we don’t have to care

Then we saved their bacon with lots of guns and bombs and lives. And they continue to think they matter.

    Ha.

  8. I don’t give a flying goat f*ck what most Americans think… Let alone people from other countries.

Don’t confuse being thoughtful with being nosey.

  9. After the Orlando shooting far too many Canadian news outlets and lefties spew off about US gun laws, then claim our laws aren’t strict enough also. My retort is why do you have any say in the sovereign affairs of another nation. Then I ask them of they have ever been to the States. Most reply yes. Then I inform them likely there’s been CCW carriers near them. To which the have no reply. Then I ask them if they’ll stop taking their kids to Disney which they of course won’t. I then explain that Americans didn’t gradually fade away from the British Empire but rather you kicked their British asses out. Which is why your culture is different than commonwealth nations. (Canada/ Austrarlia, New Zealand). You are not servants to a crown. Good on you USA for having such freedoms. But in general left wing “progressives” exist all over this world, they think they know what’s best for you. This is one Canuck you won’t see complaining about Your freedoms. And there are lots of us, it just doesn’t get portrayed in the media.

    • Then I ask them if they’ll stop taking their kids to Disney which they of course won’t.
The alligators would be disappointed if the children did not show up.
      Think of the children….

  10. I’d have to put forth considerable effort to care any less about what anyone in the U.K., Europe, or Canada for that matter thinks of America and it’s gun laws.

  11. All your childhood people tell you “don’t worry about what the other kids think” then you hit adulthood and from advertising to politics it’s nothing but “don’t you care what other people think?!?!

  12. If they liked us they’d all want to come here, so let’s keep up the good work and our gun safes stacked full.

  13. Not all Brits feel the same way. When 9/11 was upon us the first folks I heard from were my Scotland Yard (Metropolitan Police) colleagues in London pledging their support.

Sure, there are wankers here, there and everywhere who do not support our rights and point of view but that doesn’t mean they speak for all. Just sayin’.

    • So, why do those “wanker” douche-bags always seem to able to find a video camera to verbally toss-off into???

    • Good to know that not all Brits are of the Piers Morgan mindset.

That’s one thing. What gripes me is not what foreigners think of us, but how our liberal ruling class agonizes over what foreigners think (“The world is laughing at our appalling gun anarchy!!”)

As for foreigners’ opinion about Americans & guns, “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.”

And when I say “foreigners”, why do I always picture Swedes?

      • Former Brit gun owners are quite unhappy that they were deceived by their own government. Criminals are using guns in the UK and Australia according to law enforcement.

Odd that a lot of our rights originated in 1216 under King John. Magna Carta Libertatum (Latin for “the Great Charter of the Liberties”), commonly called Magna Carta (“the Great Charter”), is a charter agreed to by King John of England at Runnymede, near Windsor, on 15 June 1215.[a] First drafted by the Archbishop of Canterbury to make peace between the unpopular King and a group of rebel barons, it promised the protection of church rights, protection for the barons from illegal imprisonment, access to swift justice, and limitations on feudal payments to the Crown, to be implemented through a council of 25 barons. Neither side stood behind their commitments, and the charter was annulled by Pope Innocent III, leading to the First Barons’ War. After John’s death, the regency government of his young son, Henry III, reissued the document in 1216, stripped of some of its more radical content, in an unsuccessful bid to build political support for their cause. At the end of the war in 1217, it formed part of the peace treaty agreed at Lambeth, where the document acquired the name Magna Carta, to distinguish it from the smaller Charter of the Forest which was issued at the same time. Short of funds, Henry reissued the charter again in 1225 in exchange for a grant of new taxes; his son, Edward I, repeated the exercise in 1297, this time confirming it as part of England’s statute law.

Apparently, this guy, and those who think like him, do not like the UK, or they are ashamed that they didn’t fight for their rights and lost them over time. Our rights are supposed to be guaranteed. Their rights are dispensed as the government sees fit… and obviously, the government has long shown a lack of trust of it’s own citizens to handle their rights.

