On July 20, 2012, James Holmes shot and killed 12 people and wounded 58 at a cinema in Aurora, Colorado. Like all Cinemark theaters, it was a “gun free” zone (i.e., no legal firearms allowed). And now “Portland Police are looking for a suspect they said robbed a Southeast Portland multiplex during broad daylight Wednesday,” katu.com reports. “Police said the man, described as a white male in his 40s or 50s, walked into the Century 16 theaters on SE 82nd Avenue at 12:30 p.m. and demanded money after showing he had a handgun in his waistband. The suspect left the theater on foot after taking cash and a search of the area by police with canine units did not turn up a suspect. Police said the suspect is 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium build, gray hair and was unshaven. They said he was wearing a dark green hoodie, blue jeans and a beanie-style cap.”

  1. Liberal anti-gunnies know perfectly well but don’t care that criminals don’t obey gun laws — they are religiously attached to their fear of guns.

    • True. The ideology, beliefs, and fervent practices of some new age liberals, politically-correct types, and feminists can be seen as a modern religious (dis-)order.

      • Hey I resent that! I just got back from Wally World, with my hoodie and Glock. lol I kid about the resentment, though the later statement is true.

I doubt many gangstahs wear ash grey “Connecticut Fire Academy” hoodies.

  2. “Hey Cinemark: How’s That Whole “Gun Free” Zone Working For You?”

“As well as can be expected…”

“You mean the bad guys are ignoring the signs?”

“Yeah, but we can’t take the signs down, because that would mean we’re admitting we were at fault in the Aurora massacre. I don’t know what to do now.”

  3. I thought the media decided long ago to stop reporting the race of suspects? I guess that rule doesn’t apply when the suspect can be described as a “white male”…

  4. While I am definitely pro gun…I carry every day…I’ll have to admit that in this case, the bad guy getting away with a few hundred bucks is probably a better outcome than a shoot out in a crowded theater with a CCW holder…

    • Agreed.

Especially since the only threat by the bad guy was “showing he had a handgun in his waistband.” His demeaner said, “You be reasonable, then I’ll be reasonable, and no one gets hurt, OK?” A fairly nice guy, as armed robbers go… Most of the customers probably never even knew they had been present during an armed robbery.

    • Or, if the guy knew there was a good possibility that there were armed people in there disinclined to be robbed, the robber would have skipped that location. He chose a gun free zone and knew he was in no danger.

  5. In other Portland news, some wacko near the Burnside Bridge area has attacked and cut two people with a machete. For locals, the attacker has been described as a 5’4″ male.

    • What form do you have to fill out to buy a machete again, 4472? 4474? I can never remember…

Oh, wait. That’s right. Anyone at all can walk into a hardware store and buy a machete, no background check required.

    • Yea, macheties dont kill people at all.

Just ask the +/- 800,000 Tutsi’s that were butchured to death in 1994.

Irony of that sitiation is the great Anti-Gun God, Bill Clinton turned his back on them when asked for help. The “official” reasoning was to avoid another Mogadishu like event.

I guess in all reality if he decided to intervine he would have to agknowledge that guns are not the sum of all evil.

      • Machetes don’t kill people, people with Machetes kill people without Machetes! Same with guns! I’d rather not see how well gun control works out!

      • I was just thinking “I wonder what this guy actually pictures when he thinks of inanimate objects being responsible for the actions of human beings?” and immediately visualized a giant golem composed entirely of blades, given thought and will by the sheer volume of ignorance in the world. Think I’m done drinkin’ for the night

    • and the local hipsters that witnessed it just laughed and sipped on their stumptown coffee… just another day in Portlandia…

  6. Petty criminals and organized crime love gun control laws. Legal fronts of crime organizations might well finance firearm bans.

    • Your right about that! The goubernment loves it ,too. They all loved alcohol prohibition, they still love the war on people, err read war on drugs. With all of their domestic “wars”, be it poverty or drugs or terrorism it seems the longer the “Fight” the more we have of what we are supposed to be fighting. Actually, now that I think about it, the more they fight gun ownership, the more guns people buy! Thank god they aren’t on our side!
