Godfrey’s a leatherneck and more grateful for his service we could not be. It’s also good to see that he carries one of our favorite EDC guns (when not on duty, we assume). As for the rest of his usual compliment of gear, you can check out the details at Everyday Carry. Ooh rah.
I never get the purpose of carrying a coin of any kind that’s not actually money.
As far as I can figure they are part of an elaborate drinking game. /sarc

I am aware of the drinking game, It’s just when I was in the Marines, if you actually pulled a challenge coin you were super boot, and instantly laughed at and you were never respected. Peacetime Marine Corps I guess
The coin looks awfully good to be EDC. I’d suspect it is for the photo.
This reply is meant for Steve, but there’s no option to reply directly…
I think that’s a USMC themed shadow box that Gunny Godfrey opted to stage his gear in for the photo, and the coin is actually attached to the box. Probably for displaying commendation ribbons, medals and what-not.
USMC Privates and PFC’s used to buy the “If it absolutely, positively needs to be destroyed overnight…” T-shirts from the PX. Those of us who’d been in longer than a year used to call them the “If you absolutely, positively never want to get laid” T-shirt.
I’ve got a bunch of challenge coins, but I’ve never once slammed one down on a bar table. That’d be like having a case of the “Mondays.” I do believe you’d get your a$$ kicked for something like that.
The box theory seems legit.
thats hoo not ooh

Sure beats the whiny Army wooah woo woo they do.
Is that Glock colored white? Is it lime green? I can’t figure out if my display settings are washing out the color….
