Tens of thousands of gun-rights activists from around the country rallied peacefully at the Virginia Capitol on Monday to protest plans by the state’s Democratic leadership to pass gun-control legislation — a move that has become a key flash point in the national debate over gun violence

The size of the crowd and the expected participation of white supremacists and fringe militia groups raised fears that the state could see a repeat of the violence that exploded in 2017 in Charlottesville. But the rally concluded uneventfully around noon, and the mood was largely festive, with rally-goers chanting “USA!” and waving signs denouncing Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam.

Many protesters chose not to enter the designated rally zone, where Northam had imposed a temporary weapons ban, and instead packed surrounding streets, many dressed in tactical gear and camouflage and carrying military-style rifles as they cheered on the speakers.

“I love this. This is like the Super Bowl for the Second Amendment right here,” said P.J. Hudson, a truck driver from Richmond who carried an AR-15 rifle just outside Capitol Square. He was one of the few African American rally-goers in a crowd that was overwhelmingly white and male, and was frequently stopped and asked to pose for pictures wearing his “Black Guns Matter” sweatshirt.

An estimated 22,000 people attended, according to authorities, who said one woman was arrested on felony charge of wearing a mask in public.

The protesters came out despite the frigid temperature to send a message to legislators, they said.

“The government doesn’t run us, we run the government,” said Kem Regik, a 20-year-old private security officer from northern Virginia who brought a white flag with a picture of a rifle captioned, “Come and take it.”

Northam was a particular focus of the protesters’ wrath. One poster showed his face superimposed on Adolf Hitler’s body.

The governor said in a statement he was “thankful” the day passed peacefully and that “he will continue to listen to the voices” of Virginians while doing everything in his power “to keep our commonwealth safe.”

“The issues before us evoke strong emotions, and progress is often difficult,” Northam said.

Democratic lawmakers said the rally wouldn’t impact their plans to pass gun-control measures, including universal background checks and a one-handgun-purchase-a-month limit. Democrats say tightening Virginia’s gun laws will make communities safer and help prevent mass shootings like the one last year in Virginia Beach, where a dozen people were killed in a municipal building.

“I was prepared to see a whole lot more people show up than actually did and I think it’s an indication that a lot of this rhetoric is bluster, quite frankly,” said Del. Chris Hurst, a gun-control advocate whose TV journalist girlfriend was killed in an on-air shooting in 2015.

Some of the protesters waved flags with messages of support for President Donald Trump. Trump, in turn, tweeted support for their goals.

“The Democrat Party in the Great Commonwealth of Virginia are working hard to take away your 2nd Amendment rights,” he tweeted. “This is just the beginning. Don’t let it happen, VOTE REPUBLICAN in 2020!

The Virginia State Police, the Virginia Capitol Police and the Richmond Police had a heavy presence, with officers deploying on rooftops, patrolling in cars and on bicycles.

Authorities were looking to avoid a repeat of the violence that erupted in Charlottesville during one of the largest gatherings of white supremacists and other far-right groups in a decade. Attendees brawled with counterprotesters, and an avowed white supremacist drove his car into a crowd, killing a woman and injuring dozens more. Law enforcement officials faced scathing criticism for what both the white supremacist groups and anti-racism protesters said was a passive response.

On Monday, Southern Poverty Law Center staff members attended the rally and identified members of extremist militia groups, including the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters, as well as the League of the South, according to outreach director Lecia Brooks. The League of the South, which the center designates a hate group, advocates for Southern secession.

In contrast to Charlottesville, there was little sign of counterprotesters challenging the gun-rights activists.

Police limited access to Capitol Square to only one entrance, and a long line formed to get into the rally zone.

Gun-rights advocates also filled the hallways of the building that houses lawmakers’ offices. One couple, Jared and Marie March, traveled from Floyd County, over three hours west of Richmond, to meet with lawmakers.

“Guns are a way of life where we live,” said Marie March, who was concerned about a proposed red-flag law she said would allow citizens to be stripped of their guns due to “subjective criteria.” A proposal to establish universal background checks amounted to “more Big Brother,” she said. “We just feel like we need to push government back into their rightful spot.”

