Everyday Carry Pocket Dump of the Day: Tyler

1. These posts often leave me wondering just how many pockets these guys have.

   And I’m familiar with rule #9 “Always carry a knife”, but four different blades?

   • I always think the same thing, what’s with all of the knifes?

   • He might have a small backpack. I carry a Patagonia Stealth Atom wherever I go. It’s EDC without being a tacticool attention-getter. Highly recommended.

   • Because five would be ostentatious.

2. Three knives (five if you count the Leatherman blades) and two flashlights (three if you want to use the lighter for illumination).

   What, no pocket watch? Second wristwatch for the other arm?

   • Four lights if you count the flashlight on the phone

3. Two is one and one is none, indeed.

   I’m sure this guy has a BUG, but didn’t include it since he doesn’t carry it every single day.

4. An iPad? Everyday? That’s hardcore. Or something.

7. If this were a meme:

   “EDC pocket dump pictures – because normal people walk around with 3 knives, two flashlights, a multi tool, a Zippo, a pen and notepad bigger than any normal sized pocket I have ever seen, and enough keys to launch a nuclear missile”

   Sorry (not really), but it’s hard to take some of these seriously.

   Also why is there an empty phone case in the picture? You carry around enough shit that most people would require a backpack to carry with double and triple redundancies for some stuff and yet you had to steal your phone to take the picture? Amateur!

8. Did Jeff Cooper have a rule about a “field notes” pad or something? Where are these coming from and why don’t I have one.

     • I actually meant “why are these showing up so often?” Is it like when kids all decided that keys needed to be connected to them with cord/strap thingies?

       • Moleskin started opening up little airport stores and more display racks and the product looks so damned neat and tidy you can just picture yourself jotting down important things and poetry

         This guy appears to have spent too much on knives and got a knockoff notebook

   • I’m not sure if it’s a pure “tactic00l” element or an artifact from people who actually still have to carry notepads (cops).

9. I have thirtyfive cents and a key in my pockets right now.

    • Agreed. I’m inspired to completely underachieve . . . maybe tomorrow.

      • I tried but my phone is so crappy that I had a friend take the picture… then my web-fu was so crappy that I couldn’t get the picture loaded onto the EDC website in a size they would accept… then my attitude was so crappy that I gave up. Y’all are missing out too: Hello Kitty duct-tape change purse, purple Spyderco knife, aforementioned crappy phone, and all the other junk I really do carry every day. Dan Zimmerman has, or had, the picture in his inbox but sent me to the EDC site to keep everything on the up and up… or something, I guess.

11. Sometime I almost have the urge to call BS on these. But I guess it can be done. Maybe it depends how often you are walking around vs sitting down or traveling just here and there.

    Field notes, again? What is the deal with the fields notes – it boggles the mind.

    Is that the new trendy thing, or something?

    • There’s pretty much one waterproof notepad you can always reliably get and that’s it.

21. Nice. Lots of blades!

22. My IPhone has “Notes” built-in & if I hit the mic icon I don’t even have to type. It also replaces the flashlight, compass, deck of cards, newspaper, library, WIFI scanner, topology maps & a full set of encyclopedias. (Whew!)

    • How much good will that do you if you end up taking an unscheduled swim?

      • It takes about 6 second to upload to the “cloud” and can be retrieved at any computer, so if I take a swim it’s still available.
