A few things to keep in mind. Americans’ right to keep and bear arms does not depend on popular support per se. It is protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution. If gun control advocates want to spike the 2A there’s an app for that. Second, the Gallup poll finding that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of President Obama’s job on gun policies doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t support those policies (i.e. some of them do). A percentage of those respondents feel the President isn’t doing enough about guns. And third, the majority of Americans don’t have a clue what Mr. Obama’s gun policy is. I’d be willing to bet breakfast with Johanna Lundbäck the average Joe just knows he’s a gun grabber and they don’t want their guns grabbed. Well . . .

Fair enough. If the fight to defend and extend Americans’ Constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms comes down to a battle of vague impressions and gun rights win, what’s the problem there?

No wonder all the President’s men and all the statist state reps are waving the bloody shirt like a checkered flag at the Indy 500, rushing to enact post-Newtown civilian disarmament legislation. Forty-two percent support of the President’s performance on guns—and we’re not talking about his skeet score—puts the grabbers on the wrong side of the democratic process as well as the Constitution.

I hope.

  1. If a single one of those empty uniforms behind him had any guts they’d arrest him right then and there.

      • Obama got 51.1% of the popular vote. That’s not an “everyone in Congress should make haste to implement his policy ideas for fear of being thrown out of office” percentage.

It’s also down from the 52.9% he got in 2008.

There are plenty of votes to be earned by opposing Obama’s agenda, we just need to make sure the R’s know it.

  2. Okay, 54% disagree with the Dear Leader. Any graduate of America’s public school system would have to ask: what about the other 48%?

  3. They ignored the last Gallup poll that disagreed with their assertions, why would this one be any different (while claiming all the while, a second poll agreed with the Pew poll, which it didn’t)?

  4. I think most americans dont buy Obama’s 90 re-barf of antigun crap. I think we are getting the message out. Keep fighting my fellow 2A supporter we can beat this PIG at PR.

  5. It is a pretty meaningless poll and it does not say much the way it is worded. I probably confused a lot of people who where polled.

I am surprised the number did not come in closer to 100% disapproval.
50% saying they not happy because Obama is not doing enough to restrict guns.
50% saying they are not happy because Obama is trying to restrict guns.

It is just a poorly worded poll.

    • I completely agree with you! I’m shocked that the number isn’t higher, as there is a large number of people dissatisfied on both sides. People who want tight gun control will be upset with how little he ends up doing, while people who want no gun control will be upset that he did anything!

  6. So what you are telling us is that this 54% number doesn’t mean anything, because it doesn’t tell us who for and who is against, the more relevant question I would think. The MSM is trying to convince me thsat the VAST MAJORITY of Americans back more gun control, which may be true here in California (sadly) but I’d like to see some nubers on that. What I REALLY can’t figure out is why people keep backing these AWB bans even though the “Boss” and his flunky tell us they will have no effect on gun crime or gun violence. And universal background checks aren’t going to do a whole heck of a lot of good either if, as has been the case since its inception, states don’t bother reporting data to NICS. (Case in point is California, which requires a background check for all transactions except black powder guns).

  7. Your first few sentences are spot on…I wish more people realized that the Constitution and Bill of Rights are there to protect the minority from the majority.

  8. Some far more meaningful statistics are available than Gallup polls

The FBI Crime Report (Table 20 – Weapons) for 2011 shows that about 2 ¼ times more murders were committed by “hands and feet” than by “rifles”.

Limiting the definition of “rifles” to so-called “assault rifles” (a misnomer) would increase the ratio still further.

We are being told that we need a return of the senseless AWB because . . .?

  9. Crap, Commandante Zero was elected because most Americans were too lazy to vote this cretin out of office. They stayed quiet in the presence of evil. The givemes and perverts turned out to vote for their man.

The people always get the government they deserve. America deserves Obama.