Monday’s rally was organized by an influential grassroots gun-rights group, the Virginia Citizens Defense League. The group holds a yearly rally at the Capitol, typically a low-key event with a few hundred gun enthusiasts listening to speeches from a handful of Republican lawmakers. But this year’s event was unprecedented. Second Amendment groups have identified the state as a rallying point for the fight against what they see as a national erosion of gun rights.

The pushback against proposed new gun restrictions began immediately after Democrats won majorities in both the state Senate and House of Delegates in November, with much of the opposition focused on a proposed assault weapons ban. More than 100 localities have since passed measures declaring support for the Second Amendment.

Erich Pratt, senior vice president of Gun Owners of America, said voters need to replace the Democrats in control of the government in Virginia.

“We need to throw the bums out. We need to clean house in the next election,” he told the crowd.

House Republican Leader Todd Gilbert complimented the behavior of the rally-goers and said Democrats should take a lesson from them.

“The law-abiding gun owners in attendance today are the ones who would bear the brunt of their anti-gun proposals, which would have little to no impact on crime or criminals,” he said in a statement.

The rally coincided with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, which is typically a chance for everyday citizens to use a day off work to lobby their legislators. However, the threat of violence largely kept other groups away from the Capitol, including gun control groups that hold an annual vigil for victims of gun violence.

When that event was canceled, students from March for Our Lives, the movement launched after 17 were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida in 2018, decided they had to do something. A group of about 15 college students and one high schooler slept overnight in the offices of two Democratic lawmakers to ensure they could make it into the Capitol area safely. The lawmakers, Hurst and Del. Dan Helmer — who’s sponsoring a bill that would block the National Rifle Association from operating an indoor gun range at its headquarters — camped out as well.

Michael McCabe, a 17-year-old high school senior from northern Virginia, said he was there to underscore the “moral urgency” felt by a generation “unduly affected” by gun violence.

“Our main goal is not to engage with gun extremists today,” McCabe said. “We are really here to be present in the legislature to make our voices heard.”

  1. Just imagine the stink coming from the buffoons wearing the ‘RWDS’ patches. Total knuckle dragging traitors.

      • He’s not wrong you know.

Sad part is these far right extremists use this as an excuse to come out, knowing damn well that WE don’t support their bullshit. When you make this about race, you might as well spoon feed the left everything they want from your fridge. Fuck those tools. But in the end, every gun matters. Even the gangbangers in the hoods selling crack would be needed in the revolution, just like every farmer and their sons were before. It is nice to see some progress from those black communities on gun control though. People like Colion Noir helping to raise awareness that gun control was and still is a race control thing. If only we could all just find a medium and stop the race baiting bullshit. In all honesty, Virginia is a very good place to start that progress.

  2. The fact that there was one arrest and it doesn’t even sound like a violent one should give lots of pause for the media. What a load. It’s probably the biggest middle finger that gun rights groups could give Northram and the Democrats too.

    • “An estimated 22,000 people attended, according to authorities, who said one woman was arrested on felony charge of wearing a mask in public.”

I saw pictures of the event and the only people wearing masks were Capitol Police. So, good enough for them but…

      • 22,000 plus attended… all the side streets were packed with people kitted up, strapped or carrying concealed. It is an annual event the third Monday in January, and usually has 1,000 or so.

22x as many, and that douche democrat says “oh, well. I expected more. So this PROVES Virginians really want and need their DEAR LEADERS to forcibly disarm the state and control all aspects of their lives”.

Dems/Lefties already made up their mind, and they are voting on 12 more gun bills tomorrow. This didn’t change a thing for them. But it is the last peaceful warning from the Constituents, I’m sure.

      • I watched her video she posted of the incident. She and her husband were calling out Nazis and, after ignoring being told 3 times to remove her handkerchief from her face, she kept mouthing off and talked herself into it. I guess the edgy antifa handkerchief was worth it. Leftists just have to push everything.

        • I’m sorry, you feel having a handkerchief on your face is worthy of being arrested and imprisoned for?

        • No, I think it’s a stupid law but it originates from anti-Klan legislation and is still on the books. LEO were allowing covering faces while it was colder than 30*, then when it got above that they were telling people to uncover their faces. She decided to mouth off and ignore their multiple requests, so she got what she earned. A handkerchief over the face isn’t effective for warmth, she was doing it to be edgy. Simple compliance on the first, second, or third request would have prevented it. NFG for that behavior – just another mouthy leftist.

