I didn’t start The Truth About Guns to make money (which is just as well). I sat down at the keyboard and began writing because writing is what I do. Some three-and-a-half years ago, when we had zero readers, page views and comments, I was “into” guns. But I didn’t know much about guns. Or the fight to extend and defend gun rights. Since then, I’ve done my best to learn as much as possible about the ethics, morality, business, politics, culture, technology, practice, strategy, dangers and fun of guns. TTAG’s writers, readers and commentators have been my teachers. As we pass this milestone, I thank you all (y’all) for this education. In return, I promise that our editorial team will continue to do its best to bring you the truth about guns. No holds barred. No quarter given. Knowing that we are only as good as our last post. So if you’ll excuse me . . .

  1. Congratulations. I’ve only recently discovered your site, but it has quickly become one of the first sites I check in the morning (and thoughout the day).

    • If you happen to be using Google Chrome, there’s an extension called Easy Auto Refresh that I use. It works well. I had to go through 3-4 similar extensions before I settled on this one.

I assume there is a similar extension for other browsers, but I don’t care about them.

    • I used to visit TTAC daily (after Farago had already moved on). I think the departure of Ed Niedermeyer took the site in a direction that no longer interests me, and it’s a rare day that I poke my head in there now.

TTAG is basically where I spend the majority of my online time now.

      • TTAC? Now even more group-think and populist-uselessness than Jalopnik (amazing that’s even possible). There’s almost nobody on that site that knows sweet FA about cars. It’s a bunch of wannabes who couldn’t change their own oil, nor build an engine, spouting MotorTrend level talking points about things they have no clue about.

There’s as much relevant “truth” at TTAC as a Moms Demand Action rally, and as much edge as a basketball. Sad, but we all die sometime…

  2. Congratulations Robert and all of TTAG’s other excellent writers. This is far and away my favorite website, and I hope for many more years of top notch content.

    • We are definitely hoping to get the numbers next year up for the FFZ! Everyone is welcome to join and start discussions. If you have any issues on forum, send me an e-mail and I will help resolve it immediately!

  3. well deserved, i’ve been reading you literally multiple times a day, every day, since right after newtown last year…this is my “mainstream media…” keep up the good work 🙂

  4. Congratulations! I started looking at TTAG only occasionally for reviews. Now I’m on it multiple times every day. (Which is good and bad.)

  5. To Robert, Contributors and Commentators: Keep up the good work and keep battling and moving the needle toward 2A acceptance. Keep having conversations with low information citizens, voters, people and keep exposing anti’s and fence sitters to show that we, gun owners, are people who care deeply about our freedom, our country, our homes, our communities, our safety, our hobbies, our passions, our families, etc, etc. etc. With some knowledge they might understand why the 2A is arguably the most important.

I don’t post often, but read this site everyday.

    Thanks Again!

  6. I think you need to start a pool for when TTAG hits the one billion mark. First prize, a case of 22lr. Second prize, a MaDeuce and a pallet of 50BMG. Third prize, DiFi’s head on a pike. Your order of preference may vary.

  7. I found this website after Newtown, and a day hasn’t passed were I didn’t log on. Long live TTAG!

  8. This here site quickly became my number one stop for gun news. I like the clearheaded approach the writers take and I appreciate the variety of opinions you see in the comments. There are so many other sites where all you get is bluster and bravado. Even if the content is good, the reaction can be off-putting. I know you don’t HAVE to read the comments, but it’s hard to look away sometimes. At TTAG, there isn’t much of that. If I had to whittle my subscriptions down to just one gun site (I hear there’s a law being proposed,) this is the one that would survive. Excellent spot for news and opinion and it’s always well-presented. You write good and stuff.

  9. Congrats to us all. Without RF there’d be no site. Without us there would be no site. TTAG, one big, loud, dysfunctional family.

  10. Long time listener, first time caller. TTAG is the only site I read daily. Excellent mix of editorial, review, and news.

  11. Sweet,

    This song

To me describes the Human Struggle through the ages of working generation after generation building on the work that was left to be done.

This is the Struggle every human being, ever, has and will take part in.

This is the Struggle that our Founding Fathers were expecting the heirs of this nation to continue towards liberty, sadly the path is not tread by the nation today.

“Work it harder, Make it Better, Do it Faster, Makes us Stronger” -Daft Punk

Or did I just look to deep?

  12. Keep it up. Relatively new here, but entirely addicted, haha. It’s good stuff. Even the stuff I disagree with. 🙂
