Welcome Rocky, I’ve spent a lot of time drowning worms also. Once in a while I manage to catch a fish.
When I used to take my kids fishin they would quote a great line from a Sylvester cartoon. “Oh father, you’ll never catch a fish” Most of the time that correct.
I like the old bumper sticker line. “The worst day fishing is better than the best day at work.”