        • Man, you sound confused as fuck. You can’t thin blue line and come and take them. It’s one or the other. You take the kings shillings, you do the kings bidding. That is police. And good for her calling out Nazi’s. Fuck them. Everyone should have booted their asses out. As for the police wearing masks… if we can’t, they can’t. Plain and simple. No, I am not advocating anarchy or some leftist antifa fuckstick, but I am certainly not for a police state either, and people like you enable it.

    • Last year it was “commonsense” that I grew tired of hearing. This year it’s “extreme”. Lawful gun owners are gun extremists. Because we won’t follow unconstitutional orders, Oath Keepers are an extremist militia group. Anyone who won’t bend the knee is unreasonably extreme, apparently.

      • Rad Man,

I noticed that as well. The exact quote from the AP article:

“Southern Poverty Law Center … identified members of extremist militia groups, including the Oath Keepers and Three Percenters …”

Remember that everyone. That is how Progressives view you if you don’t agree to their every whim and mandate and declare that you will oppose them.

As I stated in a post yesterday, Progressives love and desperately want to live according to tribalism, which is nothing more than the mindset that anyone who does not agree with your views is backwards, deplorable, corrupt, evil, stupid, and/or crazy and deserves all the vitriol, hatred, malice, abuse, exploitation, and punishment that Progressives feel inclined to mete out.

        • How soon they forget that it was farmers and their adolescent sons who formed “organized” militias to enable their freedom of speech.

Keep fucken around and they might as well be thanked for drawing us all together. I guess I love the left? Lol… thank you for uniting us.

Still, it continues to amaze me too. If you own a gun, you are an extremists and a possible criminal, and by carrying it you are a danger to others? I laugh, but I die inside a little too. The more I hear, the angrier I get, and the more I reach out to organize. Hate is a powerful motivator. At least I can channel mine to defend self defense without the need to side with any far right bullshit, or for that matter, far left bullshit too. These people just don’t understand the medium or the courage it takes to be the medium.

  3. The news isn’t that the rally went off peacefully- it’s that the media hyped that there would be violence because the conservatives were going to be incensed about the safety loving politicians taking away their “toys”.
POTG are protesting that the Democratic politicians are trying to remove the means for average folks to defend themselves right out of the starting gate! The Dems. were pushing the anti-gun laws before they were even sworn into office. The politicians do not believe that they need to listen to the rabble and are unwilling for there to be give and take when proposing new laws……….

  4. I think MLK would have been proud to see a peaceful protest for equal rights for all, regardless of creed, orientation, or color. It was what defined the man.

    • I keep telling my lefty friends: gun owners aren’t what they think. Today’s rally proved it. Thousands of people showed up to warn those who insist that it’s okay to deprive people of their rights and their property: “no more.” Because gun owners are peace-loving folk, the warning was peaceful… but it WAS a warning. A raised eyebrow. An, “are you SURE you want to do this?” moment.

Hopefully the left listens. They have an opportunity to learn from today, to view gun owners as neighbors and friends, to begin mending some of the fissures they are creating, and to find better ways to solve problems that we all care about without hurting innocent people in the process.

Boy, do I hope they listen. Boy am I afraid they won’t.

      • They didn’t listen. 12 bills on the docket tomorrow. Gun bills. A couple are good ones from the GOP, just to show Dems how silly they are. But the point is, Dems didn’t pay any attention.

I bet we see one of them tar and feathered. Maybe not tomorrow. Soon.

        • “They didn’t listen.”

          You got that right. :

““The issues before us evoke strong emotions, and progress is often difficult,” Northam said.”

Translation – Fuck You, we’re doing it anyways, and there isn’t a damn thing you can do about it…

        • Agreed. You can only push so far.

I only hope we will not allow them to turn that tar and feathering into domestic terrorism, which is how the left will view it. As long as we unite and keep pushing forward, then who cares how they see it.

  5. Can “Delegates”, and the Governor be recalled in Virginia? Don’t know but is it possible? Given the turnout if that is a possibility I would think it would be worth a try. Glad nothing bad happened but did not expect it.

  6. Amazing. You had thousands of people in the streets armed in a short period of time to stand up for their rights. Media made it out to be a big shoot out. Didn’t happen as we all knew. Mean while in Chicago since New Years, there have been 18 shot and killed and 69 wounded in a gun free city. What are the liberals missing. OH, a brain and thinking? NO, It is just the power and control they want. Not about safety, but power. Nancy Piglosi explains it the best.

