I was so confused about Doge coin when it was introduced. I blame Shakespeare. A Doge was an elected lord and head of state in several Italian city-states, notably Venice and Genoa, during the medieval and renaissance periods. So why a Doge coin? It took a while before I understood that Doge was pronounced “doe gee” and then it all made sense. However, given Musk’s involvement, and his history of serious tongue in cheek sarcasm, I thought it was just a joke. (Guess it still is.)