  14. Freaking Brits hate our ability to carry illegally in California and deal antiques to our heart’s content. Screw ’em.

  15. Listening to foreign opinions regarding our bill of rights is much more infuriating than listening to the laments of our own liberal countrymen. ESAD. Enjoy your refugees.

  16. Arm the illegal (and legal) aliens with a copy of the US Constitution and an AR (or Sig) and SEND THEM BACK WHERE THEY CAN FROM.

If they have been allowed in the US for 5min they have received a gift without measure from our citizens. Take what you learned and go fix YOUR cesspool. And stay there.

    • I may have commented on this already some time ago, but I’ll repeat it now:

South Korea has approximately 500,000 M1 Garand rifles left over from the Korean War that the U.S. will not allowed to be returned for fear Americans will buy them. We need to donate these rifles to the European countries being invaded by the Mohammadans. For each family that arrives seeking asylum the host country should say to all of the militia-aged men, “We will accept and care for your family if you will take this rifle and ammunition and return to your home country to fight for its freedom.”

  17. Make no mistake: the rest of the Eurozone shares the Brits’ antipathy to all things American.
Make no mistake: Many of my ancestors viewed the Eurozone as a defacto bunch of Nazis. Europe can enjoy their pet Muzrats.

  18. To quote Don Draper, “I don’t think about you at all.”
Let them defend their country with their military and let their citizens rely on their government for personal protection. Oh you guys need air support and boots on the ground? It’s gonna cost ya. Can’t afford it? You can start by allowing your citizens to keep and bear arms. Oh wait.

  19. This guy will be either dead or applying for asylum in a few years. U.S. gays will probably lobby against him being given asylum using this video as proof that he was a Quisling.

  20. I’m very concerned about what the rest of the world thinks about our gun rights. Very. Because when the rest of the world approves of what we’re doing, then and only then will we truly know how badly we are fvcked.

    • A few data points about the British.

      They have small washing machines.

Due to right hand drive and appoaching the on the sidewalk, they always walk into you.

Our parking lots combined are larger than their entire country.

They stand by, watch and record Jihadi’s murder their citizens.

Next war…don’t bother calling, your on your own.

      • Well, there won’t be another war since the Euros seem to be done with trying to wipe each other out. It’s about time.

The next European cataclysm will occur if and when their Arabic-speaking “guests” take over the streets, violently. Since that will be an internal problem, of course we will keep out of it. Right?

Here’s the real question: Why is it that most northern Euros look so well-scrubbed and well-groomed while so many Brits look like they need a bath and a shampoo? You know, like John Kasich.

That is the kind of question that keeps me up at night.

  21. MEH-just another British eunuch. WW2 yeah-we had no business bailing the brits outa’ The Great War. THAT was a yuge waste of American blood and treasure…oh wait then there never would have been a hitler.

  22. Gotta love all these (western) Europeans shit talking our way of life and our RKBA while their new “diverse” populace is eradicating their own way of life.

When the Muslims in all those countries decide to go for broke and take over by force (and they absolutely will) all their snide, condescending insults won’t save them from being beheaded or their women from being raped to death. In that moment they’ll wish, no, pray they had the rights we enjoy; the right to own a gun and defend you and yours.

So talk down to us all you want Euros, in the very near future you’re going to find out why we Americans hold on to our guns like we do. And this time we’re not bailing your asses out.

  23. The victims of EO9066 did.

We need to get NFA repeal on the table at the very least to force idiots to realize they’re already banned.

  24. The rest of the world? I see the rest of the world as dwelling in the darkness of servitude, with virtual and actual slavery. This is reflected in the disarmament of over six billion people by their respective governments, usually with their full agreement.

Most of these people have embraced their enslavement as right and just. This is why I believe that in actual fact, the vast majority of people in the world actually desire to be enslaved. That freedom is an idea that terrifies most human beings, and will bow as quickly as possible to the first homicidal psychopath that gives to them the choice of submit, or die, and will bow at the foot of their master, with a joyful release of all responsibility for their own lives.

The only time that the natural desire to be enslaved is confronted is when their slave master becomes too brutal, then they will rebel, usually replacing the former brutal dictator with an even more brutal tyrant.

