A film coming out this fall that’s flown way under the radar is The American, starring George Clooney. Directed by Anton Corbijn in his first wide release feature, the story centers around an assassin (Clooney) who hides out in Italy for one last assignment.

In receiving a special filmmaking achievement award from the National Board of Reviews, actor George Clooney joked that “Charlton Heston announced again today that he is suffering from Alzheimer’s.”
Clooney still had a chance to apologize for the bad humor day. When questioned about the remark by New York Newsday, Clooney sputtered: “I don’t care. Charlton Heston is the head of the National Rifle Association. He deserves whatever anyone says about him.”
Clearly Clooney was jealous that Planet of the Apes was better than anything he has done to date.
Meh. Clooney has a long history of playing characters who would kick his ass in real life, what's another one?
