Thanksgiving Traditional Roasted Turkey
Bigstock

Whether you got your bird with a well-placed load of No. 5 shot from 15 yards or from the freezer case at your local store, have a happy and a healthy Thanksgiving. TTAG will be on a reduced posting schedule this long holiday weekend as we spend more time than usual out in meatspace with friends and family.

Enjoy.

    • Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all here. Sometimes we agree, sometimes we bicker, sometimes we get on each other’s nerves. Sometimes we even spot a troll and dogpile on it for fun. But this is by far my favorite ‘gun’ site, and the one I always keep open in the background during the day while I work.

Eat some turkey, enjoy time with friends & family, give thanks to God, and keep your powder dry. The fight will still be there waiting for us on Monday.

  1. Conservatives tend to lean on the grateful side when it comes to blessings, while the others seem to only exist to complain.

Like these ‘yoots’ here, biting the hand that literally feeds them :

“Watch: Students Say It’s Not Okay To Celebrate Thanksgiving”

    https://www.zerohedge.com/political/watch-students-say-its-not-okay-celebrate-thanksgiving

“β€œWhat do Americans do except for celebrate unethical holidays,” one student said. Another student interviewed outside the campus chapel said that no holidays with religious connotations should be observed.”

Happy bird, everyone, except those that despise this great country… πŸ™‚

    • I give those who despise this great country the bird, everyone else have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.

    • First of all, why bring this politics here, now, in this topic? What the hell man!?!?

Second, you did not watch the entire video. Go back and do it again.

      • They’re demonstrating by example how to be thankful and not always finding something to complain about.

        • Yup, the second half of the video has the more mature young people talking a good deal more sensibly.

And you can have both turkey and ham, you do not have to choose one or the other. It’s not a contest πŸ™‚

    • Agreed. Christmas at my own house usually has overpriced Honey Baked Ham, but it tastes like candy!

        • Tom in Oregon,

Your comment made me laugh out loud.

I tip my hat to you sir!

          Happy Thanksgiving.

      • We always have two full options when the extended fam comes over…turkey/potatoes/stuffing/gravy, and ham/cheesy potatoes. I have it all, but usually load up on the ham and cheesy potatoes.

        • WTH??…

After 20+ years of cheesy, potato-y goodness to go along with the ham, two of the newer additions to our extended family (newer wives trying to address their weight) blindsided us this year and substituted cauliflower for the potatoes! I got jipped!

      • When I was a kid we had all three. Because it was a big extended mish-mash of aunts and uncles and assorted in-laws and grand parents and cousins and genuinely an insane day. So, multiple cooks bringing the yummy stuff.

    • Turn on the Wayback Machine, Thanksgiving had Turkey, Ham and Braciola as main meat dishes. There was no need to pick one or the other.

Of course all those people doing all that cooking are long gone now, many years in most cases.

  2. Gleeful Gobbles. Black Friday pro tip… when the rest of the world heads to shop tomorrow, we head to our property to target shoot. Usually we introduce a pumpkin to Mr. Tannerite.

  3. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here. I’m thankful to the one God that I live in a nation where we can speak our minds and protect ourselves in the manner in which we feel is appropriate. I’m also thankful of the prosperity in this nation and the freedom we enjoy, which is still far better than that which the rest of the world is forced to live under, regardless of comments often posted here and elsewhere.

Didn’t do the wild bird this year but got a fresh one at Fareway, it’s in the oven and will enjoy in a couple hours. All the best to everyone here, may you all find something to be thankful for, and realize to which being you should be thankful.

  4. To everyone out there in TTAG Land. May your Thanksgiving be bountiful, your friends and family close and your firearms recently discharged.

  5. Going to be a beautiful day here in western Oregon. Sun woke up a few minutes ago and I’m watching it rise with a nice cup of dark roast.

Gong to deep fry two birds today.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

  6. And if you are going to deep fry your turkey, remember to make sure it is first fully thawed. Otherwise the results could be spectacular. As in fire brigade spectacular.