  7. No one was raped or murdered. Protestors cleaned up after themselves. Nothing burned, human waste was not left in the streets. No property destruction. No drug paraphernalia left littered in the streets. No one was accosted by protestors because of a hat they wore.

Do we see the difference between those who cherish a real Republic and those who wish socialism/communism/anarchy?

    • I went to a tea party rally years ago. Everyone picked-up garbage/papers when it was over. Exactly what the greenies preach “Leave No Trace”. Of course, no news outlet reported it.

  8. With such a large population of well-armed citizens present, the Richmond capital area was one of the safest places in the entire world today.

  9. I find it ironic the Southern Poverty Law Center is identifying hate groups. They are the exact same equivalent if not a terrorist organization. Interesting arrest on the mask imagine on Halloween the jails in Virginia are packed with kids. Don’t see that one holding up in court.

  10. “I was prepared to see a whole lot more people show up than actually did and I think it’s an indication that a lot of this rhetoric is bluster, quite frankly,” said Del. Chris Hurst, a gun-control advocate whose TV journalist girlfriend was killed in an on-air shooting in 2015.”

If Delegate Hurst believes the size of the crowd is indicative of the movement’s strength and tenacity he must have a real low opinion of Moms Demand Action.

      • HaHa, yeah, it’ll be so great when he does bull-dick to defend our 2A rights again like he did with ERPO’s and bump-stocks, amirite? How’s that boot taste?

Fake-ass 2A supporters on this site with their love of Drumpf. He’s no friend to the 2A, he’s friend to whatever serves his interest in the next 5 business days. Good luck with a president who, somehow, cares even less about your 2A rights as he does about the rest of your life.

        • It’s all about the judges. Tell me, vlad, how you going to feel when antifa gets named a terrorist org?

      • We will have to send an ambulance and a police office to Vlad’s mom’s basement in Ohio for a welfare check on election night.

That socially inept and utterly confused f#@* is gonna need it.

        • Has there been any confirmation that Vlad “lives” in Ohio? Yes, I put lives in quotes since I think his existence as a bottom feeding detritovore is hardly living. Ohio has it’s problems, believe me, but hopefully having Vlad reside here isn’t one of them.

Big, big congratulations to the citizens of Virginia! A quintessential display of what being a citizen of a republic means. Thank you to the VCDL, all the other groups, and the individuals who helped make the rally a success.

  11. So, who will be running as Republicans in the next election to defeat the tyrants? The Bushie, Ed Morrissey GOP should be expelled. 25% of slots uncontested by R’s – even a novice R could be competitive. Glad you are “Woked”, now. Fight or bend over.

  12. AND a bunch of patriots were openly carrying guns…anyone see a parallel to the Bundy ranch when the militia showed up and the gubmint goon’s puzzed out?!? I hope we in ILL- inois remember this day!😎BTW Tucker was great and had extensive coverage with Colion Noire…

  13. I was there, it was a great event even with the chilling effect Northam attempted with his decree from in high. The streets were full of people. That idiot dem that said the crowd wasn’t that big must be blind.

We will see what the next phase is in this fight. If anyone can, go talk to your reps, often. Bother them continually and make their life revolve around you. They only have so much time to work o these Bill’s. Waste their time. Also, write hand written letters and lots of them. VA is a farm state and the reps have to open the letters themselves. They cant pass them off to an aide. I was talking to a guy that was fighting anti exotic animal laws year after year. These are the tactics they used to stop the punitive laws.

  14. “tightening Virginia’s gun laws will make communities safer and help prevent mass shootings like the one last year in Virginia Beach” Universal background checks and one handgun per month would have stopped it?? That’s a bold-faced lie.

Then we have an entire paragraph dedicated to Charlottesville because…narrative.

Then we end on a loving tribute to those March for our lives kids that were so terrified of patriotic Americans that they had a sleepover to avoid walking through the crowd.

    By the AP of course.

  15. I’m so proud of our side. Civil, respectful, and articulate. Congrats and thanks to all who went and participated. Sadly, due to complications from a late Dec surgery, I was unable to attend. I watched the coverage that was available in the non MSM arena. I’ve always been very proud to be an American, but today that feeling went up several notches while you all were out there. Thanks you from this grateful American who loves this country and her beautiful constitution. God Bless and stay safe all.

