This past weekend Hornady and Magpul (among other sponsors) put on the second annual Pandemic Zombie Shoot, a zombie-themed 3-gun competition specifically designed for new shooters to cut their teeth and for experienced shooters to have a good time. Out of the over 475 shooters at the event, Team FNH USA‘s Larry Houck walked away with first place (both overall and in Open Division) and I came in 15th place (21st overall), having shot ten stages and three side-matches over the course of three days in Grand Island, Nebraska. And while the competition was fun, the costumes and set design was what really made this competition a blast . . .

  1. A trekkie gathering with real guns? When the apocalypse starts I want the bus with the fiddys on the roof.

  2. Looks like fun, even if your not a zombie gun nut. I bet it would have been hard to shoot 3 gun with that gas mask on…

  3. Looks an awful lot like DPMS’s “Outbreak Omega” that’s been 5 years running. They cancelled OO6 this year due to the gun industry panic and subsequent shortages. Nice to see some people kept the shooting events going.

    • I’m curious to know how much of the matches are being shot with shotguns since the shortage.

  4. Having fun while having fun. Does it get any better than that???
    Even the kids.

  5. Though the I’m the side of the “zombie trend” of green guns being done, this looks like a lot of fun. Events like this really help to broaden the gun owning community… more of them should be done!

  6. Anybody else think Woody Harralson and Zombieland when they saw the next to last photo? Cool tribute if it was supposed to be one.

  7. It’s funny how few the comments are on this article, I’m thinking most Ttag readers are probably skipping this article because the word zombie in the headline.

  8. Hope you guys had a blast in our awesome, yet windy weather. I was spectating for a bit on friday afternoon, was totally cool to get to watch Larry and his kid run stages together.

  9. Nick,
Wish we’d crossed paths. I was on squad 6, one of the Friday morning groups. Missed some other people I’d have looked for if I’d known they were there. Oh well, I’ll have to go back next year and try to do better. Lucked out and got a Stag upper off the prize table so I’m definitely in for another try!
