Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials are seeking information from the public about the illegal killing of a 6×7 bull elk on the Woody Island Coulee Block Management Area (BMA) north of the community of Turner. Turner is located about 30 miles north of Harlem on Montana Highway 241. Havre-based warden Wes Oedekoven told TTAG that the elk was shot without the land owner’s permission on Oct. 2. Oops. It’s bow-hunting season; rifle season doesn’t start until the 23rd. The carcass was left to rot. Anyone with information about this dead elk should call Oedekoven at (406) 262-2407 or the Turn In Poachers-Montana hotline at 1-800-TIP-MONT (1-800-847-6668). Callers can remain anonymous and may be offered a cash reward if the information leads to an arrest.