  16. unfortunately this wont slow down the VA dems from passing their anti2A laws. in fact, they will probably enjoy it even more now.

  17. Funny how the media placed it at 22000 attendees. The true number is close to 60000, actually. 60000 patriots… But the media can’t count unless it fits their narrative anyways, so no surprise…

  18. What sucks is it wouldn’t have mattered if 100,000 people had turned up, the VA dems are going to pass their new restrictions come hell or high water. They know there is at least a chance they could lose their majority next election so they see this as an opportunity that may not come again. They are going to pass as much as they can and then some.

    • Yup. They have nothing to lose, and in their eyes, everything to gain by pushing as much gun control through as they can.

      • Erik,

They have nothing to lose, and in their eyes, everything to gain by pushing as much gun control through as they can.

That is the core problem right there.

Picture a rapist who confronts a woman and declares his intention to rape her. And she says in a calm voice, “Raping me is wrong. I am going to stay right here and keep telling you that raping me is wrong until you finally accept that raping me is wrong and walk away. And if you actually start raping me, I am not going to fight back or send anyone after you to punish you for your wrong-doing.”

How many rapists would disengage and leave that woman alone? Answer: ZERO.

Just like a rapist, politicians (mostly Democrats) are determined to violate us — disarming us so that we are unable to stop violent attackers and banning our pursuit of happiness of peacefully collecting and shooting firearms recreationally. If our only response is to tell them in a calm voice that this violation of us is wrong and we will do nothing if they proceed to violate us, they WILL proceed to violate us with impunity.

        • Well, yeah, BUT!! If kicked out of his powerful office, he will squeal like a rapist who has had his dick cut off. Because his opportunity is gone forever.

    • It’s very hard to repeal a law. As soona s a R legislature and governor try to roll back a gun law the media will accuse them of being full throated terrorists. Courts have a better chance because they can stand behind the constitution.
It’s like taxes. Very rarely do taxes go away once implemented.

  19. I am glad the rally went peacefully….it had the potential to get very ugly if the commie left had turned loose their agents provocateur into the crowd.

Sadly, however well it went, it WILL NOT CHANGE A THING. Coonman Northam and his commie accomplices in the state house were NEVER in any danger, thus they NEVER felt any fear and therefore
were provided ZERO incentive to reconsider their agenda to destroy Virginia, America and freedom. In fact
it’s most probable that this defiance of their “Authoiritay” will only serve to enrage them and make them push harder for more and even worse anti freedom legislation.

Commies are like the Terminator from Hollywood…..
“It (they) can’t be bargained with. It (they) can’t be reasoned with. It (they) doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear! And it (they) absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead!”

The communist demonrat left will work incessantly, tirelessly and without remorse NONSTOP at implementing their agenda of destruction of America, freedom and anyone who opposes them for
as long as they are capable of turning oxygen into carbon dioxide.

  20. 22,000 people……wow!

I wonder if David Hogg is watching this. I wonder if the Dems are. I wonder if Northam even cares.

    • Hogg was. He’s a broken mess now with his shaved head and Tweeting “f* nazis!” endlessly.
      Gov Blackface definitely doesn’t care.
22,000 marching for rights is a fringe element to be ignored while one pedophile in a dress upset about being kicked out of a playground is a national call to action.

  21. For all the talk of it being a white supremacist rally, I can’t see how the demographics would have been different if it was.
Look through the photos and other than the 3 token minorities see how many non white faces you see in the crowd.

    • Anyone that can pass a NICS check with enough money to buy a gun, can have one (as per the 2nd amendment). Some guns take more money. Some activities take more money.

Any and all responsible people are welcome to partake in this fundamental right.

Many people prefer spending a grand on a new cell phone. There are those that prefer thievery to obtain their firearms. Many people just don’t want anything to do with them.

There are all kinds of demographics NOT represented in that crowd.

      • Yes, rights are for everyone. Defending or exercising those rights clearly isn’t.

You only catch flak over the target. This is why we are constantly attacked as racists. The left knows white Christian men and their wives are the only group that is majority pro gun. That’s why they have done everything in their power to make sure the country is as brown, non Christian and unmarried as possible.