We’ve had a brief time, historically, of some of the greatest freedom for the greatest number ever dreamed of by those few that truly have desired to be free. Which the progressive/statist’s are doing their best to bring to an end.

We will find out, I believe in our life time, if that original vision of freedom for all, at least for those in this country, can be reborn, or if the last best hope for a truly free people will go the way of the Dodo bird.

  25. Don’t like our guns? Fine. Next time your dump of an island is nearly overrun by invaders, we’ll make sure keep them to ourselves.

I think the people that proclaim their opinions like this, no matter the topic, in such a juvenile manner, are some of the people of the lowest morals and intelligence.

    • That’s a good one. There’s always this too:

“I was having dinner…in London…when eventually he got, as the Europeans always do, to the part about “Your country’s never been invaded.” And so I said, “Let me tell you who those bad guys are. They’re us. WE BE BAD. We’re the baddest-assed sons of bitches that ever jogged in Reeboks. We’re three-quarters grizzly bear and two-thirds car wreck and descended from a stock market crash on our mother’s side. You take your Germany, France, and Spain, roll them all together and it wouldn’t give us room to park our cars. We’re the big boys, Jack, the original, giant, economy-sized, new and improved butt kickers of all time. When we snort coke in Houston, people lose their hats in Cap d’Antibes. And we’ve got an American Express card credit limit higher than your piss-ant metric numbers go. You say our country’s never been invaded? You’re right, little buddy. Because I’d like to see the needle-dicked foreigners who’d have the guts to try. We drink napalm to get our hearts started in the morning. A rape and a mugging is our way of saying ‘Cheerio.’ Hell can’t hold our sock-hops.
We walk taller, talk louder, spit further, fuck longer and buy more things than you know the names of. I’d rather be a junkie in a New York City jail than king, queen, and jack of all Europeans. We eat little countries like this for breakfast and shit them out before lunch.”

      ― P.J. O’Rourke, Holidays in Hell

      • Actually in the War of 1812, the US was invaded by the Brits and we really did not do very well. Some of the US was occupied and held by the Brits in the War of 1812.

        • Yeah, they even burned the original white house to the ground. We got our asses kicked in the first half of the war, but we turned it around and booted them out. Again.

        • The real thrust of this rebuttal isn’t technical accuracy.

          Anyway, I didn’t write it. 🙂

  26. My experiences abroad differ somewhat from those of the author; who does or doesn’t like us depends to a large part on past interactions between our two nations, rather than whether or not we or they carry guns.

Also, I imagine the Oxbridge establishment knows how to correctly use apostrophes.

Stating that Europe this or that is like stating that the US this or that; the culture in one part of Europr might be radically different to that in another part.

Just think of a black man and a white woman walking down the street holding hands – or two guys kissing, for that matter – in rural Alanama and then think of the same people in New Jersey, Missouri, or Washington State; we are not an homogeneous culture.

This is true of gun rights as well; some European nations are considerably more liberal than are we at our best – Kansas, say, or Vermont – with respect to firearms.

Sounds like this guy rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, and then took umbrage at their having the temerity to be wrongly rubbed.

I will say that when American media and many people started denigrating France when they wouldn’t jump into out dirty little oil war back in ’03 we certainly didn’t make any friends over there.

However, by and large we are liked by most peoples whom we have not attempted to bomb and shoot into “freedom.”

  27. One more time for the not so bright of the UK: We kicked you to the curb 240 years ago because we didn’t care for your attempts at gun control during the powder raids and did so again in 1812. Why would we give a rats as what you think of our Constitution and it’s Amendments?

  28. I’m from Europe and I do believe the US constitution, Bill of Rights and of course the Second Amendment are the best things the USA could have… and actually what is really missing in Europe.

