Only people from 16 of the 50 states? What was up with that? No doubt that with a little effort, all 50 states + all territories could have had a participant. Still a shame with the Guinness book BS not recognizing it though.
I actually agree with Guinness’ reasoning behind not keeping that record. They avoid stuff that could lead to a dangerous escalation. The 1,000 shoot took a lot of coordination. If 2,000 drunk idiots get together because they want to break that record with ARs, chances are that something is going to go very wrong based solely on the law of large numbers.
Because nothing could possibly go wrong in the attempt to break any of their other goofy records?
Never mind all the broken noses and ruptured testicles from a ‘World’s Largest Dodgeball’ attempt, or all of the herniated disks and broken wrists from a ‘World’s Largest Game of Twister’ fiasco.
That being said, I’m sure the *real* record for simultaneous gunfire belongs to the battles of Kursk, Verdun or the Somme.
Demolition Ranch, who is a doctor(ish), had a segment on this. He was one of the bloggers there. It looked like fun.

This doesn’t seem very interesting to me. One of those “feelz” type events.
Why is it that when I saw the phrase “thousand man shoot,” I thought of a weekend in Chicago?
Where did the get all the .22 ammo ??
Winchester. But they only needed 4 bricks. 1000 shooters, 2 rounds apiece.