And, the right, in our attempts to prove how not racist we are has allowed tens of millions of new Democrats to flood into the country.

Our problems come from us not being racist, that’s why we get attacked as racists by the left.
Go look at those photos again and realize that whites are a group with interests that others do not share.

        • No one said this was easy. No one said life was easy. It is infact, so hard that many people lose their lives in the fight.

Have the courage or your convictions.

Your going to be attacked regardless. Being labeled as a racist by a racist is so ridiculous that it only serves as a distraction.

    • Dan W I watched some live feeds. I saw several non-white, and female individuals. One of the live feeds on youtube had a group of black teens all wearing MAGA hats, during the interview YouTube cut the live stream. Not sure if coincidental, but it didn’t pass my sniff test considering a lot of live feeds were blocked.

      • Look at photos of crowds. Our side loves to prove how not racist we are by focusing on the few minorities in these gathering. And I applaud those people for showing up and doing the right thing. But we have to realize they are a very small outlier.
Richmond is 40% white. The gun rights rally was easily 95%+ white.
I harbor no I’ll will towards these other groups. But we have to realize their preferences are not the same as ours. And if we wish to keep our rights allowing in millions of people who have demonstrated that they will always vote to take those rights is a recipe for disaster.

        • true. unrestricted immigration from places they have no understanding and no respect for the principles America was founded on will change America in terrible ways. imagine Ilhan Omar running the country. immigration must be assimilated, which requires it to be controlled.

        • “…who have demonstrated that they will always vote to take those rights. .”

This is demonstrably false. Take a look at Texas. It’s more immigrant now than it has been in over 100 years. And yet, Texans have voted for the legalization of the free exercise of our gun rights now more than we ever did when we were overwhelmingly white.

There hasn’t been a single Democrat statewide elected official in over 20 years. A complete reversal of how it used to be only 30 years ago.

In fact, native Texans have more in common with immigrant Hispanics than we do with immigrant coastal whites, who are the real challenge.

        • Dan W,
I’ve been hearing that for quite some time now. IF, and if is a big little word, Texas turns blue, it will, again, be because of white coastal migration to Texas, not because of immigration from Mexico or Central America.
The 2018 elections here in Texas made those trends even more clear. For instance, San Antonio, with a larger share of Hispanic voters than any other major city in Texas, voted for a Republican in a district that has been Democrat for the last 100 years. That’s not hyperbole, 100 years.
But Houston, Dallas, Austin, who have more out-of-state white migration? They voted more with the Democratic party than they have in the last 20.
If you are looking for Christian, family focused voters who continually put “the economy” at the top of their list, Hispanics are the demographic you should be looking for.

        • Dan W:
          Mother Jones?
Sorry….Mother Jones is as worthless to me as The New York Times. Might as well be reading Bloomberg. I would be happier without that craziness.

        • The poling data I have seen shows 70-80% of the Hispanic vote in Texas was for Clinton.

I hope you are right, it will make life much nicer in the coming years.

        • Prndll,

Please find me some data that shows this is not true. Mother Jones might be a rag not worthy of the outhouse, but the data they are referencing is solid.

The leftist media is very open about how demographic replacement is the strategy for winning elections. The right wing media avoids the topic for fear of being called racist.

        • Dan W, I’m not to referring to poling data, I’m referring to actual votes. More Hispanics and more Republicans, less abortion, and fewer gun laws is what actually happened.
We can argue philosophy, polls and prognostications all day long, but in the end, demonstrable reality trumps them all.

        • JWTAYLOR takes money from the Israeli government and supports the ethnic cleansing of whites from Texas.

Look at a map. Which counties voted blue in TX? It is the ones with the highest Hispanic population. They don’t care about liberty. They just want gibs from “El Norte”.

They aren’t sending their best. Somebody is doing the raping. They need to go back.

        • “Sorry….Mother Jones is as worthless to me as The New York Times. Might as well be reading Bloomberg.”

It’s called “know your enemy”. Ignore what they say, at your peril…

    • More minorities might have shown up if the media wasn’t saying it’s white nationalist rally. I don’t think many minorities would want to go hang out with a bunch of Nazis with guns.

  22. 2A supporters are far more civilized than pussy-hat marchers, the “resistance”, etc.

    great job POTG!