    • Unfortunately, we in the US are rapidly moving backwards towards the right of kings. Our government is seen by many people now to have all rights and as the proper allocator of privilege. This is the very thing we fought a revolution against and our own people have once again embraced this evil through public education indoctrination and media subversion. I would argue that the average American hasn’t a clue of what it really means to be free. The cowardly sheep are terrified of being free and responsible for their own selves. Our political leaders are received like royalty when they visit locations in the United States. They have armed guards and extra laws to protect them while exempting themselves from other laws. It is an obscene perversion of the ideals and sacrifices of the American Revolution. Thomas Jefferson was spot-on.

      • Experiencing from first hand what it means to live with privileges instead of rights… I seriously hope all recent events will shake up some Americans to fight to preserve your rights. I sincerely believe the US could be the very last rampart when it comes down to rights to resist to tyranny and oppression, notably because of the First and Second Amendment. At this moment, both are under attack by the most dangerous people on earth (obviously I mean terrorists… both from Middle East and the White House). If you let them take over your rights, the world is gonna be bloody…

        • I agree with you and share the same hope, however pessimistic I have become. I believe that the American Revolution resulted in a beacon of Liberty and prosperity unto the world. Sadly, that beacon has dimmed over the years and once it is snuffed out, I believe a global Dark Age will descend. Will Humanity ever emerge again from the dark?

Much like the fall of Rome, I believe we are seeing the fall of America. To me, the parallels are striking. There is nothing new under the Sun.

  29. Despite what the news may say, alot of people are waking up to the fact that they have to fight back.
In their homes, communities and heaven help us as a nation.
    People are changing mind sets.

  30. Once again, I’ve got to object. I’m a Czech and while we do have our share of people who dislike the US, we’re proud that our gun laws are better than in many places in USA. Majority of Czechs consider EU attempts to increase gun control measures crazy, stupid and subversive.

So no, not all Europeans are as antigun as the Brits.

  31. Interestingly, he begins by shaming his niece’s frank sociopathic behavior and ends asking how to change a mindset that shames an intrinsic feeling in an individual. So, I shouldn’t shame him for being a complete prat?

  32. It always fascinates me how upset these non-American get about American gun laws. They have their own country. But inn the UK, Australia, etc…they get enraged that America won’t ban guns.

  33. “If people can’t control their own emotions, then they have to start to control other people’s behavior.” – Robin Skynner

  34. When the bar of American’s rights is lowered so is the bar for the rest of the world.

    • This is 100% true. As bad as our gun rights get up here in Canada, being near the states helped inoculate us against some of the really bad rules. We could have got Australian or UK gun laws. Thank-you for staying in the fight.

      • Yesterday a Progressive ‘informed’ me that an AR-15 is illegal in Canada.

I then educated him about the National Firearms Act of 1934 and how that made machine guns, silencers, short-barrel shotguns, etc. illegal without heavy-duty paperwork.

I then smiled and told him that short-barrel shotguns were 100 percent legal over-the-counter in Canada, and that silencers, for the most part, are treated the same way in Europe…

        • Next time you meet said progressive, tell him you are willing to compromise and adopt some Canadian laws/rules. Just don’t tell him that they are: allowing guns to be mailed right to your door, no “sporting purpose” test for Chinese imports, and nation-wide open carry of long guns.

I hope that your NFA laws change soon as well- there will be more variety in SBS as a result, and they’re good backpacking guns. Some of the 14 inch Turkish-made ones even come with screw-in chokes.

  35. It’s not even worth an FU.

We’re not a failed experiment. Unlike our failed leader who’s attempting to both take credit for it (“you diidn’t build that) to saying it doesn’t work (“if you like your plan you can keep your plan”).

FTW Un de goat a_ _.

We can’t wait for brexit to show europe how many guns it hasn’t gotten rid of.

  36. Ok – so some issues with his argument. The American people are not small little girls with forks. You can take a fork from a girl – that’s fine and may put an end to her activity. However, I’m not a little girl. I can make a simple SMG in the garage. Many of us make our own ammunition. We are not helpless little girls. Those with a need of firearms will be able to obtain them and even make them.

  37. Personally I don’t give a crap what a European thinks about Our Bill of Rights. Or Constitution.
Except I hope they are jealous as hell and wish they had some ballz for themselves.

