There’s only one way for gun rights to win the culture war: break the mainstream media blockade. That’s a bit of a problem, obviously. Not only do all the major media conglomerates push civilian disarmament in their editorial coverage, they ban firearm advertising. In short, guns and gun rights are blacklisted. In fact, if Al Gore hadn’t invented the Internet, gun control will still reign supreme. But he did. And here we are, with “new” media chipping away at the anti-gun mainstream blockade. And now, this [via news4jax.com]. . .

A home shopping network for gun sales will soon launch six hours of programming, then expand to 24/7 within a year.

GunTV will be based in California [ED: of all places]. It’s set to launch in January with programming between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m.

GunTV will face more restrictions than other shopping channels like Home Shopping Network or QVC.

Needless to say (although it will have to be said all the time) buyers have to have a gun shipped to their local FFL for the requisite, entirely unconstitutional FBI background check. The channel faces other hurdles, too.

For one thing, Louisiana gun distributor Sports South is the sole supplier. That may not make the channel very popular within the industry. For another, what cable or satellite TV company will carry GunTV? The schedule [below] indicates that the producers have secured the graveyard shift … somewhere. If the service is more-or-less restricted to the Internet, well, good luck with that. No, really. Good luck.

  1. Given that major cable networks are dumping the quality programming of the Sportsman and Outdoor TV channels (http://keepmyoutdoortv.com/) I’m not going to hold my breath. Or stay up till 3a.m. to find the same stuff on the interweb anytime. Excuse me while I go contribute to the Black Friday Gun Sales Record.

  2. Based in California, yet 90% of available firearms are illegal to purchase new in the PRC, and the ones that are are in a special low-capacity or no feature version.
“Welcome to the California hour here on GunTV where we sell nothing but 3rd gen Glocks and S&W revolvers”

  3. Broadcast from CA but the dealer is in Louisiana. The site of the broadcast makes no difference if the guns are shipped to FFLs from Louisiana. I believe the rest of the Free United States can order and have guns shipped that are legal in each buyer’s area. So, there will likely be many more types of guns potentially sold than just those that meet the Socialist State of California’s insane laws.

    • ODELL!!

That video is a classic. I can’t believe the cheap crap they sell on those knife shows at 4AM. 58 pieces for $89.95. White-trash dealers must just resell them at flea markets.

      • Guns get top billing at the monthly “Convention Center Gun & Knife Show” in my town here, but the knives rule, by about a 10-to-1 margin. Just about every booth and table is covered with HORRIBLE knives, all magically marked down by about 90% and still not selling at all. These idiots are at the bottom of a pyramid scheme, I believe.

  4. they say compulsive buying takes place late at night while the customer is half asleep….zzzzzzz..what,what a 30 round magazine….zzzz heres my credit card number …zzzzzzz

  5. Off topic but I’ve been left with the impression that One America News Network is fairly firearms-friendly. During what would be their version of commercial breaks they have discussed the Bill of Rights one amendment at a time and the Second Ammendment segment was pretty positive and didn’t have any ‘but…’ statement.

    • I prefer fact based and “balanced”.

OAN may seem more “gun friendly” because of the landscape of overwhelming biased anti-gun Democrat run MSM major media in which they operate. Even conservative leaning Fox News jumps into the sensationalism fray fairly regularly with their often poor choice of Headlines and reporting verbiage regarding shooting crimes.

With the ceaseless media engineered anti-gun backdrop, OAN would appear to be gun friendly.

    • OAN’s political reporter, Neil W. McCabe, is very pro 2A. He can be heard often daily or weekly on Armed American Radio’s Sunday program or Armed American Radio’s Daily Defense.

  6. Streaming over the Internet is the way to go. More and more TV’s are coming with roku installed. I already get more hunting channels than I can watch that way.

  7. we need to realize WHY they are pushing so much anti-media coverage: because noone is buying it so they feel they have to FORCE it upon us. which obviously isn’t going too well OR they wouldn’t feel the need to constantly attempt to brainwash us. so what we should take away from stuff like this, the gun ad blockade, is they are in a futile struggle with a capitalist market. and they will never win.

  8. GunsTV can work, but it’s not going to as a shopping network. It needs a show about gun history, a show about gun manufacturing, a reality show called “American Gunners” that’s about buying and selling guns from the perspective of the ffl dealer, the manufacturer salesman, a show about gun competition shooting.

Oh, wait, “History Channel” already did all that.

    • Outdoor Channel does “Gun Stories with Joe Montagna” and it’s absolutely an awesome little 30 min segment.

        • Yes. Not every celeb is a leftist anti-gun twit but it probably explains why you don’t see him anymore in the movies or barely any TV because he doesn’t tow the line.

  9. “Why would you buy 10k$ in swords from QVC, Coach McGurk?”
“You couldn’t possibly understand, until you’ve lived alone, Brendon”

  10. Why not California? Where else are people too lazy to shop for or research their own purchases? They’ll be bigger than Cheaper n Dirt in about a year.

    • Nice parody clip.

In it the announcer states it comes with a year’s worth of ammunition.

I can guarantee that seller’s idea of “a year’s supply” is nowhere near *my* idea of a year’s supply…(My idea for a year’s supply of ammo entails a 5,000 square foot warehouse stuffed full.)

      *snicker*

  11. I got NO problem getting Sportsman channel/Outdoor channel on Comcast. IN Illinois. Nobodies dumping anything…and I really don’t see anything special here…

  12. Need infomercials on MSM for prep and self-defense, toss in a little hunting. Discuss engineering and science of ballistics.