  23. Antifa knows who they can fuck with, and who they can’t. The idiots in power though are still downplaying the impact of 22,000 people, acting like it was no big deal. They’re not done yet. Getting them out of office is the only thing that will stop them, although this may somewhat lessen the type of laws passed now.

  24. This at least brings more attention to the issue. Maybe people that don’t know any better will learn something. Maybe people upset over the bump stocks will realize that doesn’t matter when ARs are outlawed and you have only 10 round magazines. This will happen nationwide if dems get any power.

  25. The equivalent of a classic car show. A bunch of pudgy boomers showing off their fancy toys, equating feminism, trans man and the globo homo agenda with RKBA. The same boomers who let emotional women and illegal migrants vote a Democrat tyrannical govt into their state is now upset with the tyrannical Democrat govt.

If this boomer army is our salvation, Hell is the only door left open.

    • Every generation must pick up the torch and run with it. It is NOT all on the shoulders of “the boomers”. There must be enough millenials fighting for the 2nd and teaching THEIR children to do the same. Otherwise, the 2nd and possible everything else will die off as time goes forward.

We all share in this responsibility. It is our job to keep things moving.

      • Boomers only care about their toys. Last generation.

Millenials are voting for AOC and Bernie. Lost generation.

Babies born today will be gleefully eating bugs and marching against non trans people. Next generation.

Kinda like Glock, all downhill since Gen2.

        • To the degree that this is true….
It is only for a combination of socialism being allowed to completely take over the American education system and careless attitude of adults when it comes to educating and caring for their children. At this point, an Ivy League education is a very negative thing. Its all about getting them when they are young and continual reinforcement. There are plenty of examples of this. We are never going to be able to get a handle on this thing until we take back education. Our children are being lied to. They grow up living out those lies. It’s no different from training a lion that it can’t break it’s thin chain. The process begins as a cub using a thick chain.

    • From the photos this was a lot of gen x and younger.
Americans do need to go on a diet. I didn’t know they made plate carriers that big around.

In this case a lot of people did something. Which is moving in the right direction.

      • Yep. It kinda gets lost in all the labels but theres 25 years worth of people in between “boomers” and “millenials.” Generally speaking, we don’t like being told how to behave by morons.

  26. The message was sent. Approx 22,000 in attendance. And standing beside each attendee, 5000 more from all parts of the country were there in spirit. That should give the anti’s pause.

  27. I don’t know how many people understand the far-reaching implications of what happened on Monday. But they are far beyond some folks imaginations at this point. What would happen if this was duplicated annually.? Because Lobby day happens every 20 January. What effect would it have on the state and the nation if 22000 people showed up with their firearms to Lobby the representative peacefully?

Perhaps a good way to normalize the idea of open carry in the general Public’s mind cannot be underestimated with these examples of good behavior. And what about other states? Would people lose their fear of the average gun owner seeing thousands of them in public behaving peacefully talking, laughing, making friends?

I think asking the people who open carrying their AR15s to stay outside of the Capitol building was a successful action. It gave the press the image of over 20,000 people carrying rifles peacefully.
Does the Virginia Citizens Defense League now become the top player in the gun rights movement nationally?

Can other state organizations duplicate their success as they had on Monday? I sure hope so.

There are international implications to this display as well. You have tourists who want to come and see it. And others will be afraid and won’t come to the United States. Already you have some tourist bureaus are actually complaining about gun rights activists in certain States.
I’m sure Monday’s Lobby day was watched very closely by some people in Hong Kong. And I’m sure the Communist Chinese are not very happy.

The nation just saw a Texas Church defend itself successfully against an attacker. Now the nation has seen over 22, 000 law-abiding gun owners behaving peacefully while addressing their representatives.

I think our enemies are scared. I think they’re very scared. And I don’t expect them to admit it in public.

I’m sure they are preparing their hit pieces on the VCDL leadership right now. Because Lobby day doesn’t have a face. There is no face attached to Lobby day. People just show up and speak to their representatives.

As far as I know this is the first time in American history where 22,000 people showed up to Lobby their representatives while openly carrying their firearms.

That is political power flowing out the end of a gun barrel. American Style.

  28. MLK dau is supposed to be a day off of work for citizens to petition their legislators? That’s hilarious, the only people I know of that have MLK day off is government “workers”.