  38. I don’t care about the Eurozone, I have a middling interest in Brexit (GTFO, UK!) but I don’t vacillate on Youtube about it. If the want to stay in, fine by me. If not, cool.

I expect the same courtesy in return from our English cousins.

  39. I am probably more tired of the cherry picked developed nations being used as a yardstick of how we should be.

  40. According to the US government there are 253 million vehicles on the road in America and the number of vehicle related deaths for 2012 was 33,561 or 0.00013%. It is believed that there are 270 million civilian firearms in America and the number of deaths related to firearms in 2012 was 8,897 or 0.00003%

Therefore cars are more than 4 times as dangerous as civilian firearms.

  41. As a naturalized citizen I think I am in a position to explain why other nations view America’s love of guns and the 2nd Amendment as bizarre.

No other nation enshrines the right and duty of a citizen to observe and deter their government. All other governments are designed to oversee its subjects. What those subjects believe to be rights are basically privileges bestowed upon them at the whim of the government.

Many believe that their rights are inviolable and that their government will never trample over them. That these privileges make them civilize. That any “right” not subject to control by the government is barbaric or asinine. This is the way I thought until I came to America read the constitution and the works associated with it.

Here in America we are expected to what our government, to voice our opinion and make informed decisions on who we elect to represent us. We are supposed to be the masters of our government and not its subject. It is a radical way of thinking when before you simply obeyed the government because they must know better, after all they are the government.

Even after our founding fathers created a government that was balanced with three distinct branches with their own areas of responsibility, placed elected officials always within arms reach of the citizen and divided the power between the states and the people, they still enshrined a list of rights for us.

Chief among them was the freedom of speech, expression and religion so we could speak without being stifled by the government. Then they defined the power in which we could ensure that fundamental right by ensuring our right to bear arms for protection of our lives and our liberty. No other nation gives the people the responsibility and the power to resist a tyranny.

It is unique in the world and barely comprehensible to anyone who does not know and understand how and why the constitution was written in the way it is.

    • Outstanding post! Thank you for writing it. Spot on.

I would say that all people, anywhere, have a responsibility to watch their government and resist tyranny, but they just don’t all realize it. Even here in America, I think many don’t realize or believe it either. Just look at how people in mainstream media mocked the notion of the People keeping tyranny at bay through force of arms. Come to think of it, I’ve heard and read some gun owners, here and there, mock it as well. I firmly believe that the individual right to keep and bear arms is what has kept America from even more tyranny. If we were all disarmed decades ago, I believe our government would have already rolled completely over us.

  42. Didn’t even watch the video. I could give 2 sh1ts about what the rest of the world thinks about the 2nd Amendment or the U.S. Constitution. We have a GOD given right to freedom and to self-defense. So sorry their countries suck and that they are too weak to fight for what is right.

  43. What should Americans expect? When your entire continent (and island cluster) is rescued twice in 23 years by a young, upstart nation of descendants of beggars, debtors, criminals, religious zealots and scruffy ne’er do wells, you get a little testy and resentful. Losers never love winners.

Of course, that was long ago, once upon a time.

Europe (and everywhere else) get over it ! The US is becoming a used-to-be empire. Wait for it. You soon won’t be able to pick us out of a crowd.

    • Obama, Hillary, and the rest of the criminal Democratic party is doing all they can to destroy America. Betrayal is second nature to them.

  44. The English of the island thought Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, Franklin, Adams to be ill-educated country bumpikins; colonials with no class and no potential for serious consideration among the capitals of the world.

    Yes….who cares what Europe thinks?

  45. Just a reminder in 1814 Andrew Jackson beat the British general that beat Napoleon at Waterloo. It still stands as the most lopsided victories in U.S. military history. The battle for Texas against Mexico does not count since Texas was a sovereign country at the time. Good job Texas.

  46. Fun fact… When France fell in WWII (yeah, that inconvenient thing again) Brits had so few guns to defend themselves for what was seen as the imminent land invasion that we- the American citizen -donated ours with no expectation to ever see their return. And we didn’t, because the British government promptly melted them down after the war with zero lessons learned.
