Unboxing a gun safe. It doesn’t get any more exciting than that. Well, not this morning. Not for me. Call me a security theater lovvie, but I can’t wait to put the battery in the 9G INPRINT Safe and give the box a try. When I do, you’ll be the first to know. For the moment, I’d like to point out that 9G passes the initial packaging test. Like Springfield’s XD(m)s’ case, unlike Glock’s boxes, the 9G INPRINT safe creates a positive ownership experience from the git-go. Second impression: it’s a big old thing. But if this chunky monkey opens quickly and reliably with a simple finger swipe, my GunVault may be vaulted to secondary status . . .
Sharp knife and a leather sofa. What could possible go wrong?
My big question is “how does it compare to the GunVault biometric safes?”
The Inprint is the only MADE IN AMERICA, 3nd generation, active scanning biometric security device on the market. Active scanning is the process of pulling your finger across the reader rather than the old technology of placing your finger on the glass top of a reader.
9g’s INPRINT safe is also the most secure biometric on the market with a low False Acceptance Rate (FAR) of 1/100,000. Our competitors have FAR’s of 1/3,000 to 1/5,000.
The INPRINT is not only the most secure pistol locker on the market, but it is also manufactured and assembled with the highest quality. When you purchase the INPRINT you are not only getting an American made security device that is an industry leader, you are also receiving a device that comes with a one year warranty and is also a “California Approved Firearms Safety Device” leaving no question for physical quality.
In order for a device to become a California Approved Firearms Safety Device, four tests are done. We sent in four devices for testing which include the drop test, drilled out lock test, hack saw test and door pull test. The INPRINT passed every test.
– Does it beep and can that be turned off?
It does not beep so you do not need to worry about turning off the beep… When plugged in with AC a green light will remain on but no beeps.
Is one of the small safes that you can whack with a mallet on the side (even if it’s mounted) and it will open up (undamaged)?
RF,
Can you try this with your new safe?

Absolutely.
I’ve been wanting to buy one of these, but I’ll wait until I read your review.
Skeptical about all electronic safes because of where I live. Most electronic equipment here in Hawaii has a lifespan of 2-4 years because of the high humidity and salt air. Hate to have the lock fail and have to drill to retrieve my firearms. May not be an issue with most folks but how safe are you from electronic failure?
On my bio metric, i made 3 imprints of each index finger thereby giving it more options to choose from. works pretty good. about 9 outta 10 times it opens in a couple seconds. Works best when plugged in to the wall. if the batteries are low it doesn’t throw the latch far enough to open. It is the blue IMPRINT model. about 3 years old.
It is best to do imprints of all your fingers. I have found biometric safes to be iffy at best and not something I would rely on. Sometimes they work perfectly, sometimes they take their sweet time to open. If you fingers are dirty (or covered in blood due to a fight) they won’t open.
For the sake of the rabbi, I will bloody my finger and try it.
