Holy assault media, Batman! Despite CNN host Carol Costello’s best efforts to paint Erich Pratt as an “extremist,” the Executive Director of the Gun Owners of America gets in a point we’ve been stressing here for years: gun rights are not subject to the democratic process. They are protected from government infringement by the United States Constitution’s Second Amendment. Period. I would have used the opportunity to expose the way CNN stacked the deck for their “Guns in America” Obamafest — prescreening questions and not allowing follow-ups or anything remotely resembling a “discussion.” But Pratt gets our GHOTD for ably holding his own against the interviewer’s bully boy onslaught. And telling the truth about guns.

  1. Wow! What was her next go-to move… “I know you are, but what am I” or “my dad can beat up your dad.”

  2. Sooner or later she had to give him a chance to reply to her next question. That was the opportunity he rightly seized to reply to the BS she tried to put over as “accepted fact”.

  3. I watch CNN all the time and appreciate it as the only at least somewhat neutral new source, at least some of the time. (this is a low bar).

But Carol Costello is the dumbest person on that network right alongside Wolf Blitzer. Listening to her for more than 10 minutes is like a year’s worth of wine in terms of brain cell death.

    • “the only at least somewhat neutral new source,”

Uh….what? “Neutral,” “new[sic]” and CNN in the same sentence.

Well, that explains a lot regarding an earlier comment you made to an other article…

      Holee Cow.

    • I watch CNN all the time and appreciate it as the only at least somewhat neutral new source, at least some of the time.
I personally read Pravda and watch Russia Today and believe every word. I love the Inspire website as well. Always truthful about Syria and Iraq.

  4. She’s just spewing the propaganda the producers are paid to promote. She’s listening to the guys in the booth, not her interviewee.

  5. “…gun rights are not subject to the democratic process. They are protected from government infringement by the United States Constitution’s Second Amendment. Period.”

This really is all you need to remember when discussing gun rights. There is no discussion. Amend the Constitution or STFU.

Unless and until the majority of supposed “people of the gun” embrace this line of thinking, death by 1000 cuts will continue.

    • Even if the 2nd is amended away, the right will still exist and we’ll still have the guns.

      • ^^^THIS.
We MUST remember – the Constitution does not GIVE us rights, it merely OBSERVES our the naturally occurring rights of all human beings, and PROHIBITS the federal government from infringing upon those rights.

Its spelled out quite clearly in the pre-amble to the Constitution.

      • Only a small fraction of the firearms owned by people in the UK and AUS were surrendered. So now they have approximately the same number of guns as before in their population and a thriving impossible-to-regulate illegal market. Guns are now less controlled.

    • I agree, either get enough people and votes to change or STFU!
Which will never happen on our watch!!
Put an end to the antis drivel!

  6. This is why they have been using the public health fallacy to bypass the Law to attack individual rights. Every time you hear “common sense”, “public good”, “public health”, realize you are being subjected to researched propaganda methods.

  7. Al Jazeera America (Hamas TV) just announced that’s it’s shutting down in April. When I hear something similar from CNN, I will party like it’s 1999.

  8. CNN never let’s facts get in the way of a concocted story.
No logic or intellectual debate ever gets through there, assault media at it’s best or worst i should say.

  9. When she asked him why didn’t he attend to express these views to the President, one thing he could also have added was that he only would have been allowed to ask one pre-screened question and likely not have been able to have a back-and-forth debate.

  10. Another thing I would have pointed out is that a lot of the gun control actions that Americans are more inclined to support are due to lack of understanding of the issue. Polls on assault weapons bans, magazine capacity limitations/bans, universal background checks, etc…are meaningless when asked to average people who know nothing about the issue.

  11. As I just posted with respect to California’s almost certain forthcoming ammunition infringement …

What we really have to change in our nation is the notion that a government law passed with overwhelming public support is always righteous. If that law violates someone’s rights, then it is NOT righteous. Period. It does NOT matter if 90% of the population supports it. It does NOT matter that politicians followed the legal process to pass a law (e.g. claiming they exercised “due process”). It is bogus.

    • If that law violates someone’s rights, then it is NOT righteous.
Gee, i can only dream of all the dumb laws that would be struck down with this correct reasoning.

  12. Well…GOA endorsed TED CRUZ for prez(as well as a boatload of others) -now I have to join. Fluck cnn…

  13. Has it been considered, anything, (hands, feet, sticks, rocks, large dogs) used to ,injure, maim. or kill (assault) is an assault weapon? Reasoning would suggest everything should be banned.
“The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States.” –
    Noah Webster

  14. The point Mr.Pratt neglected to mention is that the Constitution is not subject to Executive orders- nor does Obama have the legal authority to use Executive orders to pass laws- as only “Congress” has the legal and constitutional authority to pass laws in America – Presidents do not !!! – This is why the Founders created a seperation of powers between the Executive,Legislative and Judgicial branches of Government you see….so that no President can act like a Dictator (Like Obama is attempting to do here) He is essentially committing Treason by doing so – because he is very vigorously trying to usurp the Constitution . CNN of course has a long history of being anti-gun and having their heads rammed up the a**es of anti-gun Presidents like Obama and previously Bill Clinton (who should have also been impeached for Treason)

  15. As my granddaddy used to say: “There are only two dangerous weapons in the world. The first is suspended neatly between your ears and the second is positioned neatly between your nose and your chin. Period!” — and I am 84, so this saying cannot be considered “new.”

  16. That shemale wears glasses to appear smart, but the only thing keeping him on the air is horny Wolf.
